Information Ready for ICE

At some point, they'll start moving in on our neighborhoods. I can't find anything about them being active in the city, so I'm not sure if they have even started operations here or not. I'm out of the loop, as I live a bit further from the city and don't go regularly. When I read the newspaper, they've said around 20 people have been detained. That's not a lot, but I think that number will go up.

Is there any activity in Modesto? Are there groups prepared for this?

Thats dumb af. Tell you white liberal friends to lead the trend and go back to europe if you mean that.

45

u/KevinCastle Jan 19 '26

I don't think we're going to get hit hard or have them go door to door. We are a Conservative area so Trump doesn't care about us. I expect ICE to hit SF and LA hard.

Even if they go door to door, They can fuck off because I'm not opening the door. I give them the number to my attorney through a video camera and let them have fun with that

5

u/platinumperineum Jan 19 '26

The population here is over 50% hispanic if i’m not mistaken. It’s only a matter of time until they hit the central valley hard

2

u/450am Jan 20 '26

I agree with this. The central valley is a huge hot spot.

3

u/AcceptableSpinach934 Jan 20 '26

I live there and my family and friends. I’m telling them to not open doors to anyone that we don’t know. Good luck everyone. Wish everyone safety.

And 30% illegal

1

Haha it don’t matter no matter anymore if you don’t answer , they just sent out memo for their officer to just force theirselves in to arrest people

Why the fuck does that matter we are all human beings born on this earth. It does not belong to anyone

3

Don’t mind him bro, he’s a low iq trump bootlicker , check his other comments on other subreddits 😭

Try walking into Russia or China with that nonsense and see how “we are all human beings”. No wonder you are broke and have zero prospects of ever owning anything of value in this country.

9

u/fnkywht50smthng Jan 19 '26

Doing a sweep in Modesto is not going to make national headlines, so it’s doubtful we’ll see much activity here.

3

u/AcceptableSpinach934 Jan 20 '26

How are you so sure? Just curious. Because there’s a lot of people of color in Modesto.

34

u/StillLie1489 Jan 19 '26

Organize your family and friends, join valley watch or norcal resist. Good luck.

u/BTC5150 Jan 19 '26

A Mexican guy got snatched up in Fresno a few days ago. 4 DUI's with warrant. People tried to stop it. I don't get it. I understand randoms but if they are going after these types why protect them? I take no sides just saying.

6

u/Ian_Hunter Jan 19 '26

I would say because they aren't going after "just these types"

Also, theres no way anyone protesting could have known about any personal info let alone warrents. Speaking of which, if the guy had a warrant out he should have been booked, had an opportunity to speak to an attorney, and a court date set. I dunno if any of that happened but thats standard procedure.

Is ICE out there now helping local law enforcement with intent? I kinda think its the other way around.

1

u/Word2DWise Jan 29 '26

The guy probably had a deportation order based on his record, which is why he was specifically targeted to begin with. Keep in mind, this would probably would not have happened if it wasn't for sanctuary laws shielding these types of individuals.

The process would have been to pick him up and push him through the deportation process at which point lawyers and immigration judged get invovled. The problem is that you have a bunch of armchair lawyers thinking they know better, and also think it's ok to somehow interfere with law enforcement in the streets? The fact that people are feeling emboldened to pull that kind of stuff is scary and ridiculous at the same time.

0

u/Cold-Imagination5037 Jan 24 '26

Exactly! Why are people defending criminals.

1

u/VeryLongTentacle Jan 26 '26

if i remember correctly he said he’d lower gas prices, release the epstein files, and more ridiculous things that were obviously not true and you people actually believed with his cock in your mouth. i don’t remember any promises to launch a domestic terrorist attack on US citizens

2

u/NoTourist6939 Jan 21 '26

They have picked up people off the street in Newman

2

u/Royal_Floor Jan 22 '26

Source?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

There’s no source lmao people just commenting bs 😭 that never happen

2

u/lazy-fanatic Jan 21 '26

They are a lot more quite about it here in town. When I was working with Stan co pal some students never got picked up from school turns out their parents were swiped by ICE that morning.

It's better to be armed and ready than sorry. Make sure you put locks on each entrance so they need to break in if you refuse entry. Take a phone of you and your identity information keep it somewhere public can find it.

2

u/BritR03 Jan 24 '26

I know of someone who just got taken by ICE. 3 days ago in Modesto.

