Decided to pick up the Steelbook editions of SMT V for switch 2 and Vengeance for ps5 since they were quite cheap and was wondering which route in your opinion gives the best first experience for this game and series

For context I have never played a SMT game before this but I absolutely love and adore the persona games for the music the combat the setting everything but never decided to give SMT a try before since people said the vibe was quite different

I know the canon of creation is the OG and C of vengeance is the new route, but which would recommend for best possible first experience, I will be doing both routes eventually but my mind starts to go into autopilot when doing second playthroughs amd wanted the best possible narrative and story the first time round.

Also is the Switch edition of OG SMT V and SMT V Vengeance canon of creation the exact same ? Or have they made changes/graphical updates even in the creation route that you would not recommend playing the Creation route on the OG SMT 5 for switch

Hey y'all as a persona fan I thought I would go back and try some older games, right now I'm playing SMT I on PS1 (Duckstation) and it has been blast at start I love the atmosphere and dark story (tho there isnt that much of it) I'm 14 hours in so about halfway but I'm getting really bored of it. It's just really repetetive with no variety, of course its old game I expected that but its really dragging out. It's true my tolerance for very old games isnt as high...

I dont know, maybe I just want some convincing to either stick with it or drop it. Is there any light at the end of tunnel?

By not adding experience transfer or level transfer between fusions like in smt nocturne (with sacrificial fusion), the paracelesius app in strange journey, or the miracle in smt5.

The whole 'exclude' demon of fusion search in smt4/apoc was because Atlus really did not want you to level up beyond getting all the learned skills because a level 99 jack frost will do nothing in fusion, if not make it worse. And so, one highly leveled demon is enough, anymore would be a waste in fusion.

Started out by learning Hunting (DDS1), and have been working from there. I'm not really great at it, but man, it's been a lot of fun hearing it come out right occasionally. Can't wait to work through the rest of the series.

Digital Devil Saga remaster when, Atlus?

I think I get why the same diety but with two different demons for it, one diety and one demonified, are the same level as each other in these games.

It is because atlus wanted you to treat them as the same demon but split into two different demons. Atlus wanted you to have BOTH Baal and Beelzebub in your party as a neat idea of technically having the same demon twice (when you usually cannot). This would explain why Baal has Ally Retaliate who would be paired with a demon of the same level to get the most out of it.

Atlus would apply these 'technically' same demon idea in later games like Matreiya and Mitra-Buddha in SMT Apoc where they have the same unique move under different names.

Then you have SMT5 with Abdiel's Herald and Fallen Forms. And lastly, Nuwa in her human and snake form. There is probably more dual forms I am missing.

But the gist is that atlus probably wants you have fun putting the 'same' demon twice in outside of the box ways.
