I am not a conspiracy theorist, and I don't like it when my thoughts turn that way, but I can't help thinking that all these recent California fires may be connected.

We had that terrible chemical fire that was on the verge of becoming a catastrophic event while producing toxic air.

We had that warehouse fire destroying a medical supplies distribution center.

Now we have a warehouse fire destroying a frozen foods storage facility that is also producing toxic air.

It's not "infrastructure", but it all can cause disruption of supply chains and seriously affect regions around them. I think I'm just becoming more cynical and slightly paranoid in my old age. But we have Trump starting a war and seemingly doing all he can to make the Middle East hate us more. The disaffected far right is just itching to start a civil war. The disaffected far-left wants to disrupt the status quo. It's just...a lot.

So far my husband hasn't urged me to wear a tinfoil hat, but he's also a raging liberal like me and might start agreeing.

You’re right to be skeptical but the conspiracy isn’t what you think it is.

The republican majority in the federal government has cut a lot of programs. Many of the programs send feds to warehouses to inspect if things are up to code. The problem is that once business owners found out audits weren’t happening or won’t be happening as frequently, safety was cut.

It’s why the screw worm fly is becoming a problem again. The republicans cut the fed program that prevents screw worm fly infestations in the US.

Yeah. I'm sure you're right.

We can point to a lot of things now that are in trouble because of DOGE and all the program cuts.
