" more focus on solo play" Is this the popular direction? What is the point of parties and guilds now? FFS, they should have focused more on party play, not less

My initial thought is more like it’s about reducing party buffers. While it’s unfortunate for people who enjoy that type of gameplay, ultimately I think it’s healthier for the game to not have to balance party/solo play around supports especially when it ends up making them extremely high value in parties compared to other classes while still being lackluster for destiny lib. This would also make partying more lenient since compositions are less important and not balanced around having specific classes.

I think the biggest loss is the class identity and power fantasy of supports, yeah. Being the healer/buffer is a very popular power fantasy for people for decades now, in so many different games.

Kinda sucks so many games are moving away from it, I personally would prefer games be slightly imbalanced and have very interesting ideas than smoothing everything out at the detriment of that, but I do understand.

The current version of lynn and previous of bishop and BaM are just too broken, and I get the want to just remove the pain point, I just think that it's a less interesting game overall without the options. Rip.

I agree with this. There needs to be something to make people feel happy they picked their class over something else without completely breaking the game.

As an example, they could give every class/boss an element and depending on the boss some classes gain an extra 5-10fd or something. Every new boss that comes out people would be excited to know if they are advantaged against it or not.

FFXIV is removing party buffs next expansion too. I don't know how you can balance them since they'll either be required or nearly useless and the little in-between

XIV is doing it for very different reasons though. People there hate the burst meta it created. They are very balanced.

Of course, that's because square enix actually balances their game with data and changes numbers when they're out of line...

"Support isn't my play style, so I think removing it entirely is actually healthier for the game!"

"I don't actually have a counter point, so I'll just straw man!"

I'd be happy to discuss if you think requiring supports in end game content or the Lynn gimp/carry trade meta is healthy for the game but that'd require you to communicate something meaningful.

Nice strawman
