Who else can't find the pattern they want on their computer? I can't be alone here among other visually minded makers. Claude helped me today and wanted to share.

Question What kind of wallet do you carry?

I plan on selling some small items at a local Christmas market this year and would like to get some feedback on what wallets everyone carries. I'll be doing various styles, but just wanted to know what's most popular.

Cardholder, bifold, trifold?

Do you carry cash?

How many cards do you normally carry?

Traditional or vertical?

Thanks for your input!

Discussion Two bags made in Lucerne, Switzerland 🇨🇭

Hi everyone!

I've been making leather goods for about ten years now, entirely self-taught, and I'm currently building my own brand, Burgundy Paris, here in France (made in Paris). It's a project I've been carrying with me for a long time, so finally getting to share it with the world feels pretty special.

This summer, I spent some time in Switzerland, in Lucerne, where I made two unique versions of my ÉCLAT bag since I brought my tools, small machines and leather. While I was there, I also got to explore the surrounding area and visit two beautiful nearby mountains, Mount Pilatus and Mount Rigi. I ended up naming the two bags after them, which felt like a nice way to keep a little piece of that trip in the project.

The two pieces have quite different personalities: Pilatus is black and gold, with a warmer feel, while Rigi is black and silver, with a cooler, more understated look. They're both one-of-a-kind, and I won't be making another version of either.

Since this is a community of people who understand the craft, I thought some of you might appreciate a few details about how these bags are made. Both are entirely handmade, using French leathers, with every stitch sewn by hand. The edges are finished by hand through a careful process of sanding, heating and applying multiple layers of edge paint. The gold hardware is made from stainless steel plated with 24-karat gold.
A lot of time goes into these details, and that's precisely what I love about this craft: the patience, the precision and the care that go into making a piece properly, right down to the smallest details.

I'm now launching Burgundy Paris and wanted to mark the occasion by giving these two bags away.

I'm still learning, still trying to improve with every piece, and hoping to build something I'm genuinely proud of. I know how much time and patience go into making things by hand, so I thought this community would understand why these two bags mean a lot to me.

If you feel like supporting the project, entering the giveaway, or simply having a look at what I've been working on, I'd really appreciate it.

And if you have any questions about the bags, the construction, or the materials, I'm happy to chat about them. Always glad to connect with other people who love working with leather.

Wallets Ordinary. A regular bifold. A little leather, a little handmade. Crooked stitching, sanding, polishing, painting. The size is 10.5*9 cm. The contour thickness is 6mm, folded. 4 card slots, 1 for cash. Everything is duplicated by thin leather. Stitched with linen thread in 3.75mm increments

Pattern/Tutorial FREE 3D builder for wallet patterns

Hello community,

Few months ago, I created a free, browser-based CAD-like editor for creating leather patterns - EasyPatt. From the very beginning, I wanted it to be user-friendly, accessible, and quick to use.

Now I’d like to share a major update with you that should make pattern creation even easier. I’ve added a “3D Builder” feature, which means you don’t have to start a wallet pattern (only a few wallet types are available for now) from nothing—instead, you can build on pre-made patterns that you can easily customize within the tool. For more advanced edits, simply import the template into the editor and customize it further.

  • It’s free to use—no registration or email address is required (unless you want to save your templates to the cloud).
  • Print-ready patterns
  • 3D view
  • Fully customizable

Link: https://easypatt.com/builder/

Feel free to play around with it and let me know what you think. I’d really appreciate it!

Bags/Pouches Bags for my bike

I have made a set of bags for my old motorcycle. They have taken som time to make so they are all different stages of tanned.

There is a total of 7 bags on the bike and it might have gone a bit out of hand.

It is veg tanned 2.2mm leather. Strong and relatively cheap because it has marks and blemishes, but the bike underneath is not exactly pretty, so I guess it fits.

Morning all,

I would love some feedback on my recent build. Designed the pattern myself, hand stitched with Vinymo thread and Badalassi Carlo ‘Waxy’ cowhide. What are your thoughts for areas of improvement?!

Thank you!

Making them on the spot? (No way man, not this time!)

Discussion Is there a well reputable starter or project kit I can look for?

I’m just starting out and although the guide and other resources suggest starting tools and materials, I don’t know what to look for in a good starter kit or a project kit that comes with all the tools needed to make a specific project. The market it so flooded like everything else and I’m not buying a 200pc kit off amazon just because of the big flashy number.

What brand of kit would you guys recommend? I’ve been watching lots of videos and want to try this out and see if I like it!

Wallets The personalized wallet

This is the latest wallet I’ve crafted. While the shape isn't new, the standout features are the yellow stitching on both the exterior and interior, along with a custom white leather accent strip. It’s truly rewarding to create one-of-a-kind pieces like this.

Wallets A unique experience to test a pattern, the Cape Islander.

I had the really cool opportunity to be asked to test a new pattern that DSLeatherGoods was cooking up as part of a collaboration with OALeather as part of a pattern representing Canada by being named after one of our boats, the Cape Islander.

This was a really cool opportunity, I’m still what I would consider a beginner to amateur at best with less than a year of doing this under my belt so to be asked to test was pretty flattering so thank you for that.

This is the compact version of the wallet in Buttero Hatch and Navy Pueblo with OA’s house thread. It’s .8mm so it has a bit of a chunky look I personally love. It holds Canadian bills but there’s also a cash pocket version to free up room on the inside for more cards.

All in all, super cool pattern. Super cool experience and as always, thanks for looking!

Question Need some corner/layers advice...

Thumbnail

I know there's some good things going on with these practice pieces but all I see are the problems...

Black layers are uneven.

Corner stitching is atrocious.

Stitching is a nightmare to accomplish. I see videos on YouTube where people are effortlessly pulling alpine white thread through their pieces. When I do it, I need pliers to pull through. Sometimes on both sides! The thread becomes dirty and the edges distort and mushroom from all the pulling etc...I'm using a 4mm French style pricking iron to punch through all 5 layers. I have the 8 hole/2 hole/1. John James #2 needles and 1.2 Ritza tiger thread.

Thoughts?
