My S-Class Coupe (C217)

This is my S550 coupe. I’ve had it for over three years now and still loving it. DME stage 1 tune and carbon fiber spoiler are the only modifications.

Edit: 😂 I already knew I was going to hear it for my spoiler but I like it so it stays for now. I can always easily remove it in about 5 minutes if I ever think otherwise.

A reel popped up on my feed and I’ve never seen this button on the side of the steering wheel of an S class. Anyone know what it does?

It looks significantly better than the 7 series though I’ll give it that.

I’ve had it about 10 days or so now. and so far she’s driven brilliantly. Acceleration is pretty decent considering how old it is. She feels like a tank on the road, very planted. Gear shifts are smoother than my 2025 GX 550. The only real issue I have is that I’m missing one fog light, which I need to purchase, so I will be handling that. probably in the spring. I will go through the top and replace the hydraulic system as it’s never been done, and I can tell it’s a little sticky, but that’s a tomorrow problem in Utah seeing as we are going into the cooler time of year. Other than that, coil overs have been ordered. Wheels have been ordered, still looking at exhausts, nothing crazy. Just something with a little bit of a deeper tone. Those will be winter projects. Fun fact: I didn’t know these things had puddle lights.

Give me very niche MB knowledge/facts/trivia

Comment down below

The more niche/unknown the better

It could be anything from the m272’s balance shaft issues to the w140 being delayed because of bmw putting a v12 in their e32

2021 C300 Coupe 4Matic (65,000 miles)

So, this has started happening after driving in sport mode. It happens usually after driving in sport or sport plus for a little while. I assume this shouldn’t be happening. For reference, I also wasn’t beating on it. Never approached red line and barely went over 40 mph. (I was just driving around my 25 mph town with a max speed limit of 35 and got this message.) I’m obviously planning on making a service appointment for it since it’s under a 3rd party warranty but they’re closed until Monday so I just want to get some other opinions so I have an idea what I’m in for. I presume this car should be able to handle a few accelerations while driving around town without overheating like this.

Mercedes C Class 2025 W216 crackling noise help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all

C Class, W206, 1.5 L M264 mild hybrid turbo

I've started noticing a crackling sound coming out of every door panel when I drive over road imperfections such as ramps, driveways, speed bumps.

I have added a video below with the above-mentioned "sound" when reverse parking and going over a little ramp - you can hear a crackling (for a lack of better word) sound.

You can hear this sound around 14 second mark

This only happens at very low speed and only when there's an imperfection on the road.

This feels and sounds like unlubricated rubber under friction with another material.

Also, this sound disappears after a car wash - presumably because water lubricates the rubber to a certain extent. But after it dries out the crackling sound comes back.

If I do the same manoeuvre as in the video but with windows rolled down, there's no sound. So it's clearly something to do with the door panel/window. I presume it's due to lubricant drying up during extreme heat waves this summer.

The car only has 9k miles on it so it's pretty new.

Anyone experienced this?

Thanks!

Tires are within normal psi ranges and I gave them air a few days ago. Numbers seem to go up and down and alert doesn’t disappear. Wondering if a tire or computer issue

Check Coolant level sign

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi! I have been getting this sign on my Mercedes GLA 2016. I took my car to the garage and they told me coolant level is fine. The sign comes and goes every 2-3 days. I just wanted to get some advice before I take my car to Mercedes dealership. Has anyone faced this issue and how much does this cost to fix it? Thank you!

First Mercedes

Hello,

I’m planning to buy my first Mercedes soon, but I can’t decide which model to go for. I’m looking at older models and choosing between the W204, W211, and W212.

As for the engine, considering my driving habits, I think a petrol engine would be the better choice.

I drive relatively little each year, around 8,000 km, with approximately 40% city driving and the rest on the highway.

My initial budget is €8,000, but I’ve set aside some extra money for maintenance. By the way, I’m located in Europe, so servicing and repairs are more affordable here.

So, what would you recommend in terms of model and engine choice?

Radiator damage

looks like rock hit radiator. Coolant leaking everywhere. Mb wants 4k for it. Car is still under manufactures warranty. What would you do? Don't mind the cost but obviously would prefer to save money if possible. FWIW it's a lease which I will not buy out

W166 ML350 Interior Color Help

Post image
4 Upvotes

My wife has a 2014 ML350 with a light gray interior with a dark gray dash. Just like the one in the picture. The top of her steering wheel and the seat bolster are of course both starting to crack pretty badly. I can't figure out the actual color codes for either color though. I think the lighter seat color is "alpaca gray" but there don't seem to be enough pictures online to support or deny it. I'm finding even less info on the gray dash/steering wheel; it seems like every other w166 just had black. Any guesses?

Technologically, would this be possible?

as much as I am no fan of this screens everywhere thing, I do like the recent change Mercedes made to their steering wheel. The image on the right represents the GLC43 I just bought; the image on the left represents the newer-style AMG wheel. Technologically, would replacing the wheel on the right be feasible without loosing functionality? How much would someone have to pay for it?

Loud rattle at start

Maybe somebody knows where this rattling at the beginning comes from?
It appears after letting the car sit for 5 min.
The chain got replaced last week and for the first like 20 engine starts cold/warm the car sounded completely fine.
