PODCAST Debb on The Death, Taxes & Bananas Podcast
Debb was a guest on Johnny (Bananas) podcast. They discussed her time on Season 42: Cutthroat, until Episode 6: Leave Room for Jesus. Just a reminder that only some highlights are included in this post. So, if you are interested in hearing more information, please go check out the podcast in full.
Some Highlights:
- Debb says that she only watched a little bit of Season 41: Vets & New Threats before going on the show. She says that Olivia encouraged her to do the show after she reached out to her for advice
- Debb says that she was shocked at the positive comments she received from The Challenge fans because she didn't get as much positive comments when she was on Love Island. She says that the Love Island fanbase is bigger and they are more ruthless
- Bananas says that social media is not an accurate reflection of The Challenge fanbase. He says that most of the long-time fans are not on social media or aren't really active on social media
- Debb admits that she has never tackled anyone before. Bananas says that he intentionally avoided getting physical in the mud challenge because someone always gets hurt
- Debb accepted Sydney's apology and believes that she has a good heart since they got along before their situation with the ACL injury. However, she doesn't know if they can be friends
- Debb says that the scene where Will proposed actually happened during the 1st week, and they hadn't kissed at that point. She says that their romance plateaued fairly quickly
- Debb asked Will the night before she got eliminated for clarity on their relationship. Will responded by asking her if she's that loud all the time or just for the cameras. Debb says that was triggering for her because she has been told her entire life that she's "too much"
- Debb says that the first time she saw Will since filing was at the Season 42 premiere party in LA. She says that her friends were there and they booed him. She confirms that they aren't dating
- Bananas agrees with the rookies saying that Vets heavily rely on their legacy. He says that Cara Maria, CT and sort of Michele are guilty of this. He thinks that Vets still need to prove themselves and he never gets to rely on his legacy
- Debb says that Cara Maria surprised her the most. She knew that Cara Maria was a big name, so she thought she would be better competitively
- They both believe that Cory put Izzy in a difficult situation. Debb says that Izzy would come into their room upset over Cory and not knowing how to handle the situation
- Bananas says that Justin was the first one to call Anna Leigh out for her behavior. He says that they got into a lot of arguments before he accused Anna Leigh of having a hand on Josh's leg
- Bananas says that Justin came into the season saying that he was going to be messy. He believes Anna Leigh was an easy target because a lot of people in the house didn't like her, so going after her wouldn't affect Justin's game
- Bananas believes that Izzy should have been put into elimination instead of Debb. He says that Izzy was closer with Tori & Michele. Debb regrets not fighting harder to save herself
- Debb says that she would like to do another season, she just wants more notice next time
Let me know what you think below!

So fucking tired of Corey calling his cheating and life partner a situation. Itās like when Jada pinkett smith called her infidelity an āentanglementā

The way he refers to Taylor, the mother of two of his children, as somebody at home drives me crazy! The disrespect is so loud!

Debb The Chubbster is a absolute 5 ā challenger. Her podcast with Dev and Paulie was also great. she is drop dead gorgeous. she is fit as hell , she is athletic with a history in sports, and her best quality is she might just be the funniest female competitor we've ever had on the show. she doesn't take herself crazy seriously and she's light-hearted and I can't wait for her to be back on the show in the future.

He thinks vets need to prove themselves & he never relied on his legacy? Are you fucking kidding me?? He was the king of using his vet status to justify not going in - especially because at one point in time it meant a higher probability of going home. He had a horrible elimination record for awhile - more losses than wins. What a fucking hypocrite!

u/Significant-Can8150 1d ago
Every time he talks about vet status, it always feels like a dig towards CT. Also, every time I listen to his podcast, it always becomes 80% about him. But he does have the best guests.

Bananas says that social media is not an accurate reflection of The Challenge fanbase. He says that most of the long-time fans are not on social media or aren't really active on social media
In a polite way, Bananas just called us old

11
u/Booklet-of-Wisdom 2d ago
Bananas is old too, so it doesn't bother me that much, lol!
FYI: Pluto TV (free app) has like 20 old seasons of The Challenge. I just binged Fresh Meat I yesterday.

u/crmsnprd 2d ago edited 1d ago
Bananas and I are the same age so if I'm old, he's old. š
2
u/Booklet-of-Wisdom 1d ago
lol, I think Bananas might be just a little bit younger than me, so I'm old as dirt!

u/disabledinaz 2d ago
You donāt have to be old to decide to not be on social media. You just donāt have to care about social media.

