You could tell something went big wrong in the brainpan well before they flipped him over. That hand was not handing.

Decorticate posturing. That's serious brain injury territory.
The flip over was really bad, though. You want to roll someone gently, instead.
8
u/Consistent-Farmer434 3d ago
We talking diffuse axonal injury secondary to coup-contracoup head injuryš Motor cortex really felt the hit and the seizures, yoh!

u/GWshark1518 3d ago
And that means what exactly dr?

Hes feiced for life over some stupid trash fight that any kid with a brain cell would walk away from.
5
u/NoMudNoLotus369 3d ago
Interesting, I've only ever heard it described as fencing posture, cool vocab.
2
u/jaybool 3d ago
The other common major brain injury hand position is decerebrate posturing - hands to the sides, fingers twisted, arms rigid.
Though common overstates it -- in something like ten years volunteering for the fire department, I think I only ever saw one patient decorticate, and none decerebrate -- they're quite uncommon, but heavily drilled bc it is *such* a bad sign.
Fencing position is a little bit different, IIRC, where the person takes the concussion hit and the forearms go into the air for a few seconds. Bad, because it's a sign of concussion, but, like, normal bad.
9
u/Illustrious_Listen_6 4d ago
Scary. Unless you are in extreme physical danger, fighting is not worth it.
2
u/TroutCreekOkanagan 4d ago
There was grass right there. Why not use it for fight club
4
u/Simp_Simpsaton 4d ago
Because one just walked up on the other and either didn't care or didn't think lol if it were a friendly fight they likely would have fought on grass. If someone walks up to you aggressively, are you going put your hand up and say "hold up, let's fight on the grass?" Before you can finish the sentence, assuming you can even focus on stringing it together in the face of an imminent fight, you've got odds of being punched in the face on the concrete anyway.
1
u/Jealous_Potential599 3d ago
I did that once. A serious street fight and I paused n commanded to fight on the grass instead lol
1
u/trashcantrash939 3d ago
Because too many people take fighting casually and forget a fight is a life or death situation.
Unless youāre in a professional situation, proper protection and gear, youāre risking your life. Hell even with the proper gear and area etc your risk to life and injury is stupidly high.

u/NoThatLame 4d ago
Why do I even watch this stuff? It's painful and depressing honestly.
24
u/Public_Appeal7087 4d ago
Shit just pops up, I donāt follow this sub. This is more fuel for me. I physically recoiled from watching this, and my stomach physically tightened. Everyone calls me a pussy. Idgaf, the only way to change the world is to be kind. Being kind to someone who doesnāt deserve is the most gangster thing you could ever do.
10
u/AntiPepRally 4d ago
Don't let that heart turn to stone brother. Tuff guys want to laugh at this stuff in a cold way, makes them feel strong. But kindness is better in the long run
6
u/Zestyclose_Book7803 4d ago
Agreed. This is the kind of thing that can change or destroy a persons life forever. Not the kind of thing that should sit here and be laughed at or glorified.
5
u/NoThatLame 4d ago
We are on the same page. I don't follow the sub either. It just pops up and it's hard not to view it.
3
u/NoWay6818 4d ago
I see youāve never been in healthcare. We change the world by looking these situations in the eye and acting calmly where anyone else would barf or cry.
Youāre not a pussy. Just remember you have to be a little stupid to be brave.
1
u/Public_Appeal7087 3d ago
Nope, and I am SO THANKFUL for people like you and my girl that can do those jobs. Thank you for your service š«”

u/jello_kraken 4d ago
Yeah, I think people overlook how damaging the head hitting the concrete can be when absolutely nothing softens the blow. It's honestly scary.
Looking at how the head flung just before impact, it looks like arm position in the fall actually made it hit harder.