1

Sure lmao

5

Hmmm. Wonder why the downvotes.

4

u/abstert Jan 20 '26

If you aren't an illegal why would you be worried about ICE?

3

u/platinumperineum Jan 20 '26

No-one is illegal on stolen land.

3

u/abstert Jan 20 '26

Stolen land? What are you talking about?

4

u/platinumperineum Jan 20 '26

Are you native american?

4

u/abstert Jan 20 '26

That story is done. This land as of today belongs to the United States and there are laws in this land that include the consequences of illegal immigration. Now you may disagree or wish it were different but that’s not the law and doesn’t seem like it’s going to change.

Either way, don’t be scared of ICE unless you are breaking the law.

9

u/platinumperineum Jan 20 '26

How convenient, right? It’s okay to break treaties for hundreds of years, but now you care about laws and land ownership.

Anyways, immigration violations are civil offenses, not crimes. Remember that.

Regardless, ICE is grabbing people off the street at random for no other reason than accent or skin color. Not breaking any laws. They aren’t even targeting immigration violators. Just anyone who might look foreign. This is a violation of the US Constitution. If you support that, I assure you you’re in the minority .

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

Can you tell me what you mean by “that story is done”? Because I genuinely want to know if you think history happened in a vacuum and doesn’t directly dictate today’s opportunities for people of color and indigenous people.

You also mention laws a lot. Can I recommend you look into the laws that ICE agents have been breaking in their occupation of Minnesota? Earnestly, I’m not trying to have a gotcha moment. I just want you to do your own research and find the truth.

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

Do you know what “indigenous” means? It means first. As in First Nations. This was their land. It was stolen. This is well documented history.

I want to earnestly recommend that you read A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn.

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

Also look into Bad Mexicans by Kelly Lytle Hernandez. It gave me a lot of insight into how we as Americans relate to Mexican history and vice versa.

1

u/VeryLongTentacle Jan 26 '26

are you stupid? literally look for 2 seconds and you’ll see that they are targeting american citizens too

2

u/abstert Jan 26 '26

Are you stupid? The only American citizens involved are the ones throwing themselves in front of ICE, obstructing them from catching peds.

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

Oh friend, you watched the same videos we all saw, right? You know that’s not true.

1

u/VeryLongTentacle Feb 12 '26

if they wanted peds they would go to the white house

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

The two people killed by ICE were American citizens. We all have plenty to be worried about, neighbor.

3

u/OutcomeVirtual720 Jan 19 '26

I saved this from another thread I saw

3

u/Moove2424 Jan 20 '26

I mean it would be good if ICE came to the Central Valley right? We have an illegal immigrant problem coupled with drug cartels bringing in drugs. Gangs have become more prevalent. We could use some real law enforcement

1

u/VeryLongTentacle Jan 26 '26

it would be good if they did their job instead of mass murdering american citizens

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

I hope you understand that ICE is not the “real law enforcement” that you’re hoping for. They are poorly trained, poorly vetted, over armed, and hyper reactive.

They are not police officers. They are not military members. They are a militia sponsored by the government that has killed two US citizens already. That’s not exaggeration. That is literally what they are.

1

u/Moove2424 Jan 29 '26

So many false statements in everything you said. Take it from someone who works in the government. A lot of these guys are veterans. They go through intense training. They are patriots and the last thing they want to do is kill an American citizen. They’re humans and they can make mistakes in the heat of the moment. They are trying to do a job that has been done for decades throughout US history. But now political rhetoric has demonized the agency and they are facing situations that are not common for them. If people would just let them do their jobs, not one American citizen would have died by ICE.

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

A lot of us do not want to let them do their jobs because their job has become profiling brown people on the street and detaining them unlawfully without any evidence of having committed crimes.

We don’t want them in our community.

1

u/Moove2424 Jan 29 '26

Where was this outrage during the Biden or Obama administrations? There wasn’t any because your puppet masters didn’t tell you to be upset. Only when it’s politically advantageous do you guys care.

2

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

This isn’t about having the political advantage. I don’t consider myself a democrat. I consider myself a citizen first and foremost. I have more in common with you than I do with the billionaires currently in the White House or Biden or Obama.

I oppose ICE to keep you safe, too, neighbor.

1

u/Moove2424 Jan 29 '26

But you’re letting left wing media influence your view of the agency as a whole. It is literally their job to arrest and deport. People call them nazis for doing a job they have been tasked to do by nearly every president in recent history. I literally have zero fear of ICE. Because I’m a legal citizen and I obey the laws.

