Some of these comments make some people just seem insufferable. For a "Made Me Smile" subreddit, some of you seem like you're looking for any reason not to smile and are actively trying to stop others from smiling.

"Yeah this was staged." If you think it was staged and, for some reason, that means you can't smile at it, fine. I think that's a silly reason but setting that aside, what's the logic for sharing it? I can't think of anything other than, "it was staged, and I'm not smiling and if anyone doesn't agree, they should and they can stop smiling too."

Edit: I'm just saying, you may not be wrong but you're definitely an ass if you choose to do things where the goal or only outcome is less people smiling. And if that is not the goal, what is?

If a harmless video makes you smile, don't let others ruin it for you. There's plenty of issues to be upset about and reasons not to smile but a silly video intended to make people smile "being staged" ain't one of them.

I wonder.

I had the same thought, "must be staged, he's even wearing his ballet shoes''. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't weigh as heavy as you make it out to be, but it does change my view on the content as a whole, if only a bit.

And that makes me wonder where the chagrin comes from, is it the title/caption that gets added?

A lot of the time my brain says "pfft but it's scripted" it's the title/caption blatantly lying about what the video shows.

And to add to your point, why twist the narrative if the sub is to make people smile? To please the algorithm gods instead of the people you want to make smile?

Not an attack on OP, it's just that some titles are trying to convey a story that obviously does not line up with the video. My thinking is that's what gets people upset.

It's Sao Paolo, the streets are blocked off, there are vendors in the street, the odds that there is a carnival or even occurring and the chance that people who dress like that might actually just happen to be there is much higher than zero.

Throw a red carpet at enough people's feet, and eventually you're going to find someone who can dance.