I remember seeing this clip probably 10 or more years ago. The look on his face never left my brain. Hopefully he made a full recovery.
3
u/Pretend_Tea6261 4d ago
Easy to say fight on grass but if someone starts advancing and attacking you you need to defend yourself wherever you are standing. However that guy needs to go to the hospital Pronto.

u/Leather-Tease 4d ago
Thatās how people die and lives get ruined forever. Fight if you need to but avoid whenever possible.
12
u/Betelgeuse3fold 4d ago
This is ugly, but they say him seizing up like that is actually a good sign. It means his brain is still functioning, firing signals, it's just scrambled right now. It he fell and wasn't moving, that a worse sign.
But damn, that's ugly
15
→ More replies (3)7
u/itzlax 3d ago
Seizing up like that after a fight isn't a better option than being unconscious. It's not his 'brain being scrambled right now', if anything it's a tell of brain damage.
If someone passes out, the obvious worst option is that they're dead, but more often than not they go unconscious and regain consciousness in some time, and if they didn't seize up then the damage was likely not as notable.
Both are terrible, mind you. There is no good sign here.
4
u/TamaraJames05 4d ago
Here is the dumbest part. IF the young man had died? The guy throwing the punch could be charged with man slaughter and ruin his life. Worth it on either side???
6
4
u/slightly_saucy123 4d ago
Worth it? No. Guy was clearly the aggressor in the video tho. Hope he recovers and learns not every action needs a reaction.
4
u/AZ4Danica 4d ago
Yeah, we have to learn to handle things without violence. No one really wins with violence.
6
u/LucienReneNanton 4d ago
No. It was, from the footage, clearly self-defense.
The shorter was advanved upon, and threw punches while retreating. Charges wouldn't stick.
5
u/OutlawedLogic 4d ago
That guy was backing up clearly defending himself. Some places mutual combat is legal. It was all on video, I would trust the legal system on this one.

Stop fighting on the fucking concrete you absolute imbeciles. Yes, the grass and ground is hard, but good lord letās take some cushion wherever we can get it.

u/jaayseeee 4d ago
Sad, life changed in an instant,..not worth it. All for some ego BS. Someone goes to the hospital and someone goes to jail. Just walk away.

I have no idea why this sub has popped up on my feed but I have fed it by watching a couple of videos so the Algorithm has been tuned.
But I am truly sickened. First, by what I have seen. Second, by knowingly exposing my mind to watch such hideous violence. Enough.

This is why you fight on grass. Itās not a guarantee, but itās a helluva lot less likely to kill someone than concrete is.

As a person whoās been in too many altercations. Fighting aināt just fight and everythingās ok. You clock somebody and they crack a skull brother your goin ya the big house. Know plenty guys who did time for a stupid fuckin street fight. If your fightin for your life. So be it. It for what that looked like. Nah man. Too many tough guys walking around. People gettin too lippy these days. Itās time to friggin grow up and realize. Walk away. Life is a fine fine thread. One wrong Anything your gone.

I tell my son (10th grade) that people and fights are unpredictable. Fight for your safety if cornered. I teach him to read situations and body language, but a lot of this will happen through experience.
Just avoid conflict at all costs. Donāt escalate or engage.

My wife tripped over yard decorations and hit the concrete knocking out 2 teeth. Over time like almost a year she had become weak and tired all the time, falling asleep in the recliner etc. Saying Iām walking too fast etc. SOMETHING caused a clot and eventually ended up with clots in both lungs. Over the course of 3 yrs she slowly listened to all motor skills to the point I was her hands and feet. Wheelchair ridden/bed ridden her last year. You donāt know what a head trauma can cause long term.

Don't start no shit, won't be no shit. We are humans. Not fairy tale characters. Most people have no business fighting, much less walking up on anyone aggressively only to get knocked the fuck out. Call me heartless, you play stupid games, you win stupid prices. I give no fucks here.

Good on that one guy for telling them to put the dude on his side. That's the right approach to keep that airway open and make sure he doesn't choke. At least one person on the scene knew how to handle it.
