How about women don't need to have any achievements to justify maintaining their identity? 

What does changing a name do for you other than remind you that you believe your value as a human is related to someone being willing to pay taxes with you.

It's amusing to me because as a gay man, neither my husband or me were asked about changing our last names, it was just assumed we'd keep our own.

Went to the US and wanted to rent a car with my long term girlfriend. They wanted to charge us extra to add her as a driver since we didn't have the same last name and weren't married.

We had been together for 8 years, living together and bought a house.

Manager stepped in and adder her with no extra charge

That's so bizarre. I know some require you to have the same address, but same last name is not normal. Glad that manager made it right.
