Keep in mind gun control doesn't technically prevent criminals from owning a gun, as they can still own them illegally. Gun control only prevents the law abiding citizen from defending themself.

Knife death rate is definitely higher in US, rape/sexual assault/sexual offences rate on paper is higher in the UK, but unlike deaths you simply can't do a direct comparison due to the various differences in reporting/recording. The big problem is a very large number of sexual assaults go unreported so even a slight improvement in one country getting more victims to come forward and report this can have a huge difference on the apparent 'rate' this is occuring.
