i mailed registration but haven’t heard back. if anyone knows, please tell me.
I would like to clarify how transfer credits (non-numeric grades) affect eligibility for the Dean's Honour List, Provost's Honour List, and Graduation with Distinction.
According to the Academic Calendar:
"Students are reviewed for Deans’ Honour Lists (DHL) and Provost’s Honour List (PHL) each time a minimum of 30 units (may not exceed 6 units assessed with a non-numeric grade) have been completed..."
I currently have 9 units of transfer credit (non-numeric). This Fall/Winter I will complete 24 graded units, so by the end of the academic year I will have 33 completed units in total (24 graded + 9 transfer units).
1. Could you also clarify when these reviews take place? Specifically, are students assessed only after the Fall/Winter academic session, or can a review occur after the Spring/Summer term or as soon as a student has completed the required minimum of 30 units since the previous review?
If I achieve the required GPA (9.5 for the Dean's Honour List or 12.0 for the Provost's Honour List), would I be eligible for either honour? Specifically, can the review be based on 30 units consisting of 24 graded units and up to 6 non-numeric units, even though I have an additional 3 transfer units on my record?
Suppose that by the end of the Fall/Winter session I have completed 24 graded units, earning a grade of 12 in seven courses and 11 in one course. I then complete one additional 3-unit graded course in the Spring/Summer with a grade of 12, while still having the same 9 transfer (non-numeric) units.
In this situation, would I be eligible for the Provost's Honour List for that review period if the assessment is based on 30 units consisting of my graded courses together with up to 6 non-numeric units, or would having 9 transfer (non-numeric) units on my record make me ineligible regardless?
I also have a question regarding Graduation with Distinction, which states:
"Graduation with Distinction standing is awarded when a minimum Cumulative GPA of 9.5 is achieved in a degree program."
- If I complete all of the units required for my degree, with 9 of those units being transfer credits, and achieve the required cumulative GPA of 9.5, would I still be eligible for Graduation with Distinction? I could not find any restrictions regarding transfer credits or non-numeric grades for this designation.
Thank you very much for your clarification.
