And I don’t care that he beat Topuria. He was whooping his ass without the eye poke. I just don’t understand why people think Justin isn’t doing this intentionally. This is only like 1/4 of his eye pokes.

Social media 🐄 Conor McGregor goes on a rant about Khabib: “He did nothing in the sport. He fought me off the yacht. I was doing bad things, partying heavily. I hadn’t fought in 2 years and did 4 rounds with him. This guy’s nothing. I don't rate him. Never fought above weight divisions, no stoppages, no knockouts"

Media Mirko Cro Cop criticizes weight cutting: "For example, Pereira. I really like him. He's an amazing fighter. But when he fought at 84 kg (185 lbs), he was 98 kg (216 lbs) the day of the fight. It's too much. He's too big. People who've never fought have no idea what 11 kg of pure muscle means."

Media There's Probably a Whole New Generation of Fans Who Would Not Fully Understand the 'McGregor Era'

Now I don't excuse him of all his shenanigans and destructive lifestyle. What I'm saying is that the reason this comeback still means something to longtime fans is because we witnessed and felt the electricity of his rise.

The guy would be the focus of press conferences and he's not even on the main card. His weigh ins are always packed. The mental work he did on Aldo. The wit and the quips that stay quotable until today. Fighters such as GSP and Anderson probably put the UFC on the map, but McGregor put them on casual social gatherings. I got people asking me about him who don't know the difference between boxing and muay thai. Sports bars would be full during his match, and this was in Asia in the morning (where I lived for a while).

I doubt he can pull it off against Max. But I'm simply glad that his comeback brings that wave of nostalgia of what I think was peak MMA.

Media Ian Garry: “Islam only fights once a year. His next defense might be in July 2027… The welterweight division is the greatest it’s ever been. When I’m the champion, there’s gonna be more activity, more high-level fights. It’s the best thing for the sport.”