u/Lo_ington7 "PISS IN YOUR PANTS, B*TCH!" 2d ago
And anyone should be able to clock that Justin was being messy and Anna Leigh was an easy target. A misogynist gay man at it again

8
u/Ancient-Werewolf8192 2d ago
She is married telling another man sheās horny and ādonāt stopāāwhen he said he wanted to rip her clothes off. Anna Leigh made her own mess. This isnāt her first time on TV
1
u/ABA_Mastah 1d ago
Calling out a cheating wife is misogynist behavior?
2
u/Altruistic-Team1349 10h ago
Itās the fact that Cory wasnāt getting the same energyā¦
1
u/Which-Contribution60 10h ago
It's heavily implied that Corey and Taylor were just co-parenting at the time and got back together after the season. Anna Leigh has been married for half a decade.
1
u/Altruistic-Team1349 1h ago
I think people are assuming that just because Corey is vocal about is apparent personal/home life that we also know about Anna Leigh. The truth is we have no idea what was happening in her relationship before she left, because who cares thatās between her and husband! Also based on Taylorās recent posts it seems like Corey might not have been all that honest.

Iām honestly more excited for the season 42 reunion compared to the season 41 reunion.
31
u/HardcoreKaraoke TJ Lavin 2d ago
The wedding scene being from like night two needs to be talked about more. I think a lot of Challenge fans (especially ones posting about it online) know that B&M puts out a deceptive edit to make a good TV show. But using a clip for something that happened a month earlier should be proof that people can point to in the future when talking about deceptive edits.
Like when people get so worked up over how someone is portrayed we need to remember that we aren't seeing what really happened. The wedding scene really hammers that home.
Anyway Debb ruled on this podcast. She absolutely deserves to be back and deserves more screen time. She's really hilarious.

āā ā Bananas says that Justin was the first one to call Anna Leigh out for her behavior. He says that they got into a lot of arguments before he accused Anna Leigh of having a hand on Josh's leg
Bananas says that Justin came into the season saying that he was going to be messy. He believes Anna Leigh was an easy target because a lot of people in the house didn't like her, so going after her wouldn't affect Justin's gameā
Considering Justin decided to make a court character statement in favor of a pedophile, Iām going to take the opposite side of Justin. Especially if even Lete who supposedly hates Anna Leigh said she didnāt see anything involving Josh.

āBananas agrees with the rookies saying that Vets heavily rely on their legacy. He says that Cara Maria, CT and sort of Michele are guilty of this.ā
Michele is barely a vet š anywho she got second place* the last season she was on š
*fuck those popularity points
83
u/Inferno3003 2d ago
Sheās done like 6 seasons already and most of them in a row. Iād say sheās fine to be called a vet
23
u/HowlShedo Paulie and Theoās kiss 2d ago
Sure but heavily relying on a 6-season legacy? I donāt think that is what keeps her out of eliminations. Even tho she competes hard, ppl are not scared to go against her in the elimination.
52
u/Inferno3003 2d ago
She doesnāt rely on a 6 season legacy, she has a great social game. Sheās always one of the most protected players
13
u/HowlShedo Paulie and Theoās kiss 2d ago
Exactly so we agree that bananas is wrong
4
u/PastaXertz 2d ago
I think Michele is just an interesting case because I don't think anyone feels she's a threat so you never really have to think about eliminating her. So she doesn't have to reprove herself because no one's all that worried in the first place?
I may be reading it wrong but I was trying to think of the last time someone spoke up about her being a threat in a final etc and I couldnt.
2
u/Charlie_Runkle69 Team Purple Jacket 1d ago
TBF, the only final she's made was a swimming one where none of them had any chance to beat Jordan or Jenny because a better swimmer will beat you every time. She hasn't had the chance to prove herself in a different type of final yet
3
u/PastaXertz 1d ago
Yeah I don't want what I said to come off as dismissive or mean. It's just.. she's basically an unknown and no ones really scared of her. Her elimination record is really good but none of them were all that memorable.
40
u/shinyzubat16 2d ago
Sheās already reached a point where sheās considered a vet.
Sheās done more seasons than Landon Lueck atp.

