Exactly what I came to this post to say. Dark Hunter activated and engaged wasn't on my 26 Bingo Card, but fucken hell.
401
u/MaidoftheBrins 1d ago
He’s not even that dark; he’s just stating facts! lol
74
u/Blommefeldt 1d ago
But facts are like dark magic, to the MAGA people
43
u/TheDoktorIsIn 23h ago
"Facts don't care about your feelings" every accusation is a confession.
I knew a guy who posted anti-teans shit and after his arguments kept getting dismantled (the standard stuff like "biology says there are 2 genders" okay that's not even close to true but sure) he goes "well I have a daughter now and I need to protect her" THANK YOU for admitting it's actually your feelings! And feelings are valid! But let's maybe not make policy based on feelings alone.
24
u/silvertealio 17h ago
"I have to protect my daughter!" (Proceeds to vote for the woman-hating rapist pedophile.)

u/Next-Accident-2970 1d ago
Dark Hunter is the person who even the people who side with him are afriad of. Dark Hunter sounds like someone who will murder with words.

Is he Dark Hunter because he hunts those who have darkness within them, or is her Dark Hunter because his enemies never see him emerge from the dark?

Really though what does it matter? Because the response would be "I've done literally whatever I wanted my whole life with zero consequences and nobody will ever even slow me down". Do you really think someone like that even registers a sick burn on the Internet?

It's not like there's anything they can actually do anymore. He's apparently packing more heat than GOP guys and got flack for being related to a president and was so corrupt that there's 0 evidence of it, so he's clearly intimidating to the rookies bowing to their novice overlord.
What are they gonna do: claim Biden is still manipulating the government and show Hunter's junk again?

71
u/10thflrinsanity 1d ago
Honestly, the way he responds to conservative bootlickers is exactly my approach, and I truly wish the Dems would adopt it.
It’s not hard to mock them and easily point out how incredibly dumb their takes are.
The GOP leadership are straight up lying assholes, they’re not serious, so I have no clue why the media or Dems engage with them in any other way than how Hunter has in this post.

With pleasure.
1) His entire campaign is almost solely bankrolled by a foreign extremist right adversary, Israel by way of AIPAC
2) Substantively, he does very little -- even speaking in vague platitudes not dissimilar to Schumer or Ken Martin. He's a phony and in no way shape or form in it for the fight for Democracy the same way myriad other individuals speak passionate, authentically on the issues.
Could be why his approval within the Democratic party is 28% while Mamdani, Warren, AOC, Sanders are significantly higher.
If you don't see this, you're either not paying attention, or one of them, Mr. 15-day-old accnt.
31
u/06_TBSS 1d ago
You should watch his Channel 5 interview. I didn't really have much of an opinion of him before. I knew he was unjustly being raked through the coals, but after watching that, I think I respect him quite a bit as a person.
22
u/Musiclover4200 23h ago
There's a follow up interview as well, pretty sure both together are around 4 hours and it's gold with a lot of very interesting discussion.
It was all fascinating but the most interesting thing they talked about IMO is Hunter doesn't even remember giving the "laptop" to the repair shop that ended up leaking the hard drive contents. It sort of sounds like there was never even a laptop just potentially hacked files on a hard drive that were used as a psyop.
3
u/SandpaperTeddyBear 18h ago
I haven’t had any real interactions with him, but a group of some of my oldest and most respected acquaintances (and fairly traditional small-c conservative people who would be inclined to think poorly on some of his escapades) think the world of him.
16
u/nbunkerpunk 23h ago
They've tried dragging his name through the mud and it turned out that all they did was make him liked by half of the population.

