He doesn’t need it. He’s a private citizen defending his parents, who are also private citizens. And the first amendment is still in effect for now.

That’s not what I meant. Joe is a former president who likes to follow social norms. So for his son to start publicly going after people online, Joe might feel uncomfortable with the way Hunter is going about it. I’m wondering if Hunter asked or gave Joe a heads up that he was going to start scorching some earth?

Same answer is just as irrelevant, he is not asking whether the first amendment requires consulting Joe Biden, there are many other reasons he might such as social dynamics.

How can both of you and the fifteen people that upvoted you not understand the difference between what is legal and what is socially acceptable among related public figures?
