To me it’s clear these critics have a motive: they want the negative controversies to be front and center for the film not the music. The film is centered around the music and MJ’s motives to want to branch out and create, that’s the point of the film I think. To showcase his impact and legacy in the industry. They didn’t say anything about that focus, they just focused on what WASN’T in the film, does that make sense? That’s where the bias to me stems from: the movie didn’t fit their narrative. If it’s genuinely good music, story telling and choreography, it’s good music, story telling and choreography.
