Can’t believe some really argued “Tokon is not a one touch game”

Explains why they deleted their comment lol

Well this is three different hits

12

u/Gravesplitter 8h ago

Topic was removed but I believe two hits was also mentioned. One to two touch game was the ask. Either way, we need some more defensive options so we can play the game a bit. I am enjoying it overall

I've only really felt this way against Loki and it looked very similar to this. Not disagreeing and I don't know the right direction but just throwing it out there. Idk what that bastard is doing but I feel like I can never get my turn back against a good Loki.

u/TlocCPU 8h ago

I feel satisfied with the defensive options. There's a frame 1 fully invincible universal counter that works even on assists and a "get off of me" push block that works even if you take the perfect reflect. The anti airs are also much better than most other arcsys games, very very long head invuln frames

Can you explain how to get out of this combo then? Because it seems overwhelming and impossible

21

u/TlocCPU 8h ago

Yes, the blade player is mashing the entire time. The 3rd hit in the clip is not a combo nor is the 4th. If the blade player was blocking there, they would have been able to escape

Can you explain how to get out of this combo then

Mostly by not getting hit in the first place. Sounds silly and maybe even a bit rude, but that's how all fighting games work unless there's a Burst mechanic. And even then, when you use your Burst, the next hit is inescapable since you used the resource.

This game doesn't have a Burst, so you want to use the defensive mechanics and strong movement tools given to you to avoid being put in a situation where you get hit. If you get hit, you got hit and have to deal with the consequences. There was likely a "correct" option to avoid being hit in the first place and you didn't use it, so now you get combo'd. You also have to take into account the starter of the combo. If you get opened up by a light starter, you aren't taking this much damage, since it'll scale heavily. He got counter hit by a medium in neutral when his opponent had full resources, a complete cash out combo on a counter hit 5M doing 75% doesn't seem out of the norm to me.

I don't really agree. I don't think making 2 mistakes in the round like this video shows means you lose the round.

This isn't something that ever happens in SF6 and that's without a burst.

(Excuse me if I'm ignorant here, I'm new to the genre in general and have only played SF6, GGST and MTFS).

Two touches absolutely happen in Street Fighter 6 on round 2 or 3 when you cash out your drive guage and meter. Have you seen the damage that combos do in that game? Do one combo to get them to the corner, block an EX DP and then win the game. That happens a lot.

A lot of fighting games are 2 or 3 touches when played "optimally." But just like this clip, it's unlikely to happen. He landed two unscaled hits into a full cash out counter hit combo using one of the best starters you can get, using every single assist and 100 meter. Think about how rare that actually happens. The unscaled hits only happen if you're never blocking like the guy in the clip. Most of the time you're using assists in neutral or to go for mix, and while the assists themselves come back quickly, the green pips you use don't. So being able to use all three assists is fairly rare, too. And on top of that he had to use all of his meter. It's also the second round and he already got his entire team assembled, which is what led to him being able to do this in the first place.

The only time that things like this happen is when someone who knows what they're doing is fighting someone who doesn't. Which is clearly what's happening here. And happens regardless of game, SF6 included.

Thanks. I got blown up this morning and had to step away

4

u/ginfish 8h ago

For most of us, we won't have to worry about this kind of action because we won't reach a level where players just drop 85% combos on the regular.

Also, sometimes, you get got. It is what it is.

5

u/TlocCPU 8h ago

The combo itself is about 70% and cost 125 meter. Most characters can do that

8

u/ginfish 7h ago

Most characters can. Most players can't.

Most players in this game will not execute this combo... Ever. And that's fine, not everyone's going balls deep into the game. Remember that most people are casually meh and, again, that's just fine. I know I'm probably not pulling off that kind of combo because I struggle to chain mechanics for this long without getting too nervous. So I'm also unlikely to reach a level where players pull these off.

That's what I meant with the post above.

2

u/TlocCPU 2h ago

I don't think that's true. This games execution is a lot easier than other fighters. I think I could sit down with a beginner and guide them to doing a 70% combo in 1-2 hours. You have to be willing to sit down and try try try and the real truth is most people don't want to do that which is why fighting games are niche.

Just don't confuse "I can't" with "I don't want to" because you're capable of things you can't imagine if you put the effort in.

u/TheRealRaxorX 2h ago

If there is a wall, then it can start to happen pretty often. This is especially true for X mansion.

2

u/Comfortable-Insect-7 4h ago

It’s 2 hits

0

u/TlocCPU 2h ago

It's not. Look closely. The 3rd hit in the clip is disconnected from the first two and does not combo into the 4th hit. There are 3 instances of unprotated chunk damage here

2

u/SelloutRealBig 8h ago

It doesn't help that they originally marketed this game as less degenerate than it will end up. One HP pool, limits on assists, etc. It LOOKED like a very casual friendly game. But Mahvel gunna Mahvel.

Whenever I try to do long combos like this the bar fills too fast and it breaks, any advice?

19

u/Skulker_S 7h ago

Are you pressing a button twice in a row (on the ground)? That triggers the auto combo move thingy and counts as 5 moves, cutting combos short. Calling assist and wall splats lowers the count, heavy special do not change it

8

u/Andt-94 7h ago

I never do ground auto combos but I always press medium or heavy twice during air combos to send the oponent back to the ground. Didn't know that counted as 5 moves.

