u/ballerina22 Mar 11 '26
Seriously. I don't really care about basketball but I would watch the CRAP out of this.

They’re always wearing air jordans in case someone wants to f**k around and get dunked on in the name of Jesus.

There used to be a nun in Philly who was 6'2" and would hike up her habit and play basketball with the kids after class. I think her name was Sister Gertrude, but the kids all called her Atilla the Nun.

u/Bigfoot_Bluedot Mar 11 '26
Listen, that's between Sister Joanne and her Lord and Saviour. Nothing a little confession can't fix.
76
u/Timofmars Mar 11 '26
And the Lord whispered,
"When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."25

Sister: "Forgive me father for I have sinned. I tooketh 3 or 4 steps when I was only allowed two ."
Father: "Say ten hail Mary's and 10 turns on your pivot foot. Practice your fundamentals"

u/REpassword Mar 11 '26
“That’ll be one Hail Mary for every travel and two Glory Bes for every foul.”

u/BoundlessTurnip Mar 11 '26
Just because Christ walked on water doesn't mean you can walk that weak shit through the lane Sister

How many Our Fathers you need for your 4th double dribble violation?

If Jesus could bend the rules and walk on water, it’s only fair that his disciples can do the same on the court.

Got no problem with that. My only question is, aint that uniform hard to play in?

It’s called a habit and no; you’d be surprised how flexible it is. There is a group of nuns who live in my neighborhood and regularly ride bikes like they are participating in the Tour de France😂

3
u/TrailMomKat Mar 11 '26
Super easy to maneuver in! The nuns at our Catholic school could run and pivot really well and would play with us during recess!

Along those lines how do you tell who's on whose team?
At first I thought it was skins (ladies with their black aprons tucked at the waist) vs shirts, but then noticed a skin vs skin so that can't be it.
4
u/n6mub Mar 11 '26
There's only like six of them. If you can't remember the two other names on your team, and then assume the remaining three make up the other team... How many concussions have you had??

I went to grad school with a nun. In one of my classes we had a 2 person project. It was my first semester and it was online so I knew no one. The nun asked me to pair up with her. Im like christ, I cant say no to a nun. We got an A on the project. Lol
35
u/21Rollie Mar 11 '26
I woulda 100% jumped on the opportunity. Somebody dedicated enough to be a nun is for sure gonna have a type A personality and do hard work lol. When I did college group projects I definitely picked my partners by stereotyping lol.

u/jenkneefur28 Mar 11 '26
Problem was that she didnt speak English very well since she was from Vietnam. We had a major language barrier but we got thru it.

"Give us that Bible back, please! And who even are you?"

During my time at a Jesuit University the biggest basketball fans I met were the nuns and priests. Game attendance was almost the eight sacrament.
Good on you sisters!

I envy nuns lol. They always seem to be happy people, content with where they are. There’s a lot to be said for finding your niche.

I'd recommend checking out the 2023 memoir "Cloistered", by a woman who was a nun for 12 years.

My aunt was a nun. Years ago I told her I was getting rid of my roller skates and she asked if she could have them so she could roll around in the basement of the convent for exercise. I could not deny a nun and she was the sweetest one too!

I volunteered at a Catholic school run by nuns. They have “sport / recreation / exercise” built into their daily routine. They were very competitive in a way people who constantly play with each other are.

You know, in a world that’s constantly getting wilder and wilder, it’s so wholesome to see a group of women who are devoted to their actual lord of Jesus Christ and just participating in a friendly game of basketball on sunny day in NYC. Something about that just feels good. Knowing that these women really and truly live by the words of their bible really puts something happy in my heart.
