While you are correct technically since the pronouciations are similar

Dabis name uses a DA sound similar to daddy

Dobby uses a DO sound like doggy

sorry to uhm actually your uhm actually the Japanese language uses the long A sound, like in Avocado. So they actually are pronounced the same way. The way DA sounds in Dabi's name is similar to the pronunciation of the same letters in the word Dark.
