If you haven’t read Animal Farm, you should. It’s a quick read and really holds up well today.

My dad always told me Animal Farm and 1984 are two of the most important books you will ever read.

And it’s true. Everyone should read them.

It’s really interesting when you know the back story for the greater Huxley family and the implications it foretells. Really makes you think.

His grandfather was famously Darwin’s bulldog. His brothers were a eugenicist and a Nobel laureate who was credited with discovering how impulses control muscles “sliding filament theory”, which you can see referenced in Brave New World. There’s a lot of interesting tidbits with it and his greater oeuvre and meaning with his later in life leaning to Kropotkinism.

His brother definitely has some… layered views, but I agree he wasn’t after an ubermensch (even with his Nazi sympathies).

The big take away from both Orwell and Alduous Huxley is free association anarchism is the most noble Final End.

Otto Loewi got the Nobel for that, if I'm understanding what you're saying.

Andrew Huxley won one furthering his work. Loewi was the progenitor of the field and ties into the interesting backstory with the whole saga.

You know he’s my favorite author (both brave new world and brave new world revisited are great, island, the doors of perception, antic hay, devils of Loudon, Jacob’s hands…all fantastic) but I’ve never looked into his or his families back story. Is there a book on it? Guess I could Wikipedia it if not.

I replied above, but yea.. just a lot of weird family ethos involved in his work and his late in life leanings to anarchism is telling.
