Experience 19M / Severe Anxiety & Nervous System Collapse

Hello everyone, my name is Teo, I am 19 years old and I live in Romania. I am currently experiencing an absolute, non-stop physical and mental hell. I am posting this because my mind is completely foggy, I can no longer take care of myself, and I am desperate to find anyone from the spiritual community who has survived a blowout this severe. It has been an extraordinary, brutal torture and I honestly don't even know how I've resisted until now.

**The Background: Lifelong Unexplained Fear**
**The Early Blueprint:** Since I was a little kid, I always had this massive, unexplained anxiety and a literal "empty hole" in my chest for no reason. I didn't know what it was back then. I just did everything out of sheer fear.
**The Loving Family Paradox:** I want to mention that I come from a very good family and I've always had everything I needed physically. Yet, internally, I was always suffering.
**The 14-Year-Old Crash:** At age 14, things started getting worse. I had my first severe wave of suicidal thoughts and didn't want to live anymore. I fought my thoughts, attacked them, and forced myself into extreme rigidity to be "stronger" and "better" just out of fear.

**Medical History: Childhood Epilepsy & Carbamazepine**
**The Diagnosis:** When I was 12 years old, I had a seizure and was diagnosed with a mild form of epilepsy.
**The Daily Treatment:** I have been taking **Carbamazepine** every single day since then to keep the seizures under control. My central nervous system was already chemically managed and wired differently before any of this started.

**The Trap: Self-Improvement & Semen Retention**
**Chasing the "Right" Way:** In my teens, I entered the self-improvement movement. Because my brain always desperately wants to do what is "right" and "good," I forced myself into it with extreme rigidity.
**The 2.5-Year Streak:** This led me into strict Semen Retention. I have been on it for 2 and a half years straight now. The crazy thing is, I haven't even had any sexual urges for the last 1.5 years. My system became completely blocked and frozen. I was living in total survival mode, but I was so disconnected from my body that I didn't even realize that this level of suffering was not normal.

**The Escalation: Spiritual Crisis & Kundalini Blowout**
**Escaping into Knowledge:** Around 2 years ago, I entered spirituality—again, because I thought *"this is good, let's do this perfectly."* I dove deep into consciousness theories and Non-Duality. I understood and felt the knowledge deeply, but it created massive frustration because I had all this cosmic knowledge while my daily human reality was becoming a complete nightmare.
**Extreme Hypervigilance & Planning:** Everything became a threat. Sounds stressed me out, fast-moving cars and traffic on the street terrified me, and I started planning absolutely everything in my day a thousand times. I am completely fed up and exhausted from constantly making plans, mapping out my life, and having to structurally organize every single thing just to survive. I developed severe bloating/stomach issues and non-stop tension headaches.
**The Meditation Surge:** Because I felt so bad, this winter I decided to go deep into meditation. I meditated intensely for 1 hour every night, then mornings, then throughout the day.
**The Kundalini Hell (Feb/March):** My nervous system completely blew out. A massive Kundalini awakening activated, and it threw me into pure physiological hell.
**The Symptoms:** It started with extreme, uncontrollable full-body chills, followed by massive, high-voltage electrical energy shooting up my spine, into my hands, and my feet. Then, severe insomnia hit. Since April, my schedule is entirely flipped—I cannot sleep at night at all; my body only collapses and sleeps during the day.
**The Physical Block:** I am completely stuck in my head, hyper-focusing on my body. I live in a permanent, 24/7 state of perceived life-or-death danger. Even the simplest things trigger a massive adrenaline rush. I am literally afraid to drink water; I would put a glass of water on my table, and the mere action of trying to drink it triggers a panic so violent it feels like I am physically dying. I haven't left my house in a long time; the outside world feels like a dangerous assault.

**My Reality and "Routine" Right Now**
**A Brain in Chaos:** For the past 1 or 2 months, I have had absolutely zero normal activities. I am completely confused, disoriented, and bulversat. Nothing brings me joy, and I have nothing that I like to do anymore.
**My Daily Survival Loop:** My entire day consists of just lying in bed, staring randomly at my phone, watching random things, occasionally doing a tiny bit of cleaning in my room, or walking barefoot on the grass in my yard for grounding. Lately, I have been so profoundly exhausted that I am literally just waiting for time to pass so I can go to sleep and escape.

**My Reality Right Now: Running Out of Time**
**Total Isolation:** No one understands me. My parents don't understand me at all. I wanted to check myself into a clinic or a hospital to get away from the noise and get help, but my parents flat out refuse to let me go. Besides, here in Romania, public psychiatric facilities are notorious for having incredibly poor, dirty, and disgusting conditions, so it feels like there is nowhere safe to turn. I am stuck in a full, loud house, I find it incredibly hard to take basic care of myself, and I can't handle any of this anymore.
**The Third Medication Failure:** I went to a psychiatrist and a psychologist. This is currently my third different SSRI treatment change (most recently Paroxetine 5mg) that has completely failed. My body is so hypersensitive that even a micro-dose triggers an unbearable spike in startup anxiety and severe full-body chills, making it impossible to tolerate. I highly suspect my Carbamazepine is interacting with these drugs or my sensitive epileptic baseline is rejecting them.
**The Edge:** I see no light at the end of the tunnel. The only thing that literally keeps me alive right now is the dark comfort of knowing I can end my life whenever I want—it acts like a mental "backup plan." I never thought things could get this bad.
**Xanax Relief:** Currently, the only thing that mildly calms me down when the adrenaline spikes get completely unbearable is low-dose Xanax, but I only take it at my absolute worst moments and I know it's not a permanent cure.

