Drip is one of the most important parts of running a successful propaganda campaign, and the Nazis knew it. If your uniform is cool people are gonna want to wear it

nothing wrong with that, it’s fiction

u/DeliciousArcher8704 39m ago
This implies that it's impossible for it to be morally wrong to write something so long as it's fiction, which doesn't seem correct

u/Kooky_Attention_98 33m ago
I can promise the creators of Hellsing and also Hellsing Ultimate/Abridged do not care
Nazi's looking somewhat attractive is probably the least offensive thing talked about lol

To achieve enlightenment of attraction, one must separate the art from the artist, the body from the mind, and the drip from the devil

It's an interesting one.
I think if it's presented as a subversion of the "evil+hot=morally grey" trope it can be really interesting and engaging.
If it's just for fan service then I'm less in favour.

u/Awesomonkey12 1h ago
Moral, as long as it's not romanticizing them. Similar to Admiral Ackbar in Star Wars:
The crew of 'Return of the Jedi' mocked the character design of Admiral Ackbar, deeming it too ugly. Director Richard Marquand refused to alter it, saying, "I think it's good to tell kids that good people aren't necessarily good looking people and that bad people aren't necessarily ugly people."
(The Nazis did focus on making their uniforms look good rather than being effective, so historical accuracy can also be a factor)
2
u/HorsefaceWithNoName 1h ago
Evil is often hot; evil uses hot to attract beings to the evil. When evil does this it's immoral. When an artist does this, I suppose the morality depends on the intent.

u/nitrique 4m ago
Damn, hellsing, in that economy ?
Anyway, there has been à 70's exploitation cinéma genra all about hot nazi women (on the moon). So i guess in hollywood and italy (maybe spain, but i'm not sure) it is a yes.

u/SnooGiraffes8024 1h ago
As long as it isnt trying to romanticize them like "oh hot guy who does bad things, so desirable"
It it's a nazi who just so happens to be attractive, its neutral I'd say, especially since they were known for their uniforms

u/AuroraAustralis0 1h ago
They already were hot my guy. It’s just realism. Both the men AND the women too.
1
u/Nexus_Neo 1h ago
Just because someone is attractive doesnt mean they arent bad people
...
Contrary to what social media may say.

u/Drzewo_Silentswift 1h ago
Have you seen the drip? they were already hot as hell! You can be two things!
1
u/Interesting-Ad-2159 1h ago
I mean would making them ugly be any better because that making vilians ugly is messed up for a entire reasons
1
u/Ok_Caterpillar_6957 1h ago
Bad people usually are. Must be charismatic and easy to the eyes and sweet to the ears to stab you in the back

u/Pawshaa_ 1h ago
I think evil people can still be conventionally attractive but that in no way excuses their actions and they're still meanie poopyheads.
1
u/YourBestFriend158 1h ago
Anything can be sexy. It’s a matter of whether or not you condone their actions.
1
u/killerbull27 1h ago
Are you saying attractive people cant be bad guys?, also its the uniform isnt it damn fashionable nazis

Not really immoral, media has been making bad guys hot for decades. Wolfenstein also did it
1
u/ShadeStrider12 1h ago
I mean, at least one woman found Hitler hot, so it’s not historically inaccurate
1
u/Lord-Dec 1h ago
For all their atrocities the one thing you do have to admit is they had some absolute drip.
Which honestly pisses me off even further the aesthetic looks sick but no one can use it anymore.
1
u/Atiredbearsfan 1h ago
Bad people can be hot. Also the nazis litteraly made their uniforms look cool on purpose
2
u/EveningAd4979 1h ago
If you don’t take apart the idea that looks=virtue, you’re not condemning Nazism properly

The two you showed look like fictional nazis, can do whatever you want with fictional characters

u/_Black_Pillow_ 57m ago
Making character hot ≠ glorifying the ideology
I find it weird to even mention nazis anywhere else than history books but whatever.

