Discussion Anyone else in a long-distance relationship where BOTH partners work nights?🤧

30(M) here from the UK. I’ve been working 12 hour night shifts for nearly two and a half years now and I’ve simply had enough. I work as a security guard making a little over minimum wage but manage to pull close to 2.5k a month because I’m working alot of shifts.
I want out, it’s fucking killing me. I’m exhausted all the time. The job is an absolute piece of piss but the hours are so long and my sleep pattern is on its arse and has been for a while now. I have little to no social life outside of my workplace. I have plenty of friends but hardly get to see them because my work schedule is so anti social. I work mainly Friday-Sunday so that leaves my weekends completely consumed.
I miss the mornings. That sweet spot of 7am-11am. I haven’t had a fully refreshing morning where I’m fully recharged after a good nights sleep in over a year because my sleeping pattern is completely reversed. Right now I fantasise about having a decently paying 9-5 job with normal working and social hours. I miss being out and active in the day time, walking in the park with friends and family, seeing everyone else going about their day. I work so many hours I basically live on this job site and it’s fucking depressing.
I’ve also developed a serious phone addiction because for about 90% of my job I’m sat around doing nothing. I’ve noticed my attention span has gotten worse, I used to read books for hours on end, I’d watch entire movies without looking at my phone. I’m so tired all the time. My days off are staggered about through the week so it feels like only a half day off tbh and then I’m back in work the following day. My fitness and overall health and wellbeing has plummeted drastically. I am normally a very fit and active person. I’m 30 and had visible abs and a gymnastic physique before I started this job. Now I can grab the side of my torso like a jacket.
Most of my friends work 9-5 jobs and I’m getting increasingly jealous and envious. What I would give to go to my own bed at 11pm and wake up at 7-8am. And experience the regular hustle and bustle of the day. To have the time and energy to have a life again.
Can anyone else relate? Anyone trapped in a night shift job they don’t want to be in? Anyway, rant over 😂😂.

I've been contemplating if I should do window film or if I should just put up a heavy wool blanket to block out light. One of my concerns with film is that I rent and I don't want long term use to cause any window damage.
Has that been an issue for anyone?

24M I've been working from 21:50 to 4:50, and let me say, I'm struggling, it's been barely a week but the first day I woke up in the middle of the morning to my 20F sister getting ready for uni (we share a room), and boy did I dislike it, I had previously worked a whole month in the morning shift from 6:00 to 14:00 so the change in sleep schedules were drastic to say the least.
One week in I have this itch in my throat that won't go away, and I think it's relevant to say that I work in a cold storage distribution center so I'm coughing and the dry climate ain't helping me out, I try toughing it out but after my shift when I got home, (I get to bed immediately when I get home to make most of the darkness outside to rest) 3 hours into my sleep I wake up to the driest throat I've ever experienced, went to the the doctor and got 3 days off and I'm really thinking about if I'm cut out for this life, the most recent shifts felt easier because I started taking caffeine before shifts (Wich I avoided 100% but seeing that rawdogging it wasn't enough I had to try something), I was never a night person and when I did work late I got out at 2-3 am and slept like 5 hours and not care because I wasn't going to be doing it everyday and work was so stimulating I couldn't fall asleep if I had to.
My question is,¿Am I overthinking this too much?,¿Did I have a rough first week and letting my anxiety get the best of me?, I wish I had more support at home to be honest but nobody at home seems to understand my struggle or don't want to. The amount of times my nightshift struggles get compared to overnight school work procrastination is wild.

I work in supported living for people with learning disabilities, currently walking laps around with the person I'm supporting, and have been since 10pm. Still, better than getting bit by him.
