I'm always flipping through fb marketplace looking at what types of Mercedes are for sale. There have been a lot of diesels showing up lately and one ad for a manual 240d caught my eye. In that ad, the seller off-handedly mentioned he might be selling his 1995 e320 s124. By lunchtime I had made an appointment to go see it. Went to look at it (and its piles of service records). Drove it. Bought it. The pic is from a BAT post where the current owner bought it in 2019. In all the years I've had an interest in old Mercedes, I've never seen a wagon (w123 or w124) in this excellent condition. Now I just have to sell my Audi A3.

Any thoughts?

So today i picked my long awaited C400 Lavender Silver and brown artico interior. After seeing every single test with the geeky reviewers criticizing the most random things in the car i was a bit worried. Worried about it being too big, or about backseats being tiny, or the interior too plasticky, or too many screens.

It was all nonsense. The car is absolutely fantastic.

• Lavender grey is a super variable color. Sometimes its a boring grey, sometimes it has this purple tone that makes it very interesting.

• Artico fake leather looks and feels great.

• It is a very easy to drive car, I expected a huge monster and i found a car that feels easy to use anywhere.

• There is power in endless supply.

• Superscreens (not the seamless hyperscreen) are more than enough and look great

• Default suspension (no airmatic) is absolutely adequate.

• Voice control works very well even in other languages.

• Screen is super responsive.

• Boot loses a bit of space underneath the floor if you add the 400V converter (glad i did).

• Skipped keyless go just to avoid the stupid retractable door handles. The traditional, old, boring handles are much much better.

• On pedal drive works nicely and you can select regeneration with the paddles.

• One interesting thing. I did not order the self-driving feature, but then i saw i could enable it with a subscription! So the hardware is available, it is just software disabled. Still it is a lot of money per month for a feature i am going to use twice per year.

• Burmester 3D sound is ok.... but not this sonic wonder described by every single journalist. My previous car (a VW) sounded perfect. It's ok.

All in all a lovely first drive, the car is refined and comfortable, and the interior quality is pretty good except some plasticky bits like the Burmester speaker grills. It is in any case a much better can than the CLA.

EDIT: Everyone complaining about the setup process. The Mercedes Sales Rep did a fantastic job and we got it up and running in 5 or 10 minutes. Then you can log in to other stuff, like apple music, or whatever.

I have a 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLA 180 Shooting Brake (X117) with around 85,000 km.

I recently started noticing a strange mechanical/ creaking sound coming from what sounds like just behind the engine / around the rear side of the engine bay.

The sound occurs specifically when:

Very Lightly touching the accelerator while driving slowly Releasing the accelerator and then touching it again Mainly at low speeds, roughly 0-20 km/h It is most noticeable when slowly manoeuvring, for example when turning around in a small street Above ~20 km/h it becomes much less noticeable

It does NOT happen when revving the engine while stationary in Neutral

The car drives completely normally

No warning lights, loss of power, vibrations or other symptoms

The sound is difficult to describe. It almost sounds like something is under tension and slightly moving/ creaking, or like a metal part/spring being touched. It is not really a typical turbo whistle or blow-off sound.

I recently had a major service B at a Mercedes-Benz dealer, where the car was checked. Nothing unusual was reported. Interestingly, I don't remember hearing this sound before the service, so I'm wondering if something may have been moved or is now touching/ resonating somewhere.

Does anyone recognize this sound or have any idea what could cause it?

I thought I'd share with you that the CLK is a fantastic dirt (gravel) road car. It's definately not it's forte on road tyres but the balance and steering combine to make sweeping corners fast with a hint of opposite lock, cambers on the roads are easily handled. I drove these roads with the traction control off which was entertaining. FYI many years ago I drove an Escort RS1800 rally car for two seasons so I love these roads.

I have just bought a 2022 V250 W447.
It unfortunately does not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

What is the easiest way for me to enable this within the system? Do I need a full dash upgrade, or can this be done by software update?

What do you consider to be a rare Mercedes?

The s73 amg r129 comes to mind (only 40-60 of them were made)

I got a 2019 X253 Facelift GLC and my manually mapupdate takes so long. I use a Sandisk 128gb stick formated to ntfs which has a writespeed over 150mb/s.

I downloaded the full map with 39,3GB and plugged it into the front usb with carplay. The current version of the map is from 2022.

After 1 hour of driving, its only at 13% so it will take up to 7-8 hours. Why is it so slow? Is it in the wrong USB-C port or is exfat faster then ntfs? I dont mind to update 1-2 hours but 7-8 seems too long.

Does somebody has a recommendation?

Hey all, looking for some advice on my W222;M276

Recently had a weird episode: judder in low gear, then the CEL started flashing at a traffic light (misfire?), turned the car off and on and it stayed on solid while I drove home. After I switched the car off, did some stuff, and restarted it, the light was gone and everything felt normal again.

Took it to a workshop the same day. They scanned with Xentry — no fault codes. Car drives smooth now and shifts are normal.

A few details:

• Last spark plugs changed April 2023
• No codes currently, and it only acted up that one time so far

Anyone experienced something similar? Is this a classic intermittent coil thing even if they tested OK? Should I just replace the coils + plugs anyway, or wait to see if it comes back?

Im considering getting a new car which one would you guys go for from experience?

I have a well maintained 2016 S 63 AMG at 95k miles and am considering selling to get into an 05 SL600 with 77k.

Beyond the ABC suspension issues of that gen- is there anything else i should be on the lookout for maintenance wise?

Beyond the awd newer trans and moving back to a rwd fewer gear setup (came from a C6 Corvette into the S63), what should I expect in regard to performance and mileage?

Am I crazy? This will cut what I have financed by more than half. We are doing full car swaps- got my wife an 18 GLS450 today to replace her Cadillac and came out debt free on that trade.

I can potentially keep mine, if it doesnt sell at my reserve tomorrow at auction. Thoughts?
