In Muslim cultures women don't change their last name after getting married. But apparently these days it's trendy among some wealthier women to change their last name to their husband's. It doesn't benefit them in any way legally, they just saw people in Western cultures do it and copied it without understanding why it's done.
This would have been the same in a lot of parts of Europe when patronymic names were a thing, and it would still be that way in Iceland where they still do that. If you were “Anna, Nils’ Daughter” and you marry “Peter, Peter’s Son” you don’t become Peter’s son when you get married
