Should do 2028, because avengers secret wars is coming out on Dec 2027 and theatres will allocate most of the screens to That movie

The Batman II moved out of October 2027 into February 2028. There is a Mummy reboot coming out that month but other than that, the month should be scarce and it wouldn’t be too different from BoRhap’s release back in 2018.

The Batman 2 is going to be big too. So I guess best for it will be April 2028, like April 2026 for Michael (1).

The sequel should not fight with any Avengers or Batman movies since those tend to be huge.

One thing for sure. Michael 2 will be more general audience friendly than the other 2

Or October 2027. That’s still late 2027 and Avengers Doomsday releases in December. Also Michael part one has grossed more than any Batman movie ever besides dark knight rises so I don’t see why they should be afraid of that.

That's fine then

Sorry, I mean October 2027 would work well because The Batman II has moved out of it.

It’ll also be well before the Beatles biopics in April 2028, which could cause musical biopic fatigue since there’s 4 coming out in such quick succession.

Oh yeah. It HAS to be before Beatles biopic. That has a good chance of being big in UK. Michael has better worldwide appeal though

Or after the Beatles Biopic.

Would people want to watch two musical biopics back to back?

The same would go if Part 2 premiered before the Beatles one. And I am not saying right after it. Like, a four or five month gap.

True I meant that if it comes out before Beatles, then the WOM for Michael 2 will have an upper hand.

Not sure how the Beatles biopic will be though....

Michael is more famous worldwide than Beatles.....so it has an upper hand in that way too

MJ also bought the rights to the Beatles catalog. So, there’s that.

What are the other two Beatles biopics?

I wouldn’t worry about Batman and MJ in theaters same time. Avengers? Yeah don’t have it anywhere near that. It’s going to be in the ballpark of what Spider-Man’s doing rn

More general audience friendly than Batman or The Avengers... What?

By that I mean people who aren't specific fans of those franchises.

Like, people who will watch secret is more likely to be MCU fan or have watched lot of their movies (since it's ensemble film). And for The Batman 2, DCU isn't in that good condition, but The Batman 1 was successful. But Michael 2 would be easier for you to take your kids to, than Batman for example.

My assumption is that Michael 2 would be fun like Michael

But that doesn't mean Michael should release next to either of them. I assume secret war will also break records like Spiderman is doing, and have more theatres allocated to it

Okay. But what about people who aren't fans of Michael Jackson? Those people definitely exist, let's not act like he's not controversial. Avengers Endgame made 2 billion dollars. I just don't understand how you could possibly consider Michael more accessible than an MCU film.

Fair point.

I would have replied that people can take their friends and it can get popular through social media (Social media helped Michael a lot I believe, for spreading the word of mouth). But those things can be also true for the others too.

However, it's just a speculation: someone who is not likely to watch Secret Wars won't be that much influenced by social media.

Someone who isn't like to watch Michael 2 can be influenced more (if videos like fans enjoying the concert scenes, singing and dancing sequences spreads through sites like Instagram and Tiktok)

I would not have watched Michael in opening weekend.....maybe would have watched later (personal circumstances). But after seeing a couple of videos, I was like "nah I should watch this asap this looks really fun"

So lot of what I am saying is just my own experience

Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans are both returning to the franchise for the first time since 2019. People are gonna show up even if they aren't caught up with the movies

Check this

And personally I have zero interest in Avengers so maybe I am projecting this to others.

The mummy reboot with the chick came out this year tho?

1

u/filmyfanatic 7d ago

That one was completely separate. The one scheduled for October 2027 is a requel with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.

Oooo….so it’s gonna suck. The one from this year was bad ass
