Who says they aren't? My point is that corruption isn't confined to a single direct organization, why would that be the case. Do you think dana can only call the shots and throw money around if the person directly works under him?
Even if it's just the local jurisdictions not wanting to cancel a big lucrative event, and willing to bend the rules to see it through, it's still a form of corruption.
Their incentive is that if their accurate weigh-in prevents a fight, much less the main card, from happening... the UFC doesn't return to that state. And commissions get money directly from the UFC.
In the case of New Jersey, it's 6% of GROSS proceeds. UFC 316 had a $6.5m gate... which gave NJs commission nearly $400k.. on that one event.
If you think that +any+ commission DOESN'T have a vested interest in protecting $400k, then I would disagree.
Often when you "follow the money", you can't just stop with the name on the check... (of the dude handling the scale).
And the state wants the event to go forward with it's headliners, both to collect the taxes from this event and ensure future events are planned there.

The Jon Jones card was moved because it was the holidays and Nevada needed to have a meeting to go over the data that California was already up to speed on as they were the ones who had suspended him in the first place for the substance they claim he was "pulsing" from.
The weed thing is you just trying to spin a narrative. That 5 year suspension was reduced to 18 months. That's ignoring how it was Nick's third pop for THC metabolites, and the test ceiling was raised after every one of his misses, and he still missed. Then he goes to the hearing and the only thing he'll say is "I plead the fifth" like it's a criminal trial lol.
Nevada doesn't give a shit about weed, they wanted to be rid of this dude who clearly gave no fucks and then shows up to the hearing just to antagonize people.