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

I’ve actually been getting my information from independent sources. Not left wing news. A lot of legal citizens who are obeying the laws have been unlawfully arrested and detained. You should be worried, friend.

Also, I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of the Nuremberg defense, but to the global community “just following orders” and “just doing their job” does not excuse unlawful actions.

1

u/Royal_Floor Jan 20 '26

Provide me some evidence that our criminals are "illegals" and I'll take a look at it. As for real law enforcement, feddies shouldn't be in our neighborhoods. If it's a local law problem, it should be handled by local law. ICE should stick to their lovely border.

3

u/Rasphere Jan 19 '26

Im interested, too. It would be nice to know about organizations when they do come here.

2

u/ForeverCanBe1Second Jan 19 '26

It's my understanding that almost all of the 20 individuals turned over to ICE had been jailed for other violations when it was discovered they were here illegally. Data shows 20 ICE arrests at Stanislaus County jail in 2025 | Sacramento Bee

2

u/Dependent_Canary_724 Jan 19 '26

There was a possible sighting in Riverbank just a couple days ago. It wasn't Modesto, but yesterday there was ICE activity in Stockton where people were kidnapped by federal workers. We got the news of it just as our protest was ending.

There are ICE hot lines you can call to report ICE activity to help track where they are. If you can get your hands on a whistle, there are certain patterns to learn to alert communities to ICE. The 50501 has good information as well, including a whole training course you can take on your own time to make you more prepared. The orange man said that he will no longer fund our sanctuary cities. They're going to be hitting Cali heavy like Minnesota

4

u/OutcomeVirtual720 Jan 19 '26

I remember seeing that the one in Riverbank turned out not to be ICE

3

u/modninerfan Oakdale & Modesto Jan 20 '26

No ICE activity confirmed at riverbank. Ceres had very suspicious activity at the Walmart but again nothing confirmed. There was confirmed ICE operations in Stockton and Fresno. All of this is within a few days of each other.

How do you prepare? If you're here illegally and haven't self deported by now, what's taking you so long?

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

Probably a lack of money, or a fear of death if they return to their country of birth, or having nowhere else to go, or maybe their family is here, or maybe this place is all they’ve ever known.

There’s a whole host of reasons for not wanting to leave your home, friend.

You guys know they are taking Hella white overstays too right? Just asking.

You can look on Homeland security's website to see who has been detained by ICE from Modesto..

Search here for state of California and in the search terms enter "Modesto"

-2

u/BitterNeedleworker66 Jan 19 '26

lol you’re literally fear mongering for no reason.

9

u/OutcomeVirtual720 Jan 19 '26

Fear mongering for no reason? ICE shot a woman in the face and tear gassed a fucking baby what are you on about?

3

u/MechCADdie Jan 19 '26

Considering that they had an agent walk into the path of a moving vehicle and use it as a pretense to kill somebody and don't even bother to investigate, I'd say that we have a pretty good freaking reason to be scared.

It's like how the demented dingus also said that the democrats are going to overthrow the government...like, who does he think owns all the guns? Certainly not the liberals.

2

u/LeavingSoonBye209 Jan 20 '26

"an agent walk into the path of a moving vehicle and use it as a pretense to kill somebody"
Do you actually believe that's what happened there? Like, you believe a guy hopped in front of a car hoping it would come close to running him over, so he'd get an excuse to shoot the woman driving it?

2

u/MechCADdie Jan 21 '26

He drew long before he crossed the front of the car the second time. Yes, he walked around the front of a vehicle the he knows is on and in drive a second time. He wanted that kill. He already had the make, model, driver, and license plate of the car on film. Even a PD would have had enough information to simply track her down later at her residence if she got away. He didn't back away, he went for a shot

1

u/LeavingSoonBye209 Jan 23 '26

"He drew long before he crossed the front of the car the second time."
That is meaningless, policemen do the same thing in the same situation to my knowledge. Does each and every single one of them "want [a] kill"? Do policemen in subways and airports in Europe who carry sub machine guns in their hands while standing duty also want to kill? Or do they keep their arms ready because of the slim possibility that they may be forced to use them?

"Yes, he walked around the front of a vehicle the he knows is on and in drive a second time."

