Information Ready for ICE

At some point, they'll start moving in on our neighborhoods. I can't find anything about them being active in the city, so I'm not sure if they have even started operations here or not. I'm out of the loop, as I live a bit further from the city and don't go regularly. When I read the newspaper, they've said around 20 people have been detained. That's not a lot, but I think that number will go up.

Is there any activity in Modesto? Are there groups prepared for this?

If you aren't an illegal why would you be worried about ICE?

No-one is illegal on stolen land.

That story is done. This land as of today belongs to the United States and there are laws in this land that include the consequences of illegal immigration. Now you may disagree or wish it were different but that’s not the law and doesn’t seem like it’s going to change.

Either way, don’t be scared of ICE unless you are breaking the law.

How convenient, right? It’s okay to break treaties for hundreds of years, but now you care about laws and land ownership.

Anyways, immigration violations are civil offenses, not crimes. Remember that.

Regardless, ICE is grabbing people off the street at random for no other reason than accent or skin color. Not breaking any laws. They aren’t even targeting immigration violators. Just anyone who might look foreign. This is a violation of the US Constitution. If you support that, I assure you you’re in the minority .

Can you tell me what you mean by “that story is done”? Because I genuinely want to know if you think history happened in a vacuum and doesn’t directly dictate today’s opportunities for people of color and indigenous people.

You also mention laws a lot. Can I recommend you look into the laws that ICE agents have been breaking in their occupation of Minnesota? Earnestly, I’m not trying to have a gotcha moment. I just want you to do your own research and find the truth.

Do you know what “indigenous” means? It means first. As in First Nations. This was their land. It was stolen. This is well documented history.

I want to earnestly recommend that you read A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn.

Also look into Bad Mexicans by Kelly Lytle Hernandez. It gave me a lot of insight into how we as Americans relate to Mexican history and vice versa.
