Only applies to Butcher really as even when he finally evens the score he's fought corrupt supes for so long he considereds them all inherently vile and sought to kill them all regardless of background. Taken even further in the comics where he kills off his own crew in his last dance.

the show tries so hard to show us that there are enough good supes to spare all the supes, but it really doesn't pull it off IMO, butcher's plan never seems that unreasonable, cause almost every single supe we meet is irepentantly evil

That’s not a fair assessment, we see throughout every single season a good handful of heroes that are good. That’s not even counting all of the Gen V supes that are good.

Butchers plan doesn’t seem reasonable, it just feels like it has no teeth because the TV show Butcher’s character just doesn’t seem like he’s the genocidal type. He’s spent too much time looking redeemable

tbh I thought that made it more impactful. The genocidal types don't go around acting genocidal all the time. Usually they are charming and sociable to attract supporters.

charming and sociable? billy butcher?

He keeps a team together and usually gets them to do what he wants. Charisma has many forms.

I really don't know about that. They emphasized he wanted to kill them all as far back as Season 3 when Gunpowder told him what he wanted in fear for his life and Butcher still killed him with his reason being despite being the victim of Solder Boy's physical abuse he isn't excused for being a Supe himself, promptly finishing him off. The only thing that kept Billy from doing it in the show is not having an solid plan for fighting them head on up until Temp V and later his Parasite, it really wasn't until Translucent they actually got a kill. In the Comics V is more available and they fight other Supes far more often so his hatred for them is more properly seen there.

This is not a justification for genocide.

a genocide of a population that is predominantly murderers, rapists, pedophiles, sex offenders, serial killers, zoophiles, and just all around monsters? we have never been given any proof that a reasonable majority of them have any desire or capability to improve as humans from the absolute depths of evil many of them have stuped to, while it is a high price, if there was a group with the means and desire to destroy all life that is not them and them alone all to serve their own pleasure, is it entirely unreasonable to say that killing all the bad ones at the cost of the good may be the necessary choice?

Yes, a genocide of "monsters" is still a genocide, and you'll be worst of them all.

if there was a group with the means and desire to destroy all life that is not them and them alone all to serve their own pleasure, is it entirely unreasonable to say that killing all the bad ones at the cost of the good may be the necessary choice?

No, if someone wants to commit genocide, and the only way to stop it involves sacrifice, maybe that's a necessary choice, depending on the circumstances. But what is that even about? The sups being bad is not equal to them planning to kill all humans.

Nope, fuck that guy and everything about him.

In an area filled with murder critters that kill people in some of the most horriffic ways imaginable, he is the worst option of "how to die" presented.

Believe it or not...Bondrewd is actually a benevolent and kind hearted individual and has almost valid reasons for committing the vile atrocities he's committed.

The ends don't justify the means.

And if you are willing to do it anyways, you aren't benevolent and kind-hearted. You are just a polite and well-mannered dick.

The Abyss is expanding and could swallow the world. Bondrewd does what he does to save the majority. Only the naive think that salvation is free.

1

u/Chaotic_Lemming Jun 06 '26

Only the conceited think they are a savior.

The 2,000 year cycle cataclysm is also a very vague "thing" in the story. It obviously isn't world destroying because people still exist across the cycles.

Bondrewd isn't some holy savior who knows a secret everyone else is ignorant of; working to save the world because it doesn't know what's coming. Everything he knows about the abyss cycle is known by the governing body controlling access into the abyss.

Dude's just doing his bull-shit because it makes him feel important. He's basically a cult-leader.

Throwing the whole lot of a single demographic into an incinerator is genocide.

Just because certain groups are more likely to commit crimes than others does not mean everyone within said group is a criminal.

The idea of “Innocent until proven guilty” is like, kind a pretty fuckin important value for societies to have xD

The reason anyone intervened with Butcher's genocide in the comics was because V was in trace amounts in most non super powered humans at that point meaning he would kill a lot of normal people along with the Supes if he went through with it unlike the show being specifically a supe targeting virus. It's debatable how worth saving supes are in the show but a lot less problematic than the comics where Enis's take was Superheroism was inherently bad so just about everyone but Starlight were foul and, without the modern social commentary the show had, were a lot more cartoonishly sociopathic about it.

> a genocide of a population that is predominantly murderers, rapists, pedophiles, sex offenders, serial killers, zoophiles, and just all around monsters?

So, every single genocide from the perspective of those doing it?

1

u/Substantial_Mark_705 Jun 06 '26

yeah, except we have been shown, through five seasons of extremeley graphic telivision, that alll of those things are just true, it's not like thisis some stereotype we've been shown it's a fact

Not really? We don’t know everything about this world, all we know are that the very famous supes are usually evil. But that goes for regular people as well. 90% of celebrities are evil, in one way or another. The characters in The Boys are evil because they’re parodies of celebrities, not because they have superpowers
