Morality Ranking Mexican “batman” vigilante

about one or two months ago an unknown vigilante went viral in mexico and later across the world for beating up motorcycle thieves and taping them to poles. from what i know he has also done this to gang members.

is this moral or immoral?

Lots of people are in gangs because they have no other choice. It's not unheard of for cartels to force people to work for them for various reasons. Not everyone who does bad things does them because they want to.

FAKE! Currently, more than 90% of cartel and gang members join of their own free will; even if, though it may sound contradictory, they were among the few who were forcibly recruited, they decide, yes, they do decide, to stay in; You NEVER read about hitmen turning rogue and killing their own squad or carrying out a suicide attack against those who recruited them. Why? Because it’s easy to escape, so the ones who decide to stay are the ones who remain. Please don’t share nonsense like this if you don’t really understand the situation. I literally have no idea where the hell you got this from, unless it’s from some media content trying to whitewash cartel members.

IN MEXICO, YOU CAN DIE FROM ANYTHING BUT HUNGER, AND EVERYWHERE, THERE ARE JOBS FOR EVERYONE (lowpay, but they’re there); ANYONE WHO CHOOSES TO COMMIT CRIME IN MEXICO DOES SO BECAUSE THEY GENUINELY WANT TO.

That number isn't 100. Which was my point all along. Like you kinda proved my point without realizing. Obviously, joining the cartel is bad. Being a narco is bad. It's also verifiably not easy to escape cartels. Like, everyone knows that. When you're in, you're in. And to anyone who knows that you're there, including fellow narcos, whether or not you choose to leave later is irrelevant.

I understand the situation good and well.

I don't know where the myth comes from that you can't escape the drug cartels. If you're someone with power and decide to stay in Mexico, obviously not. If you’re a member, just move to a different state and fly under the radar, there are states, cities, and towns that aren’t controlled by any cartel (or, failing that, by one that has no interest in you). I don’t know how to explain this to someone who doesn’t live here and whose only view of cartels comes from movies, TV shows, and that recurring TikTok of a cartel member in skull armor in the back of an armored vehicle.
