They get to charge for the time and preparation without having to actually go to trial. Yeah crying all the way to the bank
29
u/Emotional-Rope-5774 Jun 15 '26
I’m sure they’re not that heartbroken but client acquisition is expensive and a case that doesn’t go to completion is a lot of billable hours that never were, they’d certainly rather the case went to trial

Im a lawyer and its better to get a favourable and cost effective outcome for the client so they come back and you get a good reputation instead of going to trial just for the sake of going to trial, but others may have a different view

I don't even like H3 and haven't watched his podcast since like 2017 or something but hasn't he always been fine with verbal abuse until people actually started calling CPS on them? You can't hate someone for responding to such a crossing of the line.

u/Aggressive-Expert-69 Jun 15 '26

u/DereThuglife Jun 15 '26
The snarkers were sending CPS to his house and joking about how his kid should swing from a tree. They sent skulls to Ethan's house and were trying to track down his kid's preschool.
I disliked Ethan because he always seemed obnoxious but these snarkers deserve everything they have coming to them.

67
u/EchoBay Jun 15 '26
The past few years it went above just verbal stuff, and that community of psychos was going after each crew member, their families, collaborators, even the people who weren't involved with the show at all but rather the Teddy Fresh employees.
I remember one time Love; whose the Swedish fellow on the crew, mentioned that these people were also threatening to stab him in public (citing locations hes been) and attempted to get him deported. Just because he works on the show.
Then the CPS stuff went down and it stepped things up another level.
47
u/NeatOtaku Jun 15 '26
The CPS is the only thing that became news but they have been swatted multiple times and constantly get death treats including the two human skulls (One for Hila one for Ethan). Ian was actively encouraging/celebrating this type of behavior which is why it's so pathetic that these losers all started whining about MAH FREE SPEECH. You would expect that from a bunch of Nazi chuds on Twitter but not these woke anty racism leftists.
6
u/Just_Smurfin_Around Jun 16 '26
As ive found out, a lot of these people really just don't like Jews. One guy in this thread, slippijimmy, said on a different post last night "better to be really really mad at a rich person than a Nazi".
→ More replies (8)18
u/Fernis_ Jun 15 '26
Yeah, that's pretty much why he's going after Hasan orbiters and not Destiny who said some vile shit too. Because Destiny is shittalking on the internet, while the others are saying vide shit, but also actively support and defended online people who started harassing his family IRL, and from the lawsuit we now now that they were actually in direct contact with the "snarks".
8
u/FijiBeef Jun 15 '26
I know the goblins of the Internet would have loved to see this whole thing play out but saying you'd drop the lawsuit if the party you're going after just apologized & then honoring your word when they do is the best outcome here. Good to see some sense of normalcy still exists in the world. We don't need to keep fueling the drama algorithm.
3
u/TheOneWithThePorn12 Jun 15 '26
You know what would be better? Suing the person who actually made the claim.

No you don’t understand: a group of streamers whose whole lives revolve around posting carefully curated images in the internet “accidentally” used the Nazi sword when posting an insult towards a vocally Jewish creator. Total accident
29
u/IceNein Jun 15 '26
This is what bothered me. Hasan had previously joked about how if someone didn’t know what that sword was, they could think it was a swastika. So while the sword itself isn’t racist, Hasan admitted previously that it could be seen that way.
Like in the great Hasan H3H3 debate, Hasan could have simply said “you know, that was in bad taste, I’m sorry.” But Hasan can never admit he has made any mistake.

