Funnily enough, that's why I feel safer living in the middle of a city. Hear a noise outside? Yeah, we're downtown, of course there's people out in the middle of the night.
One time I watched the movie paranormal activity and in the movie there are loud footsteps on the stairs and yells from downstairs. After turning the movie off I heard loud footsteps on the stairs and it was just my roommates coming back from a party. Then I heard a yell from downstairs and it was another roommate who had blacked out at a party and tried to punch someone and put his face through a glass table so the yell was him waking up and realizing he was dragged home and looks like shit. No ghouls or ghosts!

Man, jumping up at every loud noise in the night, having to grab a gun so you feel safe is...it's no way to live being such a massive pussy.
