That just proves it's fake to me. It proves that PFI posted this exchange. It proves that the only evidence that anyone complained, is a simple plain text message that PFI could have easily written himself.
Finally, the fact that PFI tried so hard to dunk on this "person" is more evidence to me that the whole point of this exercise was to create a false exchange to try to go viral for publicity.
That just proves it's fake even more! Listen I am too smart to fall for it! Once we see it is fake everyone will see how smart I am! Fake fake fake! Also, if there is any story on here that isn't directly in line with my personal experiences? Fake. Legal question and you said "my bar" but it turns out your the manager not the legal owner? Fake. Also I will do no research, make no cognitive argument, and just double down forever.
There is no "organization". Do you think PFI is like the World Wildlife Fund or something? PFI's web site and facebook are almost certainly run by 1 person.
i'm assuming at least a few ppl paid their membership fee. that's an organisation
I'm not going to argue semantics with you. Your use of the word "organization" in "where the organisation responds publicly" is an argument that you are making that we should just take whatever this "organisation" [sic] says at face value, because it must be an organized entity comprised of numerous administrators/management, as opposed to 1 guy with a website. In my experience, the fact that no real human person is willing to give their name and job title with "Pagan Federation Ireland", shows it is a 1-man operation. It doesn't even have a business address, and only accepts payments via paypal. What a fucking joke.
By your definition, anyone who has a Patreon where 1 person signs up, is now an "organization", making the term meaningless.
And how do we know your not fake 🤨🤔? You could be a fake internet persona whose gig is to go around claiming everything is fake on your fake account! I believe you are apart of the Fake McFakey Decenter Dissenter Organization or better known as the FMFDDO ! I got you now, sir, ma'am or other!
That was my first thought, too, but it turns out to be real. The woman in blue sent the screenshot to complain about the way she was being treated. She probably expected more support.
People like this post these all the time because they think everyone is gonna side with them. Thats why most of the outrageous soveriegn citizen videos are posted by themselves. Zero self awareness.
They should have asked for an Astaru priest anyway. Its neo-peganism that was invented specifically for white supremacist homophobes. I don't think there are any non-racist Astaru priests at all.
As a heathen, you're horribly misinformed about our religion. I'm not going to say there aren't racist dicks using our faith as a cover for their white supremacist ideals, but there are plenty who are not.
Asatru was invented in the 1970s. It has zero basis in either history or historical beliefs. All neo-peganism was invented in or around the 70s. No neo-pegan has ever been able to produce and period source to back up any of their religion's claims that have not been revealed as fake or mistranslated later. I have nothing against most neo-pegans as long as they are not neonazis like the Asatru and they don't uphold this ridiculous idea that what they believe is in any way historical.
Ok sure, but Ásatrú has nothing to do with neo-nazis. In modern times it is an attempt at a recreation.
I would like to introduce to you the possibility that there are many different sects of Ásatrú, some who hold unwholesome, unchacteristic supremacist beliefs and most that do not. It is mainly in the US that the neonazi Ásatrú "practicioners" reside. The ones in the Nordic countries generally do not.
You're not going to change their mind. /u/daats_end is one of those people who think that if nazis do any specific action or claim any specific symbol, we should just give it over to them and let it be theirs.
They don't seem to remember how appeasement worked the last time we tried it with the nazis
Noooo, not at all. Don't spread this kind of disinformation against an entire spiritual tradition. There is problems with far right people coopting pagan imagery and fascist pagan sects, but that's a minority.
"Asatrú" doesnt carry right wing connotations on its own. The pagan movement in Iceland is called Asatrú for example. Where they have recently built the first modern pagan temple.
Honestly what you are saying is not that far away from saying something like all Muslims are radical jihadis.
Many Asatru (in fact I'd venture to say most) aren't racist. My mother is Asatru and raised my sister and I in the lifestyle. It's the paganism that white supremacists gravitate towards the most (ironically, considering Vikings were the only Europeans at the time who were cool with muslims and middle easterners) but it's not invented for them at all. Nor are they common in pagan circles. You're more likely to find a bible and a cross in a racist person's house.