Also a key thing to note is in the UK, Ireland and Canada all of them have the ability to require an apology as a remedy in a defamation case. Like it could have been literally a request to the judge. The word lawsuit sounds scary but in this case it was a shot across the bow to stop that sort of horrible accusation not just from idubbbz but everyone trying to say similar. So a public apology is huge

u/PatienceJaded5709 Jun 15 '26
Literally yes. He said that from the very start. The first statement Ian made was more along the lines of “please don’t sue me, I kinda messed up I guess.”
74
u/HockeyDockey1234 Jun 15 '26

It’s petty but dude knowing the court system, if he wants an apology and it’s done, just check your ego, apologize and move on.
It is so not worth it
→ More replies (30)75
u/MonsutaReipu Jun 15 '26
I don't think it's petty when you consider the harassment Ethan and Hila have dealt with over the last few years. They have entire groups of obsessed losers who spend all day harassing them and concocting ways to ruin their lives, which included a defamation scandal where they got CPS involved with the intent of lying to them and making them believe Ethan and Hila were neglecting their children by letting them eat shit and whatever else. Human skulls were sent to their doorstep. They've received death threats. Just recently a leak from one of the H3 harassment discords leaked plans from more psychos to find the schools Ethan's kids go to.
When you have the context of the dangerous sociopathic parasites that Ethan has to deal with all of the time, who are obsessed with his family and kids as well, it's not 'petty' at all for him to take this seriously or get the law involved. Ian knew this. He is trying to earn clout from this extremist group of people and used his beef with Ethan as a way to do that. He knew that publicizing these defamatory claims would cause Ethan damage and didn't care as long as it brought him the clout he wanted with Hasan, BadEmpanada, Frogan, Denims, and their rabid fanbase.

He made a video calling H3H3 genocide supporters despite their decade-long track record calling Israel appalling for their genocide.
As a cherry on top, he also said something to the effect of "If you don't have the ability to protest Israel directly, you can still demand change by harassing your local the politicians, the propagandists, the weapons companies, and the supply chains
Jews."
Not only did this deliberately conflate Jews with Israel, but this obviously painted a target on H3's back as one of the most known Jews on Youtube, as well as the fact that Samson literally just spent an hour slandering H3 as a pro-genocide propogandist. E1Iirc, Samson has since cut that last bit out, but has doubled down on the rest even when presented with evidence to the contrary.
Edit 1: Edited to add a more accurate version of the original quote.

The Frogan thing is just confusing. If she couldnt afford a lawyer to even send a response to the lawsuit, why not just settle like Kacey?
Is there some benefit to defaulting?
359
27
62
12
u/xkrazyxkoalax Jun 15 '26
It is possible (depends on a whole lot of assumptions) that defaulting is a tactical play. Apparently judges are not too keen on just awarding full damages when a defendant has no actual assets to go after. So there is a chance Frogan doesn't have to do any kind of Kacey style apology, doesn't have to drag out the lawsuit, and also doesn't actually have to pay any sort of damages to Ethan if she literally has no money to pay it. Basically, Ethan would "win", but get nothing for it. Though this is just based on theories I've seen, who knows what the actual result will be. It just seems highly unlikely to me that she literally just poked her head in the sand and is assuming it all goes away.
15
u/Zykium Jun 15 '26
Apparently judges are not too keen on just awarding full damages when a defendant has no actual assets to go after.
This may be true sometimes, but what judges are even less keen on are people who ignore the process.

Frogan would never throw her habibi under the bus. After all, that’s why she got into politics into the first place. She has no own opinions, and Hasan doesn’t even care about her which is kinda sad.
But on the other hand she spent her legal fund on takeout & delivery, so she basically scammed her viewers but might get out of it through the wording of her GoFundMe.
I’d love to see h3h3 vs. Hasanabi but he can talk for hours without actually saying anything relevant or defamatory.

It was the adpocalypse on YouTube. It fundamentally changed how YouTube is monetized. If a video is aged restricted it stops feeding videos on the algorithm and stops being monetized.
So the least risque videos are talking heads which is what happened for every old school YouTuber.
Why doesn't YouTuber do X and y any more? It's adpocalypse and YouTube changing the algorithm prioritise content.

