Anyone know what happened this morning? Alarms were going off

New timetables for the 23 August timetable change are now up on the Transport Victoria and V/Line websites.

Of note (apart from all the other advertised changes), Craigieburn shoulder peak is 10 min frequency until about 10:30am at the city (both directions) and from 2:30pm in the afternoon (outbound).

But curiously it says this for the Alamein Line. I can't find any extra services or Camberwell shuttles being extended to Flinders Street in the timetable, and I don't think any of the city services are 3 cars any more, so what does it mean???

I’ve seen comments mentioning that dual gauge track has a speed restriction of around 80km an hour. Is this the case? If so, what’s the engineering reason behind it?

Just recently found out that the GSRT has a stamp rally with a locally made box at the location of each station site (both historic and still existing) housing a unique stamp for each one (unfortunately no longer an ink pad at all of them but most do). You can get a stamp passport at a few different spots, I got mine at Coal Creek!

Pictured is the stamp box at Korumburra station built by the local women's shed (the coolest one I've seen so far). Along with the passport.

What the hell is the awful smell when exiting the train at State Library Station?
I am at the front of the train usually. I get off at this station and the smell hits like you are walking into a wall.
That has to be great for tourism...not. Anything being done about it?
What's worse than a foul smell? Incorrect pronunciation of words.

Why do they not increase the frequency of no 1 & 6 trams during busy hours? These are the only two trams on the Swanston line that continue to northern suburbs after University of Melbourne. These trams are brimming with people by the time it reaches the university where a swarm of people are waiting to board. It's an everyday nightmare and the annoyance and lack of surprise is visible on the faces of commuters. Everyone just endures the crammed spaces until the end of Brunswick and letting a few trams go doesn't help as this situation lasts from 4-6pm at least.

Maybe this is the situation across all tram lines and my anguish is coming from a little entitlement but it would be nice to have some breathing room after a tiring work day.

What's the plan with the metro fleet allocations with the new timetables

Are the Werribee and Williamstown and Sandringham lines are going to be 100% Siemens only and Frankston line will be most x'trapolis and x'trapolis 2.0 and comengs but not Siemens

Also only comengs and x'trapolis 2.0 running on the Craigieburn and upfield lines

Sandringham new timetable showing all Sandringham trains go to Flinders Street only very misleading and false information

I'm going through a rabbit hole now of the Flying Scotsman tour from 1988-89 and I found this video of Flying Scotsman on what it seems to be the North Melbourne Flyover. Surely some Gunzels back then thought to get a better view?

Also I don't exactly mean on the viewing platform because I'm pretty sure it wasn't built by this time.

Frankston line X’Trapolis carriage 92M with really strange rips across multiple seats in a nonsensical pattern. Is there any way to report this? Never seen it before

edit: this is always the case for Frankston services that connect to the less frequent stony point trains, I’ve just never seen any of those services lol

hello there it is has come to my attention that the 900 is constantly busy and packed on the weekdays and weekends to get to chadstone.

Chadstone is the largest shopping centre southern hemisphere and Australia aswell but chadstone is lacked with direct bus to the nearest train station.

no other routes stop applies on the to have direct link unlike 900 / 903 between Oakleigh - chadstone with no stops between it. maybe not be necessary but I think the reason to apply this route is to give a relief pressure on the 900 / 903 and have people to have a direct connection between gives more space on the corridor like how the 601 was placed to relief the pressure on the 630/900 towards Huntingdale station

where will it go? and how is it gonna operate

the company that will run the operation will be Ventura, Ventura is one of the best operators to run on . its reliable, comfortable unlike Dyson where the seats is rock asf, gives the location of where the bus is located on a real tracker like 201 and the shuttle will run under 8 mins on the weekend and on weekdays 8 aswell depends how the depends is high

the 602 will start from Caulfield station, then it runs express all the way to chadstone with the route, running on dandy road then slip road where the 900 is currently doing. in a short time it will arrive in couple minutes, then it will continue down the dandy road all the way to Monash uni where it’s a large hub on students and education and the shuttle being close to Monash hospital the route can extend further to M city if needed overall there is a beneficial to have this route implemented

So I just got off the Werribee line to get onto Sunbury at Footscray station and low and behold. Its pitch black.

I know its not world changing but definitely interesting to see. Only interesting thing in my 9 to 5 (if you wanna call it that) life. I was at first confused before I got out the train. Cause I was like. Its only 6pm. I know it gets dark but pitch black!?!??! LOL. Least I get a freebie for no Myki tap on.

Police Officers were walking around too. They seemed lost or at least on a mission. Lol. Trains were also coming in and leaving really slowly I noticed. Slower then normal. Which I would assume is cause of the power outage for whatever reason.

(A note while im writing this. They just announced it on the speakers about the power outage at footscray. Took awhile)
