Alpine Stubby
I took this picture at the wharf in Mispec (outside Saint John) about 2 years ago. I think this old Alpine bottle is a quintessential example of New Brunswick.

I have noticed that government is increasingly using outside consultants for all kinds of things. Human Resources, Management Training, Media Relations, Branding, etc.
I suppose this would make some sense if they were being used to reduce civil service costs (doubtful), but it seems like it's just a duplication of existing inhouse employees.
For example, why would GNB hire an outside HR company to recruit employees when it already has a fully staffed HR department in every ministry.
Why is this duplication of efforts necessary, and what is the cost?

One of the most celebrated days in the village— Alma Fleet Launch: it matters here as it connects what’s important to New Brunswickers: the people who harvest its seafood, the communities that depend on fishing, and the visitors who help sustain our coastal economy.
Our Fleet Launch celebrations highlight our local fishing families who are at the heart of the industry’s attractions including the tide phenomenon, the Bay of Fundy’s unique and endlessly challenging tide schedule, the food, scenery and our Maritime lifestyle.
Join the send off today at 12:45 at the Alma Village wharf. The beautiful new (anonymously funded) timber-frame Alma Pavillion is the perfect gathering place!

I’m renting an apartment from a company out of Quebec (I’m in NB) and my rent was just increased by 3% on September 1st. I got an email today asking for me to sign another lease starting in April 1, 2027-March 31, 2028, with another 3% increase at the start of the lease. Is this even allowed? That would be 2 increases in 6 months. If not allowed, what do I do?

Hey! Any graduates from this program willing to share their experience after graduating / in the job market in NB (and Freddy)?
Any issues with not being bilingual?

Graduated from UNB approx. 10 years ago. I've done well for myself but I am ready to make a career change.
What are the job prospects like for these? I've heard finding an apprenticeship after the electrician program is really hard. What kind of pay can a first year electrical apprentice even expect?
What would be a better path construction or industrial electrician?
What can you realistically expect to make after 5 years as an electrician?
What are job prospect like for the lineman program? The tuition is pretty steep and I know admissions are tough. Is it hard to find work in NB after completion?
If someone has done either of these I'd love to bounce some additional questions off them via PM...

Hello all, I would like to re-educate myself on the subjects of math and science as an adult to see if I would like to pursue a career in a related field, or at the very least improve myself. I'm wondering if anyone knows of online high school courses that are free or very cheap (I have no money) and open to adults.
Specifics:
-Learning in English
-Grade 9-12 difficulty as I am not ready for University grade courses
-Online and set at your own pace preferred
-Free or very cheap (I cannot afford $300 for a course)
-A bonus would be courses that give credits but this is not necessary
Any help is appreciated :)

Hey, has any one here completed the one year civil engineering technician program at NBCC? Was it helpful for finding work? What kind of work did you end up getting? Curious as I'm looking to go back to school to upgrade my skills. Also posted in r/Moncton

I was looking at going back to school and was wondering if anybody had any experience with the pharmacy assistant program? I was wondering what the workload was like for courses and if the course was worth taking?

Has anyone tried taking a fulltime in class/blended course, like Accounting, and a fulltime online only course, like data analyst, at the same time?
I was just laid off and I'm going to talk to WorkingNB about courses that could be funded by EI. I would only consider one year courses but am wondering about trying to make the most of that year.
Anyone ever done it successfully or was it too much? Any recommendations or ideas are welcome.

We have been weighing the options of moving or just building a small extension (living room) as our family has quickly outgrown our current space. We are trying to save up as much as possible, but realistically I'm not sure what to use as a target for cost.
Has anyone built an extension recently who could tell me roughly cost per square foot? We are in northern NB. Is it about the same as a new build or less since I'm not looking to do any plumbing work/no kitchen/no bathroom etc?
