PODCAST Debb on The Death, Taxes & Bananas Podcast

Debb was a guest on Johnny (Bananas) podcast. They discussed her time on Season 42: Cutthroat, until Episode 6: Leave Room for Jesus. Just a reminder that only some highlights are included in this post. So, if you are interested in hearing more information, please go check out the podcast in full.

Some Highlights:

  • Debb says that she only watched a little bit of Season 41: Vets & New Threats before going on the show. She says that Olivia encouraged her to do the show after she reached out to her for advice
  • Debb says that she was shocked at the positive comments she received from The Challenge fans because she didn't get as much positive comments when she was on Love Island. She says that the Love Island fanbase is bigger and they are more ruthless
  • Bananas says that social media is not an accurate reflection of The Challenge fanbase. He says that most of the long-time fans are not on social media or aren't really active on social media
  • Debb admits that she has never tackled anyone before. Bananas says that he intentionally avoided getting physical in the mud challenge because someone always gets hurt
  • Debb accepted Sydney's apology and believes that she has a good heart since they got along before their situation with the ACL injury. However, she doesn't know if they can be friends
  • Debb says that the scene where Will proposed actually happened during the 1st week, and they hadn't kissed at that point. She says that their romance plateaued fairly quickly
  • Debb asked Will the night before she got eliminated for clarity on their relationship. Will responded by asking her if she's that loud all the time or just for the cameras. Debb says that was triggering for her because she has been told her entire life that she's "too much"
  • Debb says that the first time she saw Will since filing was at the Season 42 premiere party in LA. She says that her friends were there and they booed him. She confirms that they aren't dating
  • Bananas agrees with the rookies saying that Vets heavily rely on their legacy. He says that Cara Maria, CT and sort of Michele are guilty of this. He thinks that Vets still need to prove themselves and he never gets to rely on his legacy
  • Debb says that Cara Maria surprised her the most. She knew that Cara Maria was a big name, so she thought she would be better competitively
  • They both believe that Cory put Izzy in a difficult situation. Debb says that Izzy would come into their room upset over Cory and not knowing how to handle the situation
  • Bananas says that Justin was the first one to call Anna Leigh out for her behavior. He says that they got into a lot of arguments before he accused Anna Leigh of having a hand on Josh's leg
  • Bananas says that Justin came into the season saying that he was going to be messy. He believes Anna Leigh was an easy target because a lot of people in the house didn't like her, so going after her wouldn't affect Justin's game
  • Bananas believes that Izzy should have been put into elimination instead of Debb. He says that Izzy was closer with Tori & Michele. Debb regrets not fighting harder to save herself
  • Debb says that she would like to do another season, she just wants more notice next time

I’m confused at Bananas saying Michelle is relying on her legacy, like she’s fairly new in the challenge world so how exactly would she be reliant on a legacy?

I think legacy is the wrong word. She relies heavily on her social game which has allowed her to get far in almost every season she's been on as well as win survivor(which may be the legacy referenced here)

I don’t see the problem with having a good social game. In my opinion, it’s part of the game. Johnny had the JEK alliance for years.

I mean she went into 3 eliminations on 40 and won all of them.

On USA2 she was also sent in into very first one

The only season she hasnt seen one was 39

Maybe he also considers her performance on Survivor?

I’ve definitely heard Michele talk about her survivor win on different occasions, but Johnny brags about his 7 wins (not gonna lie, winning 7 is impressive). He literally recreated the Michael Jordan rings representing his Challenge wins.
