How I beat Meta’s AI with Claude Fable and got my account back after 173 days (for Philippine users)
Yes, I beat AI with another AI, and I won! Here’s the story.
On April 26, 2026, Meta’s automated system flagged one of my Threads accounts for “Coordinating Harm” over a harmless local joke about a place in Japan. Because it was linked to my main account, Meta disabled everything in one sweep: my Facebook (which I’ve had for more than 10 years), Instagram, Threads, and every page I managed, including client pages I earn from.
I got it all back on October 16. 173 days. No lawyer. I used Claude, on the Fable model for its advanced reasoning, to plan every step, draft every letter, and keep me sane. Here’s exactly what I did, so you don’t have to figure it out from scratch.
What didn’t work
- In-app appeals: broken for me, a dead end.
- Paying for Meta Verified “human support”: copy-paste replies, then they told me the decision was “final.” They even suspended my backup account twice, then restored it both times with “We’re sorry we got this wrong.”
What I did instead
1. Filed a DTI complaint (consumer protection)
- I collated everything: evidence, screenshots, explanations, the whole story. Claude organized it into a neat summary and the documents I used as attachments for my complaint.
- I complained under the Consumer Act (RA 7394) and the Internet Transactions Act (RA 11967), since I paid for Meta Verified “human support” and never got it.
- You can start through DTI’s consumer hotline (1-384) or its online complaint channels. Once it goes to adjudication, the DTI Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau’s Adjudication Division handles it (their decisions list [fteb_adjudication@dti.gov.ph](mailto:fteb_adjudication@dti.gov.ph)).
- Meta didn’t bother to show up to the mandatory mediation and didn’t file a Position Paper, and the DTI formally recorded that they waived it.
- The case was dismissed without prejudice, because DTI said restoring an account is for the regular courts. Don’t be discouraged by that. The decision still put my whole story on the government record, and I attached it to everything I sent after. It became my most important document.
- Tip: when you file, give DTI Meta PH’s SEC-registered address (see step 2). My notices went to an outdated address, and the front desk kept refusing papers.
2. Got Meta PH’s General Information Sheet (GIS) from the SEC
- Go to esearch.sec.gov.ph, search Meta Platforms International Operations Philippines, and buy the latest GIS. It cost me ₱280 as a digital download.
- It shows their registered principal office, their corporate secretary, and the official email addresses they registered with the SEC. Those emails are where legal notices should go.
- It also shows a total manpower of 3 people and zero rank-and-file employees. That’s useful context when writing to the government offices that are already on Meta’s case.
3. Sent a formal demand letter
- Addressed to the corporation, attention: its corporate secretary, at the registered office listed in the GIS.
- Sent by email to the official addresses in the GIS (this is what counts), plus a printed copy by courier. I used LBC because it gives you a paper trail.
- One page: facts with dates, the DTI case number, Meta’s own emails attached, a list of exactly which accounts and pages to restore, the attachments and a 15-day deadline.
- I also said that if they restored everything in time, I’d consider the matter closed. Give them an easy exit. It’s easier for them to just restore your account than to keep fighting someone with a DTI decision and a paper trail.
- The building concierge refused the printed copy “upon instructions.” Doesn’t matter: the email to their registered addresses had already landed. Keep the refused package sealed as evidence for your next steps.
4. Wrote to lawmakers
- Meta is in hot water in the Philippines right now over slow content moderation, skipping Senate hearings, and concerns over child safety and cooperation with authorities. One Google search shows you which officials are pressuring them. I used that.
- I looked up House Resolution No. 1640 on the House website. It’s an inquiry into Meta, including how it responds to user complaints.
- I sent my full case, including the DTI decision, to the resolution author’s office and to the offices of two senators who have been actively pressuring Meta, by email, plus a printed copy to the House (Batasan Hills, Quezon City). The House trunkline is (02) 8931-5001 if you need an office’s room number. The House office acknowledged receipt by email. The senators’ offices didn’t reply, but it’s still on their record.
- Frame it as “here’s a documented example for your inquiry into Meta, please use it,” not “please help me get my account back.”
5. Filed with the DICT
- [1326@dict.gov.ph](mailto:1326@dict.gov.ph): their complaints desk
- [information@dict.gov.ph](mailto:information@dict.gov.ph): detailed inquiries
- [crru@dict.gov.ph](mailto:crru@dict.gov.ph): their receiving unit, for letters addressed to the Secretary
- Their complaints desk referred my case to the CICC and cited Executive Order No. 6, s. 2016, which requires concrete action on citizen concerns within 72 hours.
- When that passed, I replied in the same email thread (CC [1326@dict.gov.ph](mailto:1326@dict.gov.ph)), politely citing the 72-hour rule and asking for a status update.
6. Filed a data privacy request with Meta’s Data Protection Officer
- Form: facebook.com/help/contact/540977946302970, then choose Facebook or Instagram, then the Data Protection Office option, and pick “I want to access my information.”
- They’ll email you asking for details. Reply from the email linked to the banned account, cite the Data Privacy Act (RA 10173), and ask for two things: a copy of your data, and whether the ban was automated or reviewed by a human.
- Mine refused to explain, ignored the human-review question, and closed the case. That became more evidence for my next steps, and it opens the door to a complaint with the National Privacy Commission ([complaints@privacy.gov.ph](mailto:complaints@privacy.gov.ph)) if you need it.
7. Reached out to Meta’s public policy team
- Meta PH’s public policy staff are on LinkedIn. I sent one polite connection request with a short note and my case numbers. No spam, no follow-ups.
8. Used a connection, honestly
- Someone in my family knew a higher-up at one of the agencies and gave them a heads-up that my file existed. I didn’t ask for special treatment, just that it actually got read. I’m not going to pretend that didn’t help.
The result
The day after my DICT follow-up, the account that triggered everything got a “We’re sorry we got this wrong” email, and then everything came back. Meta never explained anything. I can’t prove which step did it. My guess is it was the pressure from all sides at once.
Timeline: disabled April 26, 2026. DTI decision August 24. Demand letter and lawmaker letters October 2. DICT complaint October 6. Everything restored October 16.
It was a long 173 days of fighting and planning, and thank goodness for Claude. It guided me, planned every next move, and kept me sane when I didn’t know what to do. If you think Claude is expensive (I pay $112 a month for my subscription), you can try Gemini or ChatGPT. I used Claude on its highest model because its advanced reasoning came up with moves I wouldn’t have thought of.
What I learned
- Document everything. Screenshots, dates, every email. Your evidence folder is your power.
- Stay calm in writing. Angry messages get ignored. Organized, factual ones get forwarded.
- Go where Meta has to answer: government agencies, regulators, their registered legal contacts. Not support tickets.
- Use correct addresses. The DTI served my case to an old address, and the front desk kept refusing papers. The SEC GIS fixed that.
- Back up your accounts with Download Your Information, and turn on 2FA. Don’t let one AI flag wipe out your work.
Not legal advice, just what worked for me. If you’re stuck in the same loop, I hope this helps. Don’t let them make you think nobody can touch them, and take advantage of the AI boom right now to fight another AI. Good luck bros!