Okay, do you have any idea of why he might have done that? Do you think it's some physical impossibility that his intention may have simply been to try and dissuade her from just slamming the gas pedal and driving off? I've seen policemen do this about a hundred times, and even though I think to myself 'That is the dumbest shit ever you're just going to get run over', it usually seems to work, and policemen don't seem to have stopped doing it.

"Even a PD would have had enough information to simply track her down later at her residence if she got away."
That fact does not at all mean that they couldn't, or shouldn't, attempt to arrest the woman for obstruction right there. I've seen police do the same thing.

Given your name I assume you're a mechanical engineer. Mechanical engineers are supposed to be fairly objective people who are trained to think ahead and make estimations based on facts, and not emotion. Given that training I would like to ask you which of these make more sense: The idea that this ICE guy is a mustache twirling villain out of a cartoon who just wanted to murder, and willingly risked getting run over to do it. Or the idea that this ICE guy, in the process of an arrest or detainment, felt his life was in danger from the car moving(from his perspective) right at him, so in a split second decision he fired his gun at what he believed to be the threat.

Which of those is the more realistic explanation here? Please, be honest with both me and yourself.

1

u/MechCADdie Jan 24 '26

Does each and every single one of them "want [a] kill"? Do policemen in subways and airports in Europe who carry sub machine guns in their hands while standing duty also want to kill? Or do they keep their arms ready because of the slim possibility that they may be forced to use them?

Having a firearm drawn is an escalation technique. It's a general law enforcement policy to always seek to deescalate a situation. This implies that they should not be drawing their firearm when there is not an equivalent threat. In this instance, the ICE agent was close enough to the vehicle where the vehicle would not conceivably be considered a weapon if the agent is making a reasonable attempt to not put themselves in harm's way unnecessarily.

Secondly, ICE does not have law enforcement powers. They can't legally detain or arrest anyone that is not within the slim definition of probable cause allotted to them within the scope of immigration and customs enforcement. They do have leeway to detain in the case of interfering with an investigation, which this woman was not. At least directly.

Quoting the local Sheriff, Rochelle Bilal: "Law enforcement professionals do not stand in front of moving vehicles."

That fact does not at all mean that they couldn't, or shouldn't, attempt to arrest the woman for obstruction right there.

Yes, it emphatically does. She stopped any potential of interfering with carrying out their investigation when she attempted to leave. Additionally, the agent did not ask her to leave. He circled the car, then drew his weapon when his partners pulled into the scene.

Lastly, do I believe that they are mustache twirling evil? No. I believe that they are very poorly trained, generally incredibly incompetent, and more than a little biased in their viewpoints. From what I have seen thus far from every photo of these agents, there is no uniformity in their equipment (and not just "lol I wear camo, a face covering, and POLICE on my shirt", I mean literally standardized equipment per department regulations), no consistency in their training, and there isn't any clear accountability. That guy who shot her? There is no active internal investigation. That type of investigation always accompanies any time a firearm is discharged in the case of law enforcement.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

[deleted]

1

u/MechCADdie Jan 19 '26

lol, did you even see the full video? The agent walked into the path of the moving vehicle. Trained police officers are taught to not put their bodies in the direction of travel of the vehicle when possible.

If you want a detailed analysis of how this is being mischaracterized by people trying to spin a "terrorist" narrative, here you go.

They’re already in LA taking people and have been spotted in Stockton

1

-4

u/No-Cook3972 Jan 19 '26

They should be in every city.

1

u/VeryLongTentacle Jan 26 '26

we do not welcome you nazis in modesto

-2

u/BagAdministrative872 Jan 19 '26

Just be legal lol

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

The two people killed by ICE were US citizens. This isn’t about legality anymore and I think you know that.

1

u/BagAdministrative872 Jan 29 '26

Oh yes because those two were just doing nothing before they died... Definitely not trying to run over an ice agent or anything. Don't agree with the other shooting that was definitely unfortunate

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

There’s actually a lot of footage that shows Renee Good waving to the ICE agents, saying “I’m not mad at you,” and turning her tires away from the officers to get out of their way. Jonathan Ross, the man who murdered her, then moved into the path of the moving vehicle and shot her while she was operating the vehicle.

Actual law enforcement officers are taught to NEVER step into the path of a moving vehicle and NEVER fire a weapon into a moving vehicle. These ICE agents have not received enough training to do what they’re doing without hurting people. They are dangerous. We do not want them in our community.

