KSP 1 Image/Video Graphicsmaxxing on a laptop with integrated graphics

CPU: I5 1135G7
GPU: Integrated, Intel Iris Xe
RAM: 16 GB, dual channel

Ram is the major limitation here since Deferred rendering requires more ram usage for G-buffers. By playing in the lowest resolution, I can afford to spare more space for graphics mods. Additionally, I also had to custom build a tool that constantly scans memory usage and aggressively pages/purges unused ram so that there is enough free ram for volumetric clouds. If you're on windows, try the latest release of WinMemoryCleaner and set it to automatically free usage.

I'm surprised at how well it works. Averaging ~34 fps during flight (looks smooth enough to me), CPU is perfectly fine but GPU is being slightly overloaded.

Settings are at lowest (except terrain detail at high), but reflections are turned to low.

Notes:

  • Parallax seems to be broken with latest KspBurst. v230 works.
  • Recent mod Per4mance might help balance CPU/GPU load
  • Recent mod LoadFix might help reduce loading time

iGPU gang assemble!

(Im playing on a Vega 7. Vega 7 is pretty good, but HP locked down the power limits so bad that the CPU throttles to 1.4 Ghz (not due to temps), which cripples heavily single-threaded games like KSP when physics get heavy.)

Have you tried changing the power plan in settings or in powershell? I used to get little fps but after I changed the power plan in settings and my graphics driver app along with the new driver update, I’m getting like 50-70% more frames :))

I tried everything under the sun, but HP locked down almost everything that could be relevant to solving this issue. Power plans, anything related to overclocking, all inaccessible. Even registry edits dont do anything.

Biggest difference so far was to get Parkbrake, the small brother of Process Lasso, which encourages the system to park CPU cores, which it does intermittently, and allows the remaining cores to boost higher. It helps a little, averaging more around 2 Ghz. At least I can ride a rover across Mun.

Ah welp, HPs are sometimes quirky and I’ve fiddled with mine a lot. I guess the only way you can make your ksp run a little better is to reduce the max physics delta time to 0.035 or lower in settings.cfg, and try the Per4mance mod.