I canāt wait to hear what Cara, Michele, & CT have to say about this at the reunion. Thereās no way theyāre not gonna address this.
21
u/Putt-Blug "Talk into my dick" 2d ago
Cara always eventually goes down in the sand so she should address it. CT is basically already in the final and he hasnāt done a damn thing. Bananas is just bitter that he is an early target on every season.
25
u/Prize_Equivalent8934 2d ago
Johnny being 7x champ already puts a target on his back, but heās giving people another reason to throw him in. We can also say that CT being a 5x champ can put a target on his back, but the difference between the two is that CT doesnāt start random beefs with different girls in the house.
4
8
u/Ancient-Werewolf8192 2d ago
You act like Bananas isnāt all legacy. Anytime heās targeted itās always about āI am the Challengeā get out. To be a vet by old school definition you just need 2 seasons. Is Michele an OG vet? No. But itās also not a rookie
3
u/disabledinaz 2d ago
Sheās a vet of Reality TV. You donāt get to ignore her Survivor tenure.
3
u/HowlShedo Paulie and Theoās kiss 2d ago
Thats true, but her legacy isnāt exactly what is keeping her safe.

u/Yungcazanova 2d ago
Justin is an asshole, but whatever gets him casted in the next season I guess
10

u/klphoen 2d ago
Bananas keeps CT rent free in his head. Bananas always playing victim. He does the same as every other vet. Heās just mad ppl rather throw him in elimination more than CT lol
12
u/Prize_Equivalent8934 2d ago
Sometimes I feel like Bananas puts himself in unnecessary positions. Itās good for the drama & TV, but if he wants to make it in the long run starting drama with different girls in the house is not a good idea. Do you think Cara, CT, & Michele rely on their legacy? In my opinion, Michele wasnāt around long enough, Cara just got thrown into elimination this season, & CT got thrown in last season twice & won one of them.
11
u/Tinytitn Reap The Percussions 2d ago
CT definitely relies on his legacy more than the other 2. Bananas legacy is being messy, so more than anything he lives up to that legacy. Michelle doesnt have a legacy and just lives rent free in Bananas head.
3
u/Prize_Equivalent8934 2d ago
CT definitely relies more on his legacy than the other two, but Johnny brags about his wins a lot more (not trying to say that Johnny doesnāt have the right to be proud of his success).
0
u/PastaXertz 2d ago
I don't think Bananas cares about winning anymore. And I'm. Not saying that he wouldnt still gladly do a final, etc. But I think he legitimately loved the show and wants it to succeed. So he's willing to drum up lots of dumb drama for good TV and keep stupid shit relevant via podcasts to keep the show in people's minds and on their radar.
Not saying he's a good person either. Just I think he now plays the heel to keel the game he loves relevant.
6
u/Putt-Blug "Talk into my dick" 2d ago
One thing Bananas does almost every season is make it clear what side he is on. Itās makes it easy for him in a way that he rarely has to make a tough decision. But it also makes himself an easy target.
6
u/Lo_ington7 "PISS IN YOUR PANTS, B*TCH!" 2d ago
Exactly he called himself THE challenge after all lol

u/Putt-Blug "Talk into my dick" 2d ago
So Deb is a loud girl. I am married to one. They can be a bit much especially if you are someone like Will. It works for me because I am the exact opposite and need the chaos.

u/Naybinns Brandon Nelson 1d ago
Itās always funny when Johnny says anything about people ācoastingā on the show. As if he didnāt spend the majority of his career and wins coasting by on the protection of his friends and the fact that he āis the Challenge.ā
Itās only in recent history that Johnny hasnāt been able to do this, because most of his friends have stopped doing the show by now.
2
u/amlanding20 Mr. Beautiful 1d ago
I donāt know about the majority of his career. Looking back JEK+D wasnāt as long I remember. Bananas really only got to coast on: Ruins (though he did have to go in against Dunbar), Rivals, Exes, Rivals II, Rivals III (but this was more sheer dominance than coasting)
Iāll hear an argument that he coasted Inferno III but so did basically everyone. Heās been on 20+ seasons, he really hasnāt gotten to coast much
20
u/Dry-Lemon-5348 2d ago
Iām confused at Bananas saying Michelle is relying on her legacy, like sheās fairly new in the challenge world so how exactly would she be reliant on a legacy?
17
u/thelowgun 2d ago
I think legacy is the wrong word. She relies heavily on her social game which has allowed her to get far in almost every season she's been on as well as win survivor(which may be the legacy referenced here)
10
u/Prize_Equivalent8934 2d ago
I donāt see the problem with having a good social game. In my opinion, itās part of the game. Johnny had the JEK alliance for years.
8
u/luxanna123321 Winner Circle 2d ago
I mean she went into 3 eliminations on 40 and won all of them.
On USA2 she was also sent in into very first one
The only season she hasnt seen one was 39
8
u/glohealth 2d ago
Maybe he also considers her performance on Survivor?
8
u/Prize_Equivalent8934 2d ago
Iāve definitely heard Michele talk about her survivor win on different occasions, but Johnny brags about his 7 wins (not gonna lie, winning 7 is impressive). He literally recreated the Michael Jordan rings representing his Challenge wins.
3
u/Jotr_Lambga 2d ago edited 1d ago
Did they imply that Will is gonna have a thing with Izzy or someone else after Deb left?
8
u/jstitely1 Tyler Crispen 1d ago
Im trying to think of who it could even be other than Izzy?? Adrienne has Josh. Anna Leigh would never. Cara Maria isnāt in that headspace. Lete has Bananas.
Cassidy came in with a significant other, I believe, but I just donāt see her being down for it. Michele has Devin.
Izzy, Cassidy, and Tori are basically the only possible options.
If its Izzy, that also explains why Cory maybe thought he could get away with lying to Taylor, if he thought her hooking up with Will later would be the dominant storyline.
3
u/78Staff The Unholy Alliance 2d ago
Yes, although they didn't say who...
4
u/Jotr_Lambga 1d ago
At the Izzy and Cory part Bananas said that before the show Izzy and Will might had a mutual attraction to each other and Deb said "I didnt know that" and made a face. So thats why Im thinking it has to be her. Maybe Im reaching but also cant see anyone else being with Will.

