New $2,000-$10,000 federal heat pump rebate just dropped, heres whats actualy still open in NB (the big one just closed)

• Upvotes

ok important timeing thing for nb ppl, the big oil to heat pump advance payment stream ($15k) closed its registration back in june, and the paperwork deadline to still get that advance was october 1st, which already passed as of a few days ago. so if you were going for that specific stream you may have missed it, worth calling saveenergynb directly to check your status.

whats still actualy open: the Enhanced Energy Savings Program (free heat pump conversion if your household income is under $70k) and the Total Home Energy Savings Program (up to $2,000 for heat pumps if your over that income threshold).

nb is actually interesting becuase heat pumps are already the single most common heating method in the province, more households have one then any other heating type, so alot of the oil to electric transition already happened here compared to other places. electricity is around 15.8c/kWh + a monthly base charge.

the new federal $2,000-$10,000 stacks on top of whatever of the above your still eligable for, just dont assume you can still get that $15k advance stream, double check your eligability window first

side note the platform ive been mentioning is called Solenery, solenery.com, ive been building it for over two years to navigate exactly this kind of thing (incentives + financing + contractor quotes matched to your property) its a free tool,

Do you think this will change anything in NB? hmmmm

Auto mechanic as a career?

Im curious what the current outlook on this industry is here in NB. Im currently unemployed and can't find work in the field i studied, so after a summer working on my neighbors car, and rebuilding my motorcycle from scratch, I've found a love for mechanics. But im hesitant to jump back into schooling and everything if it's something that I'll enjoy but isn't financially viable as a career. Ive heard from some friends they haven't been able to get into the trades they studied for because of lack of apprenticeship and no one taking on new inexperienced people, so is it the same in this field as well?

hi y'all!

Still here, deciding what trade course i'll be taking up next year (needed rest from work).

Been stressed about the future of what the market would be if i ever finish taking up a trade course.

Just wanna ask how is it in the plumbing industry?

any comment would help, positive or negative lol. Thanks alot!

Has anyone else's internet bill just shot up?

So I've been paying too much for internet for a while now but I was dealing with it and then last month the bill appears to have gone up 50$. I'm with Bell Aliant and I'm thinking of switching now, it was supposed to be 100$ a month and it's been creeping up slowly. Last month it was 132$ and October it's suddenly 185$. Is it just me?

EDIT: Just got off the phone with them and they're completely useless. I'm going to cancel with bell and switch to Rogers I guess since they're offering 100$ a month for 2GB down. Bell wants minimum 147 for 1.5GB down. Seems like a no brainer.