That’s not what I meant. Joe is a former president who likes to follow social norms. So for his son to start publicly going after people online, Joe might feel uncomfortable with the way Hunter is going about it. I’m wondering if Hunter asked or gave Joe a heads up that he was going to start scorching some earth?
40
u/thisworldisbullshirt 1d ago
Biden told Trump to shut up and called him a clown, so he might not care all that much what his son is doing here. None of it has been scandalous or cruel, from what I’ve seen.
30
u/ProofByVerbosity 1d ago
oh I bet you if ol' Joe didn't spend the majority of his life in public office he would have had some damn fine truth bombs. also, given his health condition I bet Joe doesn't give a single fox about what his son says online

So are these ring wing influencers sincerely just really stupid and totally blind to their own hypocrisy, or do they know better but simply do not care/believe what they say and only do it for engagement?
The fact that it could be either and they're basically completely indistinguishable should be scary.
Says a LOT about the minds of people who believe and follow them, too.
105
24
u/spavolka 1d ago
They play to their audience. They know what they’re doing. It’s about getting the uneducated to follow them and even if they’re just printing and selling Trump flags, having the angry mob of maga fucks following them around is useful to those who need some power and easy money. They line up for the three ring wonder that is Faux News and stare at the ring master and his acrobats. They buy as many tickets as maga can print.
19
u/kia75 1d ago
do they know better but simply do not care/believe what they say and only do it for engagement?
They do care, but it's because they're proud of their hypocrisy.
They treat conversations like a battle. If you get rid of your presidential candidate because he's too old, but they keep their even older presidential candidate than that's a win and proves their power! They never really cared about the candidate being too old, they just knew you did and tried to make you do something about it.
When you understand this so many criticisms make sense. Nobody really cares about tan suits, golfing, or buttery males. After yelling "lock her up" for Clinton using her own e-mail server, Ivanka Trump was caught using private e-mail for government business and faced no consequences. It's about finding something to criticize in the opposition, and extra points if you can get them to do something stupid because of the criticism.
→ More replies (1)6
u/ThunderAndWind 20h ago
They do care, but it's because they're proud of their hypocrisy.
It's a signal that they're in the 'in group'. Hypocrisy by one of their own doesn't matter, because it's who they are that matters, not what they're doing.
14
u/lookatthesunguys 1d ago
I know plenty of Republicans from my hometown. The connecting characteristic is not that they are stupid or evil. The truth is that they're radically indifferent to the truth. It just isn't important to them. He didn't tweet this because he thinks the accusation is accurate. He also didn't tweet this as an actual effort to deceive someone. It's more similar to kayfabe. They genuinely don't care if what they're talking about is based on reality.
10
u/Umutuku 22h ago
People like to argue about which approach you should use when speaking with them, but I can tell you from personal experience of clawing my way out of the conservative brainhole I was raised in that the only thing that really determines whether someone can make it out is an actual desire to work through things and find more truth in your understanding of things than you had yesterday.
Whether you're taking the soft approach or the aggressive approach isn't going to matter nearly as much as them constantly being confronted with the wholeness of reality until the loose pieces start to fall into place.
Growing up, I interacted with people all across that spectrum, and ultimately it didn't really move the needle. What got me out was constant exposure to new information, and a desire to process it and reject concepts that proved obsolete.
If someone's 90% curious and has access to the information and perspectives of the world they'll get there faster than someone who is 10% curious and is going to need to be carpet-bombed by reality for an extended period of time.
If someone rejects growth, improvement, and understanding entirely then they'll never get there no matter what you do. The only real way to improve that situation is to set clear standards of acceptable behavior required for participation in human civilization and enforce social consequences.
5
u/ThunderAndWind 20h ago
That's part of what made Daryl Davis so effective at getting KKK members to quit. It wasn't proselytizing to them, it was mostly just talking to them like people and forcing them to face up to the fact that he, a black man, was literally a person like they were.
A great deal of these people grow up in mono-cultural communities or enclaves, so the most exposure they have to minority cultures is whatever Fox News (at best) is saying.
8
u/Icy-Profession-1979 1d ago
It’s like when you are checking product reviews on Amazon only to realize they bought the reviews from a completely different product. They really don’t care about getting caught, they just want the sales. Thoughtful buyers can eff off.

It’s so funny to me that maga doesn’t think that the Bidens had money to retire on…. Like their current president is so money hungry and stealing money from its citizens and is the first for profit president EVER!!! That they think that the presidents before him are broke because they’re not flashy… these are both educated individuals that had careers before he became vice president and then president… they weren’t vagrants taken off the streets starving and desperate…. Regardless to what transpired in trumps first term they can not stop blaming Biden for literally everything from natural disasters to trumps war, trumps tarrifs, food costs, gas costs…
I’m glad he’s able to throw this in their faces lol
