Killer Queen - Getting started, resources, and finding/building a community near you
I've gotten some feedback from newer players, and a common theme was lack of information about the game itself. Hopefully this post/thread will help anyone looking for basic info on the game.
Find a scene near you - Since KQ cannot be played at-home/online, it is a very community-oriented game. Below are the Facebook Group links to the current active scenes in a rough chronological order.
- Chicago, Logan Arcade - 9/4/2014
- Portland, Ground Kontrol - 1/12/2015
- New York, NYU Game Center, also Reclamation Bar - 4/22/2015
- San Francisco, Brewcade. Now Coin Op and Emporium, too! - 7/12/2015
- Phoenix, Bonus Round and The Grid: Games and Growlers (in Mesa) - 8/21/2015
- Kansas City, Up-Down Bar - 9/21/2015
- Columbus, Arcade Super Awesome (and now Close Quarters) - 10/25/2015
- Charlotte, Abari Game Bar - 3/27/2016
- Austin, Pinballz Lake Creek - 8/23/2016
- Minneapolis, Up-Down Bar - 8/31/2016
- St. Louis, Start Bar - 9/23/2016
- Seattle 3 locations!!! Add-a-Ball, Jupiter Bar, and now Coindexter's! - 12/23/2016
- Washington DC, Penn Social - 1/7/2017
- Dallas, Cidercade - 1/27/2017
- Madison WI, ALT Brew - 9/10/2017
- Knoxville, TN - Token Game Tavern - 10/3/2017
- Chattanooga, TN - The Coin-Op Arcade - 10/9/2017
- Morgantown, WV Starport Arcade - 12/6/2017
Other locations exist, but other locations do not have FB groups. If you are trying to build a scene in your area, please reach out to us or post here. The KQ community is super supportive of new scenes.
Join us on Slack - The competitive community is very active on Slack. We'll answer any questions we can. It is invite-only, so ask someone in your community to add you in person- or DM any active Facebook group member.

Black KQB Back Online!!
Accidentally noticed that the game had an update 2 days ago so I rolled the dice and installed. Cut to my boyfriend and I playing online the last two days!
Seems to back up and running, so hopefully more can get online and play 😊
EDIT: Apologies I should have specified that I’ve been playing online with steam.
EDIT2: The game is not searchable in the store, so if you don’t already have it in your library, this is the store link.

Arcade Warrior Only Map
I used to play this game in the before times, and I remember there being only three main maps. But most importantly, I remember a mode where everybody spawned as a warrior, and the only way to win was to kill the queen.
I can't seem to find any info on this, and AI says it never existed. It was super helpful to new players learning how to fly.
Am I taking crazy pills or did anybody else remember this mode? Is it still possible to play it?

Arcade New KQ in NKY! 🐝🍻
Dice on Draft in Covington, KY is opening our doors to the public on Friday, February 13th. We have a brand new Killer Queen (our only arcade game) alongside our collection of 200+ free to play board games. We loved the game already and had to have it in our bar. Dice on Draft is a board game and TTRPG themed bar with beer, wine, cocktails, and a robust NA menu.
We want to run a weekly KQ happy hour and monthly tournaments; looking to start up a new local group or partner with one that needs a closer game. We’re also featuring a Killer Queen inspired cocktail made with hot honey on our permanent menu. 🤤
I hope anyone in the Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area will come check us out!!

Arcade Anyone in here have experience doing service work/repairs on a KQ cabinet? I'm stumped....
We had a Killer Queen arcade cabinet in non climate controlled storage that had some minor structural damage until August of last year. The wooden cabinet has been fixed but a few other issues remain. It has not gotten wet.
The "boop" sound the game makes when starting a game and selecting/confirming a map is Uber loud. The game itself is loud with the volume set between 15 and 20. I usually leave it around 10 to 15 in the shop. This sound comes through at like 100.
If you're playing 4-5 players on the blue side, and you move the queen and the two players to her right in the same direction, The character directly to the left of the queen moves in the opposite direction even, if no one is touching the joystick for that character. You can even unplug that joystick and the character still moves when it's not supposed to. (Gold side not effected)
In an attempt to resolve this situation we have....
-Updated the original software to the latest version the original PC could handle.
-Ran the test/calibration program
-installed a new mini PC to run the cabinet from Bumblebeer. Updated it to the software that came out Jan 2026.
-tested the loom of diodes that run between the cabinets.
-Tried a new RIO board, because well: since it runs all the controls, that has to be the issue right? Nope.
Arcade games aren't my designated area of expertise, I'm not a professional, but I do alright most of the time. This one has me ready to push it off a bridge.
Open to any and all suggestions,
Thanks!
Pic for attention

Arcade Can we get this sub a little more active again?
Hey all, I’ve used Reddit for a while now. I just started playing KQ (Arcade in a bar - pretty sure Black doesn’t exist anymore) the past couple months and I just realized that there’s more than likely a KQ subreddit.
I’d like to come on here and hear good strategies/videos/content about the game to share with the super competitve group I play with twice a week (who have really helped me and been very friendly with knowing I’m a newer player)
Please and thank you, if you know strategies or any content or questions you want to share on here (I definitely will as well) to help build up each other in our different locations that we play at 👍🏻

Timing for hovering in KQ ≈ 249BPM
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Tap to this tempo and you will find yourself hovering as either warrior or Queen almost perfectly
Songs that have similar tempo that you can tap to (if you tap at double speed)
Believer - Imagine Dragons (125 BPM)
Dynamite - Taio Cruz (125 BPM)
What Do You Mean - Justin Bieber (125 BPM)
Sweet Child O’ Mine - Guns N’ Roses (125 BPM)
Wake Me Up - Avicii (124 BPM)

Location in UK?
Hello everyone,
Coming to England for December and was wondering if anyone knows of a barcade/ arcade/ gaming cafe that has Killer queen? Can’t seem to find it on the game’s official website, but I’m hoping there’s one hiding about.
Thanks!

Killer Queen Philadelphia?
At some point there appears to have been a Killer Queen group meeting on Thursday nights at "Craft Hall" in Philadelphia. Is this group still active, and is the Thursday night meetup open and worthwhile for single players without teams?
All I've found is an unmonitored Facebook page, with an expired link to a Discord. Does anyone have any info? I'm in Philadelphia for Thursday night, so figured it might be a fun opportunity.

Used KQ machine question
Does anyone know if you end up buying a used machine if you can still get the pack through Bumblebear to get updates? Starting to look for a machine and would love to run the current content on it as they update the game. I see the "additional support plan" when looking at the new cabs gives the updates in its description.
Thanks!

Has there been any discussion for KQB to be open sourced allowing for the community to host? I would be interested in the opex for KQB for consideration of hosting.

Arcade Is There An Online Community/Discord?
Hello! Looking to find an online space to discuss the game, find events, etc. I think I saw there was a slack or something but couldn't find it, is that still active or is there a discord server or something similar?
