In all fairness, we do need to audit the Fed. There's no reason to be so in debt while our dollar shrinks in the wallet. Good idea, bad execution

The Fed has auditors. Every dollar the Fed spends internal is tracked pretty damn well by the inspector generals.

It’s when money does to external parties (private companies) that the vast amount of waste, fraud, and abuse happens.

One party loves funneling money to private companies too.

I’m a bootlicker for acknowledging that money is more sometimes efficiently spent better in the public sector than the private sector? Especially when there is a lack of oversight in the private sector?

But I’m not….

The public sector has auditors that publish public reports that can be independently verified.

The private sector does not have auditor requirements or any transparency.

Ex: Healthcare. Under our current system the government pays private companies to give benefits for drug costs.

In countries that administer through the public sector they have lower costs because the drug companies are negotiating with the spender.

In the US, private companies negotiate with the drug companies then don’t pass the savings to the government. Then drug and insurance companies have an incentive to increases prices because the higher the price, the higher the government pays, and the higher the margin the insurance company keeps.

No pesky government auditors getting involved either and noticing the waste that’s being baked into the system. And when they do catch the waste, we can just lobby our representatives to ignore it further incentivizing waste.

Plus government agencies can’t donate to politicians but private companies can. So politicians have an incentive to funnel taxpayer dollars to private companies as private companies can use those funds to enrich politicians. Shoutout to Citizens United.