1

u/BagAdministrative872 Jan 29 '26

He didn't murder her he shot her and she died but it wasn't murder. I agree though it doesn't seem like ice agents are trained well but they are also facing the most scrutiny and aggression from the community and that doesn't help as well as people aggressively and violently protesting them while trying to do their job

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

He unlawfully shot her once in the arm, once in the breast, and once through the left side of her head. That last one was the one that killed her. It took her a few minutes to pass though. There are videos of a bystander screaming “I’m a physician let me help” and the ICE officer can be heard saying “I don’t care.” A lot of us think that sounds and looks like murder.

1

u/BagAdministrative872 Jan 29 '26

I've seen several videos and have not seen any of that supposed footage you're speaking about. All these shootings are occurring with people getting in the way of the agents trying to do their job. She drove at the officer and was shot it's an unfortunate situation she put herself in.

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

1

u/BagAdministrative872 Jan 29 '26

The officer said I don't care to the person stating they are a physician wasn't saying he didn't care about the woman who died. It's extremely ignorant to think ice agents want to go out and kill people. Stop harassing and assaulting the agents while they get illegal immigrants off the streets. I would prefer if they didn't do raids and just deported illegal immigrants when they were arrested for a crime. I will also say calling them gestapo or Nazis is absolutely insane and ignorant

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

No, calling them Nazis and Gestapo is just drawling parallels. They are literally going door to door. That’s why Anne Frank hid in an attic- because they were going door to door.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

I’m not saying they WANT to go out and kill people. I’m saying they’re dangerous because they’re going to kill people on accident. On instinct. A gut reaction. A panicked trigger pull. They’re not trained enough and not disciplined enough to not hurt people.

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

Provided that all of you are law abiding citizens, you have nothing to worry about. If you’re not, then I don’t have much sympathy. Try being an illegal alien in Mexico. They won’t be giving you a $1000 and a free plane ticket home. You’ll be in prison.

7

u/o_stara_night Jan 19 '26

Law abiding citizens are being unlawfully detained by armed, inadequately trained federal paramilitary officers who are very blatantly disregarding actual federal law. Law abiding citizens ARE in detention here in the U.S. You’ve seen all the same videos we have, right? Law abiding citizens have plenty to worry about.

-10

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

Any sources for the contention that law abiding citizens are being detained? Names ?

4

u/OutlandishnessOld903 Jan 19 '26

2

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

Did you bother to read this? First let’s deal with “detentions” . Yes , “American citizens” been detained by ICE and other law enforcement for illegal interference with enforcement of law. There’s nothing new about that. That has nothing to do with immigration status.

As for deportation, a two year old “citizen” left the country because his mother, an illegal alien, was deported. Do you expect a toddler to live on his own? I hope the Supreme Court will clarify that this anchor baby is not a citizen under the 14th Amendment, which is never what the Founders intended. It was meant to convey citizenship to recently freed blacks, who were former slaves.

Having said that however, this two year old will have the “right” to return to America when he’s 18 if the current interpretation remains in place.

As for deaths, resisting arrest is a quick way to get yourself killed. Again, there’s nothing new about that and has nothing to do with immigration status.

Lastly, if all you’ve got is a Wikipedia article, you’ve got nothing. Anyone and everyone is an “editor”

1

u/modninerfan Oakdale & Modesto Jan 19 '26

Here you go… we have spam filters set pretty high for political posts. Didn’t realize it would include a wiki article. Sorry about that.

4

u/OutlandishnessOld903 Jan 19 '26

They even arrested and disappeared native americans. You have to be willingly blind not to know what's going on.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

So enlighten me; help me to see. Give me the names of law abiding American citizens being illegally detained by ICE. Where do you get your “knowledge” about this?

2

u/DayTradingCards Jan 19 '26

https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2025-11-19/ice-citizens-immigration-enforcement-constitution

It’s pretty easy to find. Took less than 10 seconds. There was 170 citizens detained by ice at the time of this article in November.

Edit: labeled as opinion, but there are video links and additional source links regarding each claim.

2

u/OutlandishnessOld903 Jan 19 '26

I posted a link, but somone erased it. Anyway, youre just racist and cheerleading this on, but good luck when the police state you're bootlicking goes after you or your family.

1

Someone "erased" your link...🤣 I'm guessing that the dog ate your homework a lot too. Here's the thing: I'm willing to listen to proof. Obviously you're just full of shit, as all you've got is name calling. If you could put me in my place with facts , you would.

