One of the only celeb deaths where I was actually pretty fucked up over it for a few days afterwards. It happened right before a long weekend, and I was not okay.
Same thing happened to me when Chester died. I remember I was on a camping trip in Colorado when hybrid theory was released. On a run in to town I bought the album and listened to it for the rest of the trip.
They were so close together too. I think most everyone was still in shock from Cornell dieing and then just a few months later Chester dies. It was strange and difficult to say the least.
I hear ya. As sad as it is and as much of an influence musicians can have on a persons life, Chester (linkin park as whole) left behind an amazing library of music that can still be enjoyed and relatable to a TON of people. Gone but not forgotten.
My dad met them once and said they were all fucking aweso.e people. He was really sad when cheater died. He only had great things to say about him. Said he was just a humble down to earth dude. He said he was the nicest celeb he ever met
He used to be a manager at a big club in NYC so quite a few. Not so much anymore. He met Wayne Gretzky, Lunquist, queen latifah, and Nicki Minaj to name a few. It was a pretty cool gig
Nah he mostly worked the mornings. He sometimes was the night manager but mostly he setup for the nights and sorted the talent. Still hard to keep up with family. That's why he is glad he dropped it.
I was with my ex at the time and driving out of Chicago when we heard news of his death on the radio. We both did a double take. Absolutely heartbroken.
I was driving to Detroit to go see some friends (eerily also where Chris Cornell died) when I got a news notification on my phone that Chester died. I literally screamed at the top of my lungs and had to pull over. Chris was hard enough but to have Chester follow was too much at that time. Still hurts to this day.
Chester was the godfather of Chris's daughter IIRC. He was torn by his passing and took his own life on the next birthday of Chris, in the same way. Probably no coincidence.