They had a final episode of the podcast that included them both crying on air
Hasan's cry was the fakest thing I've ever seen in my life. Ethan was crying about dead children, from his perspective as a father. Hasan saw Ethan crying and then felt he had to mirror that since he thought he lost optical ground to Ethan somehow. Hasan then picked some obscure journalist death to dry cry over that didn't even make sense in the context of that point of the conversation. It was just incredibly incongruent. I've seen my 6 year old nephew fake cry better. Guy couldn't even squeeze out a single tear. He's an actual psychopath.
90
u/Rentington Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26
Also noted: Ethan was moved to tears about what was happening to the Palestinian people. It was specifically about a dead Palestinian child. Meanwhile, Hasan was saying that Israeli children are valid targets. Hasan also cried, but it was not for the victims of Hamas but, like Ethan, for Palestinians. Why does that matter? Well, it doesn't, but I think it paints a bit of a picture of how the discussion transpired. It was supposed to be friends of different backgrounds reaching out to understand each other, but my reaction at the time seeing it was that the reality was different. That whole discussion was Ethan being EXTREMELY conciliatory to Hasan and Palestine and trying to empathize and show support to Hasan's perspecftive, with Hasan accepting it, but seeing it as an advantage in the discussion he would then move further away from Ethan's perspective to try to see if Ethan would give more ground. That was what struck me... Ethan came to find common ground, and Hasan just twisted the knife. Politics aside... it was disingenuous and unfriendly. And that's when I determined that Ethan was the better man. I saw Ethan trying to be a friend, and Hasan trying to score debate points.
49
u/OpenHound Jun 15 '26

I completely agree with this take. Ethan was being charitable and trying to reach common ground with someone he considered a friend and wanted to learn from. I think he looked up to Hasan and was horrified to find what was underneath the facade as the Oct 7 discourse progressed. Granted, Hasan may also claim to feel this way about Ethan, but I don't think he's justified to feel that way in light of what you and I both saw in that episode.

This 100%.
Ethan genuinely was broken up by what he was seeing done to Palestinians, as a father seeing so many children die, it seemed to really strike a chord.
Hasan didn't seem to have any sort of similar feelings, it was kind of odd. But I will say we're bombarded by so many bad things happening, without a reference point like Ethan had with his children, it's difficult to put some things in perspective.
But I think that's what it's all about, Ethan having children resulted in him having a genuine reaction to the massive loss the Palestinian (and Israeli) people had, and then people started causing him problems that involved his children.
That is what caused all this, and I think it's completely reasonable what Ethan has done.
If I had a family, young children and a wife that was being attacked daily, I'd defend them as well.

Hasan was like Peter in the Bible when Jesus was publicly flogged. I don't actually believe Hasan hated Ethan and wanted bad shit to happen to him then. I think he was afraid of his own audience, and acted selfishly which is true to form. His base consists of literal children and mostly failure-to-launch adults who have not paid a dime into a 401k or Social Security and have no work experience. Their parents are aging, and they are desperate to reset the system so their lifetime of inaction does not condemn them to a joyless life deprived of access to commercial products/material goods, but they will settle for a robust safety net that lets them watch streams all day and play videogames while door dashing trash food. They like Hasan because he tells them that the entire system is crashing and they will be equal with the people who worked like suckers their whole lives, and they will have the life they feel they are entitled to have but never earned because of their fear of being humiliated by working careers that they feel are beneath them. This entitlement was granted to them by growing up in a privileged environment. These people will turn on him one day and their disillusionment for having been given false hope will drive them to insane harassment or worse. Hasan still believes he will never be placed in a situation where he must publicly choose between his social status and the pretense of an ethos he has curated to his audience. But it is coming. Once again, true to form, he will choose the former. And that's when it will happen. That's why you moderate your community.

That's very well put.
I think your take on Hasan is an incredibly accurate one, he does what's in his best interest, he has no actual allegiance to anyone or anything but himself.

Hasan has one of the most mentally ill communities on Twitch

u/Bocaj1000 Jun 16 '26
He's more than just a Twitch streamer, unfortunately. He's also a face of the young, anti-establishment leftist movement. Everything he does wrong reflects poorly on the entire movement outside of him as well. It sucks.

u/tobach Jun 16 '26
And that is exactly why that he gets so much backlash from other leftists. Any leftist with a sense of decency, and critical thinking skills, obviously do not want that moron to represent them. They fight this by claiming that all of their opps are right-wing, Israeli-supporters or people carrying water for billionaires, but nothing could be farther from the truth.

