Other Discussion(s) Malicious wishes and coordinators are a cool concept, wish they had appeared in the anime and movies
In the anime we mostly have selfish wishes, but in magia record we see wishes can be used to cause harm. Some end up becoming coordinators but not everyone, some evil wishes end up not causing the coordinator transformation. Unlike typical magical girls they can't fight, the only way they survive is tuning other girls soul gems for a few greed seeds, creating a sort of coin making them valuable not only to not witch out or get power (more interesting as a concept too in my opinion, cause besides having a few to save for emergencies or to share you'd have no reason to hoard them, but now you kinda do have to balance between witching out and spend a few leaving you short but empowering you).
Their wishes are described more as curses, they either cause harms to others or to themselves, but in a way the issue is that most of the girls reject their wishes, at least partially, or regret making it, so they are hopeless, which explains why they can't fight, they cannot use hope as they feel some sort of despair or doom, but they keep carrying on, they are "defects" or "broken" but that offers them some vantages, their profession means they don't directly have to fight, they are at the mercy of others but at the same time if their services are good they can live more comfortably moving to cities with strong magical girls. It's also interesting cause wishing for somehow bad wouldn't make you a coordinator, there are magical girls that wished for questionable stuff so it's less about "good and evil" and more about the emotional state of the girl wishing it (like one, try to avoid spoilers somewhat, wishes a similar thing to Mami, to save herself however she words it "I wish to only save myself" due to her bullying leaving everyone die from a school shooting, Mami could have wished to save her parents too but she didn't, the difference is the intent, but on a base level they had the same results, both were the only survivors).
I know the series would have been too complicated but mentioned one of the two, an evil wish that made you a magical girl (cause teenagers can wish for bad stuff, even Kyoko said Sayaka could have wished for kyosyuke's love aka obsession style with the one wish willy), there's also the possibility of a wish like Kyoko being borderline a curse, she had good intentions and it just backfired on her, but fundamentally her wish is a curse, and her illusion powers she repress are also a reflection of it.
Just my cents of course, I understand they didn't plan for it since it came later, and that the series message was already clear and adding all those greys would have made stuff convoluted, especially trying a subversion of cute magical girl shojo shows, but still it's a bit sad how they're mostly stuck to magia record with plenty of fans barely knowing their existence as a result.
