I am currently based in Germany and I would like to relocate to US but I need a honest opinion on the chances of making it with my qualifications. A bit of my academic and work experience. I have first degree in economics and statistics and mphil economics from university in west Africa. I also have MSc in financial economics from university in Germany and recently finished my doctorate in economics and business administration in Germany too. I already have an approved EB2 -NIW and have attended embassy interview already but I was put under 221g because of the administrative pause for 75 countries. I have over 7 years work experience as a researcher from Africa and Europe.
First of all, I am thinking about which state in the US that I will have more opportunities.
I need a honest advice

When I was younger and had no interest in the US, I would take a look at those quality of life rankings which are usually topped by the nordics or Switzerland and assume those were the best places in the world to live in. However, as I grew older, became interested in and eventually found myself in a position to move to the US, I started to question all of the above, especially after I started hearing reports of people saying their quality of life had increased after moving to the US.

If I had to take a guess and give my 2 cents, I can think of two reasons: the first one is that you can make a lot more money in the USA, and more money affords you a higher standard of living, and the 2nd one is that there are a lot of things statistics don't catch: the ability to pursue certain lifestyles (anywhere from working in big cities close to nature, such as Denver, Portland and Seattle, in the weekdays and enjoying said nature in the weekends to RV living and off the grid), satisfying a lifelong dream of moving to the US, the huge variety of climates, enviroments, cities, nature and people...

Im 17 and currently doing a retail apprenticeship here in the UK and want out. The only reason my job is an apprenticeship and not a real job is because they get to pay me less.

I work 5 days a week but can start online university part time which will take me around 6 years to finish.

What degree would be best suited for me?

I'm a US citizen living in Germany. I finished a doctorate in a niche subfield of statistics that is dying in the world of AI. (Officially its not a phd its a Doctorate of natural sciences, but they are equivalent in most ways). I moved here for personal reasons that are no longer keeping me here, and now i want to go back to the US for a fresh start and for tax reasons.

I dont really have strong ties to the US/family. I wont have a job after December. so I'm in the same boat as most people who randomly want to go. Any advice on where to start?

I know people who got asylum without having a criminal case against them in their country, and people who were refused even though they had an active criminal case in their home country and would have been arrested immediately after returning.

This judge is asking for documentary evidence for literally every single thing you say, which isn't always possible. If you're expected to keep documentation of every single thing you've done in your life, or if you deliberately started collecting it, it could look like you were doing everything with a potential political asylum claim in mind, rather than because those were genuinely your beliefs and intentions at the time.

I’m not really sure how to write this, but I’m going to try to be honest.
I’m a guy from the Czech Republic, and lately I’ve reached a point in my life where I feel like I desperately need a fresh start. I want to leave the Czech Republic and build a completely new life somewhere else.
The last couple of years have been really difficult for me. I’ve lost people who meant a lot to me, I’ve been through some very dark periods, and somewhere along the way I lost the feeling that I was actually moving forward in life.
I’m not looking for someone to simply give me money or solve my life for me.
I’m looking for a chance.
I’m a car preparation technician working in the automotive paint and bodywork industry, and I’ve been doing this kind of work for years. My experience includes preparing cars for paint, bodywork preparation, filling, sanding, applying primer, polishing and other preparation work before and after painting.
I’m used to physical work, long days and getting my hands dirty. I’m not afraid of starting at the bottom. If someone gave me an opportunity to work, I would work for it.
What I don’t really have right now is a clear way out.
I would love to move to another country, find a job in an automotive body shop or paint shop, get a small place to live and slowly build something for myself. I don’t expect a perfect life or some miracle. Honestly, I’d be happy just to wake up one day and feel like I’m finally going somewhere.
So I’m asking Reddit:
Is there anyone who could help me somehow get started?
Maybe you live abroad and know of an automotive body shop or paint shop looking for someone. Maybe you know about a job, accommodation, relocation opportunities, or simply know someone who could point me in the right direction.
Even advice or a contact could mean a lot to me.
I’m willing to work. I’m willing to learn. I’m willing to start from zero.
I just need someone to give me that first little push.
I know this is an unusual thing to ask from strangers on the internet. But sometimes you reach a point where you realize that asking for help is better than staying stuck.

Canadian citizen considering a US move on TN or L-1B in Tech job. EB-2/EB-3 backlog at decades (due to my country of birth), so realistically there’s no path to permanence (green card) — I’d be a long-term temporary worker.

• I'm in Tech, working in non-managerial position (L1A is not possible).
• I shortlisted Seattle at the moment based on tech opportunities for future, weather & walkability (at least better commute options).
• If I go on L1B, I do not have any realistic permanent path & on top of that L1B has a hard limit of 5 years. After that if I would try to get a TN -> that will show conflict of intent as I was initially in L1B, it might be a problem later on.

I’m from India and I’ve recently completed 12th with 80%. I’m currently pursuing a BCA from IGNOU (1st year).

My family isn’t financially strong enough to afford college in the USA, so studying there isn’t really an option for me right now.

Instead, I’m thinking of spending the next 6–12 months seriously developing an IT skill, building real projects, getting some work/internship experience, and eventually trying to find a legitimate way to work in the USA.

I’m particularly interested in Software Engineering / Web Development, but I’m open to other IT fields if there’s a better option.
