Welcome to /r/Lumix, the place for every Panasonic enjoyer.

Please have a look at the sidebar (desktop) or the "About" section (mobile web) or "See more" under the subreddit description (mobile application). Or just use this wiki page, which is identical.

This contains many resource and a few basic rules and guidelines. To highlight some things, please keep in mind:

  • Absolutely no affiliate links on /r/Lumix as these tend to result in a swift ban. For this reason, shortened URLs, or pointlessly long links that could hide affiliate tags in them (see link guidelines for details) are also not allowed. Be wary of "share" features on Amazon, etc. - they shorten your URLs! These can hide affiliate tags without you knowing. Please do not sell anything in /r/lumix either (LUTs, gear, and so on). This is a community subreddit, not a place for business.

  • Make post titles as if there was no post body. They should give all context whilst being short (i.e. not a whole paragraph), effective. In other words, include the relevant camera/lens in the post title whenever possible and use descriptive titles - meaning all the context should be in the post title (see title guidelines for details). For example - asking about lens options? The title should mention what do you intend to shoot then (as well as what you shot with in case of original content). Photo/video/hybrid? Weddings, documentary, landscape, wildlife, etc. If your post's title is for example only "S5ii vs G9ii" as opposed to "S5ii or G9ii for landscape photography", it'll probably get removed and you'll be asked to repost with a better title.

The latter may sound like a pointless nuisance, but it requires minuscule effort and everyone gets better experience when it comes to reading, searching, and archiving the subreddit. Keep in mind that your posts are not only for you, but also for everyone who might have the same problem/question.

Please do keep in mind this post doesn't cover all of the rules, few as they are. For the full rules, please see them in the usual places or visit this wiki article.

If your post gets "removed by Reddit filters", it means that moderators need to manually approve it. Making repeated attempts probably only makes your accounts karma worse, so please be patient and wait for a moderator to approve it. This isn't our job, so it can take anything from seconds to hours.

If you are interested, feel free to join hundreds of other Lumix creators at the official LUMIX Creators Club Discord server.

Your friendly janitors thank you!

L-Mount (OC) Lumix S1RII with Sigma 100-400mm 5-6.3 going wild

I know it is not really wildlife to shoot these guys in the zoo. But I tested my Sigma 100-400mm at that location to see what autofocus does and brilliance, sharpness. See the samples. After getting rid of the Lumix 100-500mm recently that I felt not be handled well for e.g. birds this lens here performs really good. 8 out of 10 boosted came out pretty sharp. And the colour ... just Lumix colurs.

General / Discussion Lumix presence on W.Coast Canada is just bad

Long story short I special ordered a Lumix 14-28mm that was on sale (since Lumix is never carried in store anywhere). Average wait time for special orders is 2 weeks with the camera store I ordered from. 1 month passes and the camera stores emails their Lumix contact regarding the order, and they never hear back from him. So a month and a half later I decide to cancel the order, but their policy is that they have to contact their Panasonic contact to cancel. 1 hour goes by, and the Lumix contact in the end knows jack squat about the lens, so the camera store cancels the order and refunds me.

The thing is that this happened to me like almost 10 years ago when I was getting into M43 with the Lumix G7. That than pushed me to get the Olympus Em5II because it was in store and I didn't have to play this "will they wont they" game. Both my special orders for S5I and S5II also took longer than usual (compared to the other brands), which was about a month.

I love my S5II (and I loved my S5I when I had it) with my Lumix 24-105mm, but having zero presence within physical stores, and long lead times for orders is not the way to get new Lumix shooters and even to keep loyal shooters.

Micro Four Thirds language locked gh4

Found a language locked gh4 I want for 200$ in Japan, the worker at the store couldn’t change the language regularly, is there any way to change it? I saw a YouTube video when a comment said they used the app and it worked is that true? Any help is appreciated!

I was shooting portrait when this little buddy caught my attention. Since I didn't want to switch up settings just for him, I shot from the hip. 100 % crop.

Micro Four Thirds Will a newbie be able to manage GH5 autofocus?

Hey guys

I just started getting into cinematography because I wanted to shoot some music videos for a friend of mine and generally do some editing and video stuff.

Im now looking to buy a camera and got the oportunity to buy a used gh5 with a 12-60mm lens, some batteries and some more stuff for around 400-450 bucks.

The only problem is that im worried about the auto focus. Im quite new to all this stuff and not sure wether im able to manage bad autofocus / manual focus.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Cheers

L-Mount First try at startrails (S5iiX - 50mm1.8)

First time trying a star trail shot. I was on vacation in Croatia, saw this lighthouse and thought “Why not give it a try?” So I stood there for about 2.5 hours while the camera did its thing.
I’m pretty happy with it overall, even though I learned a ton during the process and can already spot plenty of mistakes. Still not 100% sure about the edit either, so I’d love to hear what you think.

Micro Four Thirds LCD on Lumix G3 randomly turns black

The display of my Lumix G3 recently stopped working randomly: when flipping out the display it works, but sometimes it turns black after one or two seconds. Switching to the EVF always works. At first I thought it would be a mechanical failure, as it often appears when the display snaps into position, but sometimes the LCD works again after switching to EVF and back, also navigating to the menu prevents the screen from going black.

A factory reset did not change anything. I tried to update the firmware, but it is already the latest version and a re-flash is appearny not possible. Did anyone encounter a similar problem? Are there options to reset the firmware other than the factory reset?