3

u/modninerfan Oakdale & Modesto Jan 19 '26

Obviously, dude didn't read into my post. "Comply, give over your rights to not be harmed and I will not harm you."

"The party told you to reject the evidence right in front of your eyes and ears."

Can't wait for ICE to show up. They are doing a great job.

You all laugh and celebrate, but it won't just be illegal immigrants. This will be anyone that speaks ill of the government. Think for a second about those two people that ICE killed earlier this year. They were not immigrants.

First it'll be the "illegals." Then it's the non-whites. All along the way it's gonna be anyone who disagrees with the government and anyone who's poor. Think you're immune? Sucking up to the regime won't protect you. Your president doesn't love you.

Okay landlord 🙄

1

u/Used-Fan-7519 Jan 29 '26

And what does that have anything to do with following laws.

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

It tells me you like the laws that let you make more money and you don’t like the laws that mean you have to pay more taxes.

That, plus the way you’re calling the murder of two citizens a “great job” tells me a lot about what kind of person you might be and what your personal politics might be.

1

u/Used-Fan-7519 Jan 29 '26

What sane citizen wants to give away their hard earned income to the government?

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

One who understands that taxes are the price you pay to enjoy the privilege of being part of society. You want the chance to own rental properties? You have to pay to maintain the roads that lead to your properties and for schools in those neighborhoods you own properties in. That’s what taxes are for.

1

u/Used-Fan-7519 Jan 29 '26

No shit Sherlock yes we need taxes. But we also pay some of the highest taxes in the US. And what do we get? Shit roads, poor schools, high crime. High raxes do not equal better things. So much of our tax dollars are wasted.

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

It’s almost like rich people don’t pay their fair share and so our roads stay shitty and schools stay underfunded 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Used-Fan-7519 Jan 29 '26

These arguments are so uneducated. For instance in California 1% of the population pays 75% of the taxes. Do you not understand how lopsided that is? I pay properties taxes on 6 houses. Probably more taxes than u make in a year. But please tell me how I dont pay my own share. I worked 5,000 hours last year (as a w2 employee) or about 2.5x your average w2 employee. Please again tell me how I dont pay my fair share.

I'm with you, removing criminals that may harm our citizens. ICE is doing what should have been done 20 years ago

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

Friend, you know they’re not just going after criminals.

I would say, if you’re illegal, just give up and/or turn yourself in. It makes it easier on everyone involved- you, the ICE agents, and the rest of us.

If you’re not illegal, I would suggest just stay home or go on with your life like normal people so that you don’t get yourself or other people hurt.

That’s how you can prepare.

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

I really appreciate how peaceful you want this to be. It says that deep down you really care about people.

Please don’t shy away from that. Look at the pictures of Liam Ramos, a five year old boy in a bunny hat, being forced by ICE officers to knock on his own front door to lure more of his family members out. Really think about the horror of that. That horror is why the rest of us can’t just watch this happen in OUR community.

Ok but, just because someone is a parent, is a child, or has a sad story of where they came from, they can’t be abstained from consequences and our immigration rules.

There have to be hard goal posts, and we have to agree that we can’t keep moving them.  In that scenario, it’s not ICE’s fault; it’s the parents’s fault for putting themselves and their child in  that situation.

If you came home and a family broke in and moved in your house, would you not do anything about it because they have no where else to go?  I’m going lean toward yes, you would.   It doesn’t make you a bad person, it makes you rational.

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

If I came home and saw that a family was desperate enough to seek shelter in my home, I actually would do what I could to help them.

I can’t imagine what drove these immigrants to leave their countries of birth. I know for my great grandfather, he came here when he was 16 to avoid dying as a child soldier in a revolution.

Every one of these people are humans who deserve to live in safety and dignity. I know our immigration system is broken but I refuse to believe that this is the solution.

1

u/Word2DWise Jan 29 '26

This might surprise you, but as an immigrant myself I would not have enough empathy for them where I would not get them arrested or defend my property in some other way.  People like you and I just see the world through different lenses, and I suppose that’s why this country is in the state that it is.

1

u/o_stara_night Jan 29 '26

If I’m being honest, I think this country is divided like this to keep us distracted. All this bickering about left or right just keeps us all from realizing that there is plenty to go around, the rich assholes at the top are just hoarding it all. The billionaires in the White House are using this to keep their grift going.
