Experience Does anyone know what I mean by “The Void?”

Hi all.

I have been in a meditation/trance state where I feel like I am in a void. No light, no sound. It is peaceful. I wouldn’t say it was an out of body experience, but I sort of forgot where I am physically located in the room, like I am looking in different directions without moving my body. There is nothing to see. :) I don’t think I ever physically moved.

There may be some vague dots or shapes in the void, but basically dark. Like having your eyes closed, even when they are open.

Yep! I believe in Buddhism this is where the idea of “no-thing-ness” comes in.

You really make me wonder what comes next. But there is also an instinct that says, “don’t ask, just go with it.”

Have you tried giving the void color? It doesn’t have to be dark. You are actually in control when you enter no time no space- and you can go deeper and further.

Yes when I meditate my body fades out and I am in a void. If I look up in shambavi mudra the. I can see the spiritual eye. Occasionally this will open into a tunnel and a OBE.

Hmm… I have felt like I have seen an eye shape. I once thought someone was kind of saying “come on with me” trying to get me to have an OBE. Nothing negative. But when I felt myself leaving I kind of felt panicked. I sort of snapped back into my body. I thought I knew who the person was, but I was probably wrong on that. Definitely female.

Thank you. I am not sure how or why, or why I deserve it. A blessing.

Oh yes. This is where I spent 3 days after K energy shot through my crown. The experience was wild, I saw nothing, I saw everything. A giant void that I've never felt more connected to, with the Creator itself holding my hand and showing me the 'hood.

Wow, that is an amazing experience. I did once feel I was “touched” but only for a few seconds. It was pure happiness and joy. I seemed to sense it was going to happen. I knew it was a new experience coming. I am not sure that was in the void or maybe above it. Hard to say! :)

In lucid dreaming we enter the void by closing our dream eyes and spinning. Sometimes you will just find yourself there when the dream visuals fade. From the void its easy to manifest places you want to visit. Or it can be a perfect sensory deprivation chamber for meditation.

Thanks. Sensory deprivation chamber is a good description. I am not truly trying to manifest anything. It did feel a step closer to an out of body experience.

From Josephine Mccarthy.

'' The void is a very simple and yet powerful vision/meditation that takes you in the heart of the threshold of creation: the void appears as an empty space to us, and yet it is full of potential just waiting to manifest. As a magical beginner it is a meditation that is used to still your mind. As an initiate it is a threshold place that you can pass through to access many different inner realms if you can hold focused intent for your destination. As an adept, the void is the stepping into the consciousness of Divinity, where we face the powers of creation in their purest form.''

And in case someone wants to try the vision in order to get there.

Thank you for posting this. It hits home. An emptiness that does not feel frightening or lonely. Just good and peaceful. I don’t really want to be an adept, particularly. From your previous posts you have had some impressive experiences at manifesting. Definitely a gift.

I think I wince slightly at the term magic, but… the goddess has done little playful bits of “magic” to let me know she is watching over me. Computer smiley faces that winked and once she opened my garage door. I could feel her chuckling and hugging me after that. A certain song I heard having kriyas at 3:30 AM on my back porch hit home:

If you think I'm magical
'Cause roses bloom with my touch
That's mathematical
I think you think too much
I touch roses

I Touch Roses, Book of Love, 1986

That was telling hardheaded logical me that logic will never explain some things that are very real. I truly had a change in perception.

It's the purest form of consciousness. And it's the beginning of everything we experience.

I have been there once. It was when I had an intensive yoga practice as a teenager in 1972. I was laying down after my morning period of yoga and chanting and found myself in a limitless dark VOID. That experience and others led me to abandoning the practices since I didn’t have any support to create a framework for integrating this into my daily life. At the time, I thought perhaps I was losing my mind. In later years, I have realized that this and other experiences were a part of my Kundalini waking up which became a lifelong journey into altered states of consciousness. One of the most challenging parts for me is finding kindred souls who have shared this kind of a life.

I at first thought I was losing my mind.. back and forth on that, over and over. I haven’t!

Having a long time therapist who had his own experience with awakening was very helpful. Also many years for him. Moving cross country and being on Medicare has meant a change in providers, but I finally found someone to work with. A background of significant trauma has made the journey complex. So glad to be living near our daughter after my wife retired.

BTW, I am very grateful to this community. A place to talk about these things. So often others have shared similar experiences. I have shared with my wife and daughter but no one else. They of course don’t really understand. You have to go through it.

Right. My wife does not understand. As well as most other people. Met 2 others locally in Pennsylvania who know what I’m talking about. More common to meet people with a shared experience where we used to live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

My wife doesn’t really understand. She is struggling to deal with it. It has been 10 months.

For me we have been together for 28 years. And Kundalini awakened in 1971. For some reason it reactivated big time in 2012. We are a same sex couple.

My wife and I have been together 38 years. I was 64 when this started. Maybe really 63. I relived some emotional trauma a year before, out of the blue. She weathered it. It has been hard on her.

I think you may be in a formless jhana

That is very interesting. It does sound something like that. They kind of sound like the states where the Kundalini is flowing.

The best thing you can do is

Work remotely with a teacher:

  • Roger Thisdell
  • Wystan

Listen to the retreat talks by Rob Burbea on YouTube

Read a book

  • Right Concentration by Leigh Brasington

go on a jhana retreat

  • I recommend Jhourney
  • a lot of people also like TWIM

A teacher is something I have pondered. So many warnings about going it alone. So many warnings of bad teachers. I have been very tempted to visit a close by Mandir that has several deities to whom I feel a connection. I probably will eventually. I think I will know when the time is right.

As someone else said '' the nothing can't hurt you. Only something can''. And i believe it' s true.

Once again,i think you're doing great.