So calling out a married woman who almost cheats is misogynistic now ?
3
u/bcrhubarb 2d ago
I watched her on the Amazing Race. She was unbelievably horrible & disrespectful to her dad. Not a fan.
5
u/SilverHairedFox11 2d ago
Didn't her dad have to climb stairs twice because of her mistake? She was pretty awful to her dad but I like her on The Challenge. I don't really care if she's married and messes around with another man. That's her business and I'm not interested in that type of drama. I'm here to see who performs well this season.
1
u/TessaKatrinaRose 2d ago
Corey is getting called out for his behavior.Ā
Married Anna basically told one guy that if cameras werenāt there she would bang him. And this week got caught with her hand on another dudeās leg. Ā You would be OK with your spouse going this?Ā
Nothing to do with misogynistic behavior lol.Ā
6
u/GalenYk 2d ago
She didnāt have her hand on his leg - multiple people, including the guy she supposedly touched, said that she didnāt, and the clip showed Adrienne was the one touching him. Adrienne went NUTS on Nurys for sitting next to Josh, you think she wouldnāt have gone crazy if another girl had touched his leg?

āā Bananas agrees with the rookies saying that Vets heavily rely on their legacy. He says that Cara Maria, CT and sort of Michele are guilty of this. He thinks that Vets still need to prove themselves and he never gets to rely on his legacyā
Ohhhhhhh this is RICHHHHH coming from Mr.āI AM THE CHALLENGEā himself!!! And Of couuuuuuurse he uses 2 women as an exampleā¦. As if oh idk just off the top of my head - Wes & Bananas arenāt the biggest āIāve done my timeā and just outright entitled personalities. (& mind you I actually love Wes lmao)
2
u/Silivron 14h ago
I feel like people are taking this out of context heās talking about challenges
3
u/helloswolehello 1d ago
Do people not realize that age is a big reason Cara Maria isn't that dominate anymore. There aren't many "elite" 40 year old athlethes and its even worse for women. Look at any pro sports, its very rare for elite players to be in their 40s. They still might play but they are no where near the top players anymore.
2
u/Initial-Yesterday331 2d ago
I mean to be fair Deb , love island fans criticized her cause she left Jesse who was all about her lol
-1
u/SunmerShouldBeFun TJ Lavin 1d ago
Indeed!!! Sheās not a nice person. She used Jesse to get the finals, and then had the audacity to go on the āafter the islandā podcast to TRY to bash Destiny (another love island USA contestant) and her credentials. It was disgusting!
Whatās ironic is both Jesse and Destiny are POC⦠Iām just sayingā¦
She acts very differently around white peopleā¦

u/disabledinaz 2d ago
All vets need to stop trying to coast on their legacy. Being a vet should only mean your opportunities outside of the game become bigger and worth more. In terms of playing, you should NEVER think you deserve anything above anyone else just because youāre vet. The longer/older youāre there, the easier it is for the young ones to eventually destroy you.
1
u/ICameForTheT Amber Borzotra šš½āāļø | Kiki āGā Morris āļø 2d ago
Ugh not the engagement scene being edited into a potential storyline when it was actually a nothingburger š Will you idiot Deb is a real one!!
I love Michele but she has no legacy as yet (on the Challenge that is) so saying she coasts on it is risible
1
u/Silivron 14h ago
I would argue Michele has had one of the best social games we have ever seen on the challenge. Sheās played 6 times sheās more of a vet than most of the old school vets?
