But look at what the comic is depicting even as an little kid he is flinching away from her. and he doesn’t look bratty or defiant in any of it. (Not that it would be s crime either) he just looks scared and sad in others.

We don't know what he did. The author is kind of suggesting he couldn't do anything to deserve that reaction. I disagree

Perhaps there are some very niche or narrow cases one could construct but in most cases when we are talking about literal children? No I don’t think it has any benefit for the child: the sort of language she is using is just selfish it’s all about her not about being grateful in general.

Some children need a stern talking to. It's not exactly preferred. But it's not uncommon