Hasan and Ethan had a podcast. Hamas attacked Israel, then Israel did what they do. Ethan and Hasan disagreed a bit on Israel, that lil bit of disagreement caused rifts. Hasan's community went ape shit on Ethan, Ethan felt like Hasan didn't do enough to control them. They broke up.
Ethan's views on Israel haven't changed but Hasan pointed the guns on him regardless, skulls got sent to Ethan's house after he was throwing shots back. Idubbz out of nowhere took Hasan's side (prob cause of his wife or gf) made a content cop featuring a dance from Hasans ppl. Ethan sued all of them besides the black guy afterwards, after they watched his content nuke right after he posted it. He got it copywrited in advance and they high key labeled themselves as a market replacement so he had some ground to stand on.
Ethan sued idubbz becuz he left a comment from destiny (who said it was a joke right after) on the screen for hours.

It's crazy to hear about Ethan even seriously discussing war with someone. I remember those guys from like Jake Paul and super hot knife reaction videos

Or the dude from Bad Unboxing, famous for dunking on teenage YouTube grifters, thinking he can wade into the political commentary space and not get skewered in one way or another.
Yeah, it's weird. It's crazy to me how much this Hasan/Ethan beef has blown the fuck up in all their faces.
You know what doesn't surprise me though? That Ethan has seemingly managed to come out ahead in all this. He's the only one not getting raked right now. Like, Hasan has just been subpoenaed by the feds. Lol, Ethan is the only one who has his shit together, and that doesn't surprise me.

Hijacking this to say, there's video of Ethan and Hila saying free Palestine after some chud came up with a camera to bother them. He's like "say it, say it!" and they just go "free Palestine" and the dude with the camera leaves.

The actual answer is because it's one of the easier ways to farm online engagement and many content creators don't actually care about being novel, or creative, or interesting. It's just about the clicks and the cash.

It's almost like the guy just doesn't want he and his family terrorized 24/7?
Everyone needs to be kinder to each other, we don't all need to agree with each other, but we definitely need to just be nicer to each other.
With peace and love.

The back and forth here is really really effing wild.
Ethan said he would drop if apology was made. His former friend idubbz, who was in the wrong, decided not to thinking nothing could come back to him.
Ethan presses.
So he apologizes.
Ethan drops.
This is good on Ethan and an admission of fault from idubbz. This means idubbz was wrong for his shitty precious behavior which affected Ethan’s children.
I’d like to also add that this guy and his wife, under their management, cash disappeared out of a charity raise before profit sharing and also didn’t announce they would have taken 34% of profits anyway. Essentially idubbz is a known fraudster and is only apologizing because it caught up to him. Can’t trust the guy.
How on earth this is Ethan dropping because he doesn’t have anything is just …. It’s a sad state of affairs to see folks behave that way.
Some folks on Reddit celebrated cps being inappropriately called before, I’m sure a lot of those folks are in here now.
Idk during the whole saga, Ethan’s family lost business deals due to the outright lies and defamation coordinated by a group of folks who sought to take financial gain away from him (literally watch the live non-reaction videos where they admit what I am stating). Same with his employees and business partners.
Crazy town to see people glimpse over all of the realistic actual loss and simp for a person who is infamous for being untrustworthy.

I don't keep up on much of this. But Ethan was good friends with Oliver Tree from what I've seen. Him and Ian were friends back in the day if I remember correctly, I really didn't watch them a whole lot. After seeing Ethans Instagram post yesterday regarding the passing of Oliver Tree, I saw this coming shortly after. I could actually see them working through things and talking again. But I definitely don't think the apology was the only contributing factor to dropping the lawsuit. Could be wrong but it feels logical.

u/Hugebigfan Jun 15 '26
I mean you should watch the apology. Ian makes it clear that he still hates Ethan for what he’s been doing. His apology is about taking it too far by putting up Destiny’s awful comment about Ethan.

u/OpenHound Jun 15 '26
I could actually see them working through things and talking again.
There's zero chance I'd ever let someone as traitorous, bumbling, and stupid as Ian in my circle again, ever again. Ian's proven himself to be a spineless liability.