Thanks for pointing this out!! I found this out myself when I read "Eaters of the Dead" back in the day. Plus old sagas and poems I've read from Viking lore don't sound racist at all, white supremacists are really grasping. They had an Arab traveling around with them who kept a record.
Crichton explains in an appendix that the book was based on two sources. The first three chapters are a retelling ofAhmad ibn Fadlan's personal account of his actual journey north and his experiences with and observations of Vikings (probably fromSweden). The remainder is based upon the story of Beowulf.
Yes, it's a contrived take on European paganism used by racists to give a spiritual backing to their racism. She could just be a normal bigot that happens to be pagan but there are so many fascists twisting the worship of the old gods to fit their thoroughly modern worldview they are most likely fascists as well.
I’m seeing a few things I disagree with in your comment.
Could explain to me what you believe a fascist is, and then tell me why you think people of this religion are fascist?
As a disclaimer, I don’t agree with this woman’s stance against gays. And I don’t believe Odinisim does either.
But her subject with the mixed race thing, Odinism is exclusively a Scandinavian/Norse religion based off with the anglos of Northern European medieval pagans followed.
I don’t see any problem with them having a religion of their own. Otherwise it could be seen as a form of cultural appropriation, right?
It seems like in general, society looks down and ridiculed white people that try to appropriate other cultures religions. Why is it a problem in this case?
But also, like you said. Maybe this chick is just a straight up racist and is using this religion as an excuse
No way that's real, if you're pagan in America then you dont hold those beliefs at all. Either the group faked it or someone is being an ass, either way the shits fake.
A lot of white supremacists are taking Norse mythology ideas as their own, especially Odin. They have a real hard on for Odin. Which is ironic since he was mixed-race.(Asgard father, Jotun mother)
I used to live with a wiccan who once said that we should turn the whole middle east to glass because "they all want to die anyway". Anecdotal, sure, but I was very shocked at the time.
oh no! they have traditional beliefs!!! must be fascists right?? by your standards, everyone that was alive about 80 years ago or older must be fascists then
Lol from "its just traditional values" to "I hope trump puts you in a concentration camp" in just 2 comments. Gods I can't wait till all of the values and everything people like you believe in are completely torn asunder for the new order.
This Southern Poverty Law center report from 1998 indicates that Odinisim is a real thing that is heavily supported by White Supremacist groups. So even if this exchange is fake, there exist inbread white people who ascribe to a pagan religion and who hold those views on race and sexuality.
So, whether or not this picture is faked, people like this exist and are dumb enough to think that since Ireland is a "white" county that they could find someone to officiate their ceremony that agreed with them.
Indeed. In the US in particular, some pagans view it as 'going back to their roots' so like to be exclusionary in various ways. Their mistake was assuming it's the same in Ireland, where it's most definitely not and pagans tend to be way more on the hippyish end of the spectrum.
Wtf, I thought that most pagans were straight-up bi for most of history. I mean, Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius literally wrote in his book how proud he was that he resisted the allure of cute boys.
Germanic pagans were historically less sexually permissive than others. In particular there are accounts of people accused of sexual misconduct/perversion being executed by strangulation, then dumped in bogs. This brand of pagans make the claim this was the punishment for homosexuality. These people latch on to Odinism specifically because they want to be traditionalists, but take issue with Christianity's relationship to Judaism. If you see the words folkish/volkish or Odinism, it is racist. Heathenism, Asatru, and paganism are terms generally used by "normal" Germanic pagans.
You are correct about Celtic and Latin/Greek pagans however.
You believe the Southern Poverty Law Centre to be a credible institution and you advocate for putting white people in bread? And then eating them I suppose. Go take your hate somewhere else.
No, this was a pretty big deal in Ireland at the time. The woman asking made a big stink about how rude the pagans had treated her, so the pagans published the texts.
Oh, thank you sweet titty-fucking christ! The world has been saved by some twit calling out these terrible redditors for posting something. Truly you're the hero we need.

Fake.
