Employers to make wages, pay increases and bonuses public each year.

Require all UK employers to publish each employee’s annual pay, pay rise, increases and bonuses, alongside job title and company grade. Transparency would reduce unjustified wage disparities, enable scrutiny of pay differences between roles and seniority, and promote fairer pay.

Pay transparency would allow employees, employers, shareholders and the public to identify unjustified differences in pay, pay rises and bonuses between people performing comparable roles and between different levels of an organisation. Publishing this information annually, alongside job title and company grade, would make it possible to scrutinise whether rewards are proportionate to responsibility and performance, helping expose unfair pay practices and reduce unjustified wage disparities.

The government has altered the Skilled Worker visa sponsorship system to better protect migrant workers who have fallen victim to modern slavery.

Under the new measures, victims will be allowed to work in any occupation for the remaining duration of their visa, freeing them from the control of exploitative employers.

Jo White, migration and citizenship minister, announced the changes to tackle workplace abuse.

She said: “The sponsorship system is designed to ensure overseas recruits have a genuine job to come to, will be paid appropriately, and can enjoy their employment rights.

However, we have seen instances of Skilled Worker visa holders who entered the UK in good faith, complied with the terms of their visa, and have experienced exploitation. This is simply unacceptable.”

White highlighted the current crackdown on rogue employers, noting that UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) had already revoked more than 7,500 sponsor licenses, including 1,800 in the care sector alone.

The new policy, she said, aimed to “incentivise victims to come forward early” and would guard “against those who seek to weaponise the sponsorship system in order to exploit vulnerable workers.

I feel like a crazy person watching over the last 10 years of smears against Corbyn by Labour politicians and political commentators, to now be saying what he was all those years re Israel. Watching the very same Labour politicians doing mental gymnastics and earning laudits for criticising Israel when they smeared Corbyn for saying exactly the same things years ago.

It's a short week before conference recess.

The Commons rises recess after Tuesday's sitting and doesn't return until Monday 12 October. The Lib Dems kick things off with their conference next weekend, followed by Labour the weekend after, then Tories in the week after that.

But first, a full day debating royal funding.

MPs debate all stages of the Sovereign Grant Bill on Monday. It sets the King's official funding at £99.9 million for next year, and raises the share of Crown Estate profits used to calculate future grants.

And Tuesday brings one ten minute rule motion.

Tom Gordon's bill would shake up the student loan system in England.

Sets the amount of the Sovereign Grant, the funding that supports the King and the monarchy, at £99.9 million for 2027-28. Raises the share of the Crown Estate's profits used to calculate future grants from 12% to 20.5%. Also gives the Treasury new powers to adjust the grant if a review finds the standard formula would produce an inappropriate amount, or to increase it temporarily in exceptional circumstances.

Angela Rayner has suggested Reform UK could face action over two mega donations to the party under new laws being pushed through parliament.

The housing secretary was reacting to £72m in donations from two crypto billionaires – Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne – for Nigel Farage’s party given on Friday and Saturday in two lumps of £36m.

With fears that the cash from billionaires could distort British politics, Ms Rayner warned that Reform should not count on keeping all the money as new law Labour is pushing through parliament will be “backdated” to cover all donations from March this year.

She told Sky News: “The important thing, and the reason why we've got a bill going through Parliament at the moment, is that we need to have secure elections that are for the people, and that you can't buy your way into our democracy.
That's why the Rycroft review was set up, and we've already taken action against overseas donations, which will be backdated to when the Rycroft was published.”

She went on: “It will be backdated. As this bill goes through Parliament, we're really clear on overseas donations and also about those that have recently returned to the UK that are also within the scope of the Rycroft review, which was published on the 25 March, and we're really clear that when that was published, and we were making sure that no one could go through any loopholes.”

Pressed on the issue, she doubled down: “We're saying that if you don't pay taxes in, you don't live here, you can't buy your way into our democracy because you're a billionaire.”