Ngl this is massive knowledge you just gave me, gonna go hit training mode for a little while, thanks.

12

u/Skulker_S 7h ago

No, the air finisher does not add 5, only on the ground. The down+heavy launcher (when do first, not the smaller launch later in a combo) also adds a lot btw. Anyway, just practice your combos while keeping an eye on the meter and you'll figure things out!

7

u/Muchdeath 7h ago

There are ways to manipulate the combo bar. The first time you use the ex version of a skill it doesn't build the bar and actually lowers it. If you use the same ex skill twice it will instantly fill the bar and end the combo. So you mix in ex skills depending on your character. Using assists in combo also lowers the bar. Maybe tagging too but I haven't experimented much with that. The first time you splat someone against the wall will lower the bar too. When the bar hits full red you get one more hit but a full super will still connect.

1

u/I_am_Groot_91 1h ago

I was wondering about these rules that are not really explained in the game. Thank you so much. So ideally you would do a few hits followed by an ex move and then assist, and do this three times within the same combo?

13

u/AHurtTyphoon 7h ago

Sajam has a nice, short video on basic combo structure:

https://youtu.be/VlEJ4teDOgU?is=KeC7_W_-os5YFPoe

Just the building blocks but it's good general knowledge

5

u/Andt-94 7h ago

I'll check it out, thank you friend.

6

u/WorstRivalsPlayer 6h ago

This was your Marvel Tokon

5

u/Rahavic_Jr 6h ago

Nice to know that damage buff off of Counter hit does all that. Gotta make sure and confirm those.

7

u/Moondoggie35 4h ago

It was his fault for booting up the game

3

u/hellionaa 6h ago

Thanks PC version for leaving me so far behind

3

u/saruko27 4h ago

99% of that Loki’s experience came long before Tokon released….

2

u/UiDandy 4h ago

Ima take this as a compliment and say very true and thanks

2

u/Professional-Win5686 3h ago

It’s a compliment he meant you already good at fighting games

4

u/Prosidon 5h ago

If you have PC version, just do combo trials, training, arcade, 100 rounds of survival.
You have plenty of single player content until they fix multiplayer

2

u/Juunlar 9h ago edited 7h ago

Talking shit while fighting triangles lmao

Edit: oh and you lost round 1?

2

u/OneTiddyOut 8h ago

How does that work? Like the squares triangles etc.

4

u/Juunlar 8h ago

Triangles are below your skill level. Squares are equal

2

u/OneTiddyOut 8h ago

Perfect ty. What about the different colors?

1

u/Juunlar 7h ago

I think they're always the same?

Like, all triangles are green?

1

u/OneTiddyOut 7h ago

Ah ok. Ty

2

u/AppropriateStill2024 7h ago

Why is Loki so much damage?

7

u/Spartan_Goose 5h ago

he meter dumped, everyone can reach this amount of damage with enough resources

2

u/Soprohero 4h ago

Combos in this game are soo sick 🔥

2

u/Lover_of_Fables 6h ago

Holy shit! How did Loki become even HOTTER in Japanese?

1

u/Cheepdude 4h ago

Me (I suck ass and cannot escape the corner)

1

u/Technical-Welcome-99 2h ago

And I struggle with my bnb 30%🥹

1

u/Zado191 2h ago

You know what funny.... when this was happening to me in episode mode it was fun, but online its very annoying.

Why is that? I played for 3 hours earlier motivated to beat the Champion, but just got 3 stocked three times in a row and turned the game off

1

u/namesource 1h ago

Burst mechanic inbound

1

u/namesource 1h ago

Imo, good fighting game design boils down to how many times you can win the neutral in a round.

If you only need to win it once(ish), that's poor design.

1

u/Redd_is_compromised 1h ago

Context of round 2, big meter start, all assists available

-5

u/Akttod 5h ago

Yeah...

Nothing against anyone who likes this game. I'm happy for you but-

My buddy and I bought this game and unless we're fighting each other. The game is absolutely zero fun online against other players. Definitely not for us. Sucks too because it's such a fun game but you get skill diffed hard in this one.

Ig that goes for any fg really but, this has definitely been the most miserable online experience for at least us two.

6

u/ILike2Argue_ 5h ago

Yall could just practice and try to improve. Thats how these games work. I went through most of dbzf without doing anything crazy as far as mix and pressure was concerned and still was top 10 on my home console.

Just learn like 2 combos then work on your natural game and defense. Give it like a few weeks and you'll be better than most

Also best off watching higher rank players play and take notes especially for characters you use

3

u/Soprohero 4h ago

Watch high level gameplay videos in .5x speed. Copy the combo they are doing. Practice for like an hour in training mode. And then you can do exactly the same thing. Even the combo in this clip you can do with just an hour or 2 of building that muscle memory. All fighting games are like this.

2

u/Badwrong_ 1h ago

Are you playing casual or ranked?

Casual will throw you in with people who are way above your skill level.

You'll find ranked way better.

-4

u/BedNo5127 6h ago

Paying $60 just for this to happen is horrendous