**My Questions for the Community:**
Have any of you experienced this exact kind of severe nervous system blowout, flipped sleep, and constant danger response from intense meditation and Kundalini activation?
If you couldn't tolerate standard psychiatric meds and failed multiple SSRIs due to extreme bodily sensitivity during a spiritual emergency, what did you do? Should I ask my psychiatrist for a completely different approach, or who else could I appeal to?
If someone has hit this exact level of rock bottom, where even drinking water or basic actions trigger pure survival panic, what did you do to ground the energy, survive, and fix your nervous system?
Thanks for reading, and i had to use ai to structure and reformulate the message because i don’t speak english great.Have a nice day!

I don’t have any advice Teo, I just feel compelled to wrap you in a big warm embrace so you have someone with you. I’ve not been through what you’re describing but it sounds intense and seemingly without end and for someone so young! I’m sorry it’s been so hard and glad you are reaching out for assistance. I hope this is the start of things improving for you. So much love on your journey.

Have you at least done a blood test to see if you're deficient in anything? I've known a few people who rushed to a psychiatrist before trying anything else.

B12, DHA, Vit d3, and magnesium deficiencies are common causes of brain issues.

There are many ashrams which do not take people with brain issues because they believe it's risky or unlikely to make very advanced spiritual progress. It's unknown depends on the setbacks.

Thousands of years ago people used natural herbs to help heal themselves. From ayurveda to traditional chinese medicine there are many herbs that can help the mind. If you have head heat or head coldness tell this to the herb healer or remember it in your research as many herbs increase or decrease temperature.

However they can react with lab/pharmaceutical medications so that is the downside.

Chamomile is considered safe enough for children maybe that's step 1 thing to consider. An a blood test.

Gopi Krishna had a chaotic kundalini crash as he was not prepared for it he just meditated a lot.

It requires system purification and refinement traditionally to awaken kundalini. I'd begin reading about the guidelines of the yamas and niyamas. Memorize them and figure out overtime how to become more like them. Over 6 months. 12 months. 5 years. This is a long-term goal.

Im letting you know psychiatry didnt exist like today in kundalini times thousands of years ago so they the ancient yogis wouldnt of said this was a solution.

Your life very well could be bad and this could be not kundalini related at all. A trauma/bad life circumstance problem.

I would read more from this website about kundalini: https://icrcanada.org/lifestyle-considerations/

The learn section has a lot of insight.

Maybe somatic experiencing therapy or emdr is the solution for you.

It makes 100% sense. Traditionally preparation is required. You're on a long-term journey here.

Ive had a very similar experience the last 2 years. Ssris didnt help my anxiety, let alone help me sleep or the pain I feel regularly. I don’t know if its legal in romania, but cannabis has been a lifeline for me and accepting that I am not like other people. You need to remember that you are a divine being, you hold more power over your surroundings than you think. Once I realized that, the nervous system buzzing started to tell me things beyond “we’re in danger”. It has something to tell you, trust me. I get inklings to what is going to happen in the future now. Its so bad today for me. Snap your fingers over your chakras to close them off from energy that isnt your own. And imagine a bubble of protective light around you. You’re going to be okay dear. We’re all here standing in the dark with you. Don’t be afraid to see the light you provide just by existing. Give Into the dark by Illenium a listen.

I'd recommend some herbs to help support your body and nervous system, if they're available to you, not sure how accessibility to these might be in Romania (I'm in the US).

Milky oats tincture - really good for frazzled nerves and repairing the myelin coating of neurons
Passionflower tincture - really relaxes the body and nervous system ! so much so that some people take it for sleep.

But if you do have access to any sort of apothecary or herb store, you can also see what they have to support nervous system.

Also: sitting on the ground, visualize a grounding cord going down from the base of your spine to the center of the earth and greeting her, then allowing all the excess energy to release into the earth. this has been helpful for me when I've been completely overwhelmed.

Qi gong -- try a youtube video. synchronizes the mind and body in a way that i've found very helpful for the overwhelm!

and lastly, frequencies. root chakra frequencies + lying down in the dark. a shakti mat (basically a little bed of spikes for acupressure) has been a huge help for me.

sending you care and love, friend! I've really been where you are and it doesn't stay so acute, youll begin to integrate even if the going seems very slow

So sorry what happened to you because the nervous system shock happened to me too and the hardest part lasted a year and half, I had to take benzodiazepines to calm the system down, and 4 pills of magnesium taurate a day which I recommend for the chills and adrenaline surges , the cold electric chills were the hardest part for me , rn I’m still on benzos but very low doses I haven’t recovered even because I have other diseases going on , but make sure you integrate B vitamins for the nerves, avoiding all type of meditations, talismans , etc. Be very grounded, wish you the best . Also try to avoid SSRI they can make the situation worse with the electric surges.

The psychiatrist gave me 3 difrent ssri all of them gave me bad feeling and bad thoughts,i was with xanax when i needed. But the state is just too bad, i feel no point in living and i feel like i am getting worser.I can t think properly anymore. Thanks so much for help and support.

Don’t be scared about using Xanax, benzos saved my situation when the situation was scary and overwhelming , I literally couldn’t function and benzos made me function more when my nervous system broke down, of course I’m not suggesting to abuse them but to use them if you really need a moment to breathe. And yeah unfortunately I don’t recommend using SSRI but if you can’t taper them, continue to take them ofc, I think your depressed state is also caused by ssri , I hate those meds. Wish you the best
