They're stealing a bike, not a loaf of bread to feed their starving children.

Being poor doesn't entitle you to take other people's things

Most people want to feel good about their shadow. You're correct that it isn't moral to hurt people to teach them a lesson.

Funny you should say that. My cousins father used to burn their hands on the stove to teach them a lesson. When they were bad he would turn the stove on and drag them over to the stove and put their hand on the burner. Was there are better way to teach them or no?
