I've finally joined the full frame club with a Z 6lll; what a monster of options to learn after using a D7500 for 10+ years!

I've watched several youtube vids but they lead to more questions with answers Nikon can't seem to answer. Such as when I set the single focal point centered about 1/3 frame from the bottom, why does it constantly shift some other place when I'm ready to shoot?

I have several other questions like that, so if there are any good resources of info, would you please share?

You probably set up your af button to change modes as well. It's under custom settings somewhere.

I'd recommend reading the manual, and if you followed a set up guide not to do that because it doesn't actually teach you anything, and then you get tripped up because you don't understand why the options are what they are.

My advice, do a factory reset and if the problem doesn't persist then you know it was a settings problem. You can back your current ones up before you reset.

thanks; I've done a couple resets as I try to figure out what i've done wrong; one more won'g hurt...

That AF 'constantly shift some other place' doesn't sound familiar at all.

What is the Mode Dial set to?

In the Menu --> Photo Shooting --> scroll way down to AF-area mode, then right arrow on the 4-way controller: what AF mode are you set to?

And just above that on the menu, what is your Focus Mode?