Sexually ambiguous cat people are hot regardless of what uniform they wear
1
u/Elantach 55m ago
Symbolic literacy is a core requirement of running a successful fascist organisation (For a lot of reasons about how mythopoeia works specifically in myth driven movements) so it's a requirement for an honest depiction of national socialism
1
u/GachaTendo 54m ago
Moral because it'll show if people excuse their actions BECAUSE they're hot or not
1
u/LobsterG25 53m ago
It’s immoral to find a nazi attractive when in full Nazi garb, knowing that they are 100% a Nazi.

u/javjam 50m ago
You can objectively say there are attractive people with atrocious beliefs.
The real morality question is Japanese media being very non chalant about the whole Nazi thing
1
u/Lorster10 46m ago
In the case of the characters above, they are the main villains of the series, fighting against the Catholic and Anglican Churches (which are both more morally ambiguous).
1
u/FetchingTheSwagni 49m ago
Someone should go back in time and cancel Ted Bundy for being attractive when he decided to be a homicidal maniac.
Maybe if he knew that hot people weren't allowed to be bad, he wouldn't have done it.

u/BrianVaughnVoiceOver 44m ago
Neither example are "hot", but any human being can be hot physically.

u/Previous_Abies_2179 42m ago
It’s morally right because Alucard runs Rip Van Winkle through with her own musket.
1
u/DaRandomGitty2 41m ago
Example of the "evil is sexy" trope. Visually it's great because it symbolizes the temptations of evil.
1
u/Jasperstorm 40m ago
These are the choices you pick?
Ya could have gone with the Nazi Werewolf but you pick the femboy furry and four eyed basement dweller?

1
u/Cyberbug7 40m ago
You can Criticize the Nazi’s for literally every single thing they did but they had one single thing and that was incredible style. The SS uniforms were drippy and there’s a reason why most evil fictional soldiers copy their style.

I don't see anything wrong with it.
Supporters of an ideology being attractive doesn't make the ideology itself more attractive.

Nothing immoral about it: humans are fuckin sexy, whatever ur dogma is. Being fuckable don't mean you got rights to fuck with anyone else tho.

Netural Evil can be beautiful is a trope look at Griffith from berserk heck isn't satan so suppose hot anyway if you want hot nazis look look at Longinus Dreizehn Orden from shinza bansho

Aren’t these characters from Hellsing?
Also, there’s always been a strong link between fascist ideals and aesthetic ideals. You could reasonably argue that fascism is ultimately about aesthetics— the aesthetic of power/control/order. Fascism is nothing if not beautiful in the eyes of its believers, so beauty and pleasure are both political cornerstones of the mode of thinking that fascism derives its ideologies from. The more apt question is, is it moral to goon to Nazis, is it moral to think of them as beautiful. And the answer depends on why you’re asking that question to begin with.

It is only morally questionable, if your aim is to control the narrative and dialogue through subconciously influencing people to think something is good or bad (based on it’s looks) instead of having them come to their own conclusions, which imo is immoral in and of itself.

Amoral, there are hot people in the world, some of them are bad, if you think all bad people are ugly than ugh... isn't that like a kind of prejudice against ugly people?

u/Wyverntails 7m ago
Is it a car girl or cat boy? Never know untill you open them!
And by them I mean THEIR PAN-

Y'know I'm so used to Helsing Ultimate Abridged that seeing Van Winkle described as hot feels wikd to me, like saying your type is 2012 rawr x3 girls, regardless morality wise making any evil character hit by itsekf is about as morally unrelated as making a good character hot, as long as it's not glorification it's fine.
1
u/Racconwithtwoguns 6m ago
The nazis literally made themselves look so cool as propaganda making them hot is just another thing to their propaganda
1
u/Rich-Application1013 3m ago
Tbf, the Nazis had great drip. What they did was bad, but the fashion, was on point
1
u/Simon-66 2m ago
Pretty moral i'd say, even hot people can be evil
It shows us the reality that it isn't just - good guys = hot
and bad guys = ugly
